A slap in the face would be to have MGS5 be exclusive to the Xbox 360. Otherwise it's not just because it might be on multiple platforms. The only people who think it's a slap in the face are fanatics that keep the console wars alive.
Most gamers are mature enough not to care about its exclusivity. What they care about is it being a good game or not.
Beyond, much like Heavy Rain, is not as mainstream as The Last of Us will be. Naughty Dog is by all accounts Sony's top developer right now. Which makes it even more interesting to have it launch in May and not October/November.
Sony has a history of supporting their older systems past the new one. They won't abandon the platform like Nintendo did with the Wii or how Microsoft did with the Xbox. Nintendo knew the Wii was in a huge decline, both the Xbox 360 and PS3 ar...

Gribble, nobody has to agree with the article and one wants to debate the issues at hand and you did which is always welcomed.
The PSP Go
To me it was a failure because IMO it offered less value to the consumer yet the cost to the consumer wasn't any less. In fact it was more. The gaming industry keeps working against the grain. How does one be convinced to support a digital era if those games are not less to the consumer? I should pay more for a retail ...
We know nothing about it or the next Xbox. Far too early to be joining the bandwagon just yet. What I do know is I will be holding off on getting a Wii U until it gets more games I want.
The best thing to do is wait at least a year to see how the software support is going to be and how the hardware materializes. Everything from hardware failures, to online support and how the multiplat games turn out.
Nintendo will wow the crowd with upcoming software at E3 while both Sony and Microsoft wow the crowd with new hardware. Nintendo needs to utilize that one year advantage and space the game releases accordingly so they have a steady stream of good software.
I have to agree with the above comments about this being GOTY before the year has even ended. Do the Oscars come out in December?
The whole thing is just a mockery. They get actors just for their appeal and nothing really to do with gaming. You have people who slave for months if not years making these games only to have these highly paid actors get even more limelight while those who put in the real work have to watch it on TV.
It's like one big MTV vide...
Geoff would never let the cat out of the bad because he's probably under restrictions from the publisher. I really don't get why they keep playing these secretive games. We will eventually find out one way or another. The game industry is such a wacky environment.
I'm glad these smaller games are outshining the big blockbusters that are often just sequels. It's time for the big guys to take more chances.
There's nothing wrong with trying to appeal to more fans but they need to do it in a way that still retains what people loved about the previous games. They can add an easier mode or add checkpoints but they need to distinguish who played the game that way with trophies and achievements.
I'm all for giving the gamer choices. What I am not for is adopting a more casual appeal to make it more mainstream for everyone.
Will this be on Next Gen systems, including the Wii U?
Awesome! Unless of course Rockstar decides to release GTA V during the same week.
This could add even more support that the new PS4 will be coming next year by releasing this game before they announce the new system at E3.
Hmmm, let's see. I can buy a retail product that allows me to lend, share and play on multiple systems without the need to stay locked to one account. Or I can buy the digital copy that locks the content to an account that cannot be traded or sold. On top of that often times the digital copy cost the same if not more. The only upside is convenience of getting the digital copy right away.
Great job trying to convince consumers getting into the digital era. They get more mo...
I love games that don't hold the players hands all the way through. It doesn't need all that flash and explosions either. This was a great little game much like Braid.
If you let it bother you then it would appear worse than it actually is. Two of the biggest stories are about Call of Duty. Something the N4G community seems to try and bash. How ironic is that? A popular franchise gets treated poorly and the community supports this negativity. Sony struggles with the Vita and are not financially sound so any negative articles pertaining to Sony get chastised by the community who seem to be walking on eggshells. Here we have a small article that is only relev...
People seem to forget one very important fact, you don't need to keep buying them if you feel they are being milked. I never understood why some people actually get enjoyment out of trying to run down others who do enjoy popular games.
The biggest factor has been and always will be decided upon consumer interest. Be it Halo, Call of Duty, Mario or God of War. If you feel they are being over-saturated, don't buy them. But don't fret about others who still like them...
1. PS3 is more advanced than the 360
Yes it is since it is also newer. Bluray is the biggest advancement. However the reasons given are relevant to previous models. This article is 'supposed' to give reasons to new consumers.
2. The Xbox 360 costs more than the PS3
Once again the article is going back in time. New Xbox 360 systems have HDMI and built in wi-fi. So yes the 'old' systems were indeed more expensive to try and matc...
Agreed. Another thing is the Plus service is hopefully going to offset any losses as well. Consumers like hearing they are going to be getting free content.
Yes, it's all about momentum. Right now the Wii U doesn't have the big games but it soon will. I can't wait to see actual gameplay of the new Metroid. Also 3rd party will get better at knowing the hardware.
