Comparing a full remake on PS4 that's going to look like Advent Children to the original PS1 game is kind of ridiculous. If even you had the original this would be worth getting just because it's going to be entirely different.
You speak the truth. Square can't redeem themselves through announcements and flashy trailers. We really have to wait for the end products. I do have faith though because Tetsuya is leagues ahead of the Type-0 and XIII guys and he is heavily involved in their three major projects (XV,KH3 and VII).
And the classic Tony hawk, the mirror's edge, rainbow six, Ghost Recon, and rock band revivals. It's kind of awesome. I also worry though that nostalgia and household names are being used as a crutch and that were not seeing enough new IPs yet. At least Horizon, Dreams, and a few others are moving forward with new ideas. I'm still wondering when Deep Down is going to surface. It looked amazing.
Yeah I'm also wondering what everyone else here is on. They already said KH3 was pretty early in development and we shouldn't expect that game until 2017 since he just transferred over to it.
Only if KH3 gets thrown on the back burner. Otherwise I don't see it happening.
That's just unrealistic. Expect 15 and KH3 to drop first. Remember how long it took them just to remaster FFX? More like 2018 at the earliest.
Not cool. They barely gave the system a chance to breathe. PSP and many of their home consoles take years to really hit their stride.
That would be the worst news. I thought it was older but the Wii U isn't even 3 years old yet apparently. Abandoning a system that early on is unheard of. I definitely wouldn't buy their next system if that was the case.

Littlebig...what? Lol its unfortunately true. Ugc is kind of a chore to trek through but occasionally the payoff is crazy. I'm wondering if a game centred around just Mario platforming will get redundant but I've seen some crazy stuff done with the game's physics. Pretty excited to try it but probably won't buy it straight out.
Nah it would be Ni No Kuni 2 first I think. A Dark Cloud 3 could still happen though since the gaming industry is in nostalgiagasm mode.

When you consider the casuals...probably not but you're right about the core wanting it. And that is who they are catering to with Shenmue and FFVII, so it seems logical they would do it but I have no hopes between all the remasters and PS now. I'll just keep my PS3 around. It can sit in top of my PS2 and remain neglected until I feel like cracking into MGS4 or Heavy Rain again.
I hope KH is a 2016 release. Would make it the best year ever with Uncharted and TLG right there as well.
I think his point is that a remake could transfer the amazing stories, characters, and worlds from the 2D era. It's entirely possible and imo offers up the greatest sense of novelty since you would be playing something entirely different. I want the remakes that both of you guys are talking about though lol. 4 and 8 are the ones I could live without though just because 8 is really quirky and its story goes down the toilet disc 3 and 4 is incredibly short and light on side content and star...
How does XII need one? It came out so recently and still doesn't look that dated. That and the story and game were pretty horrendous. Easily one of the worst iterations from the perspective of someone who has played through them all. Don't mean to be an FF snob but people who like that game should seriously go through a backlog of classic JRPGs to understand how inherently flawed and thoughtless that game is.

As much as I'd like a IX remake you're right. VI probably deserves a remake the most when you consider how ambitious it was but how limited it was tech-wise. Yes, just a simple ATB battle system would suffice. I'm sure they'll want to add some cinematic stuff as well though since making Advent Children into a game is kind of Nomura's dream .
