1. Reliable hardware
2. Online access to multiplayer without a surcharge
3. New IP's that are not aimed for casual markets
4. A hard drive in every system
5. Less restrictions on DLC (apparently publishers are only allowed up to one DLC for free, it should be up to them)
6. Lower the fees for patches
7. Support MMO games and dedicated servers
8. Kinect 2 should be able to decipher precise movements and not suffer from lag
9. ...
Thanks
Why not?
"XBL is still the best..."
It is the most cohesive but as far as features go the only one I can think of is cross game chat and the inviting is easier.
"However, that isn't the most important thing..."
They have made it very simple and it does function well with keeping the user within the service at all times.
"Take for example game patching..."
That is because Microsoft man...
What Naughty Dog can do is work within the hardwares limitations. They know the restrictions and are more than capable of still producing good games within those restrictions. Give them less restrictions and their options open up.
One of the best games this year was The Walking Dead but that game wasn't great because of its technical abilities. It was very limited but the story and premise is what made it so great. Naughty Dog can make great looking games but don't ex...
And people think it's just Sony who gets attacked. Can you imagine how many responses this topic would get if the headline was PS3 instead of the Wii U?
This article mainly deals with the technical side of the Wii U hardware. Specs aren't going to be the issue for Nintendo, it will be in software support. Just like its always been. You have a device like the 3DS that on a technical front isn't very impressive but sales would indicate otherwise.
Ho...
The PS2 dominated the market. You cannot take what support that system got after the PS3 came out and apply it to the PS3 once the PS4 comes out.
nukeitall, I am worried about Microsoft's lack of identity going forward. Other companies have now offered online services that are quite comparable and they do it for free. The advantage Microsoft has is consumers are pretty much locked into Live but as Nintendo gets more serious, Sony moved forward with the PS3 and now Vita, Steam rumored to have their own system, they need to offer greater value. I don't see apps and getting license deals with distributors like ESPN all that convin...
How many Wii's and PS2's sold in 6 years compared to the PS3? I won't even bother asking about the Xbox or Xbox 360.
There's a difference between wanting a product to do better and things improving because you may be a potential customer, as opposed to those who have nothing better to do than troll articles or continually having a negative outlook with no intentions of ever supporting that product or in extreme cases any product that company puts out.
I want the Wii U to so well. I think it's an interesting concept. It's just too early for me until it gets more games I'm int...
Valve will show the other big 3 how to not get in the way when it comes to developer support, royalties and approving things like updates and DLC. The big stumbling block will be AAA exclusives and being outmatched when it comes to marketing and distribution channels.
I always found it odd how people complain about fees such as Xbox Live yet are more than willing to pay a premium when it comes to software prices and DLC tactics that are worse on consoles.
This is why Kinect 2 might actually fulfill earlier promises. As of right now the technology behind the current Kinect isn't where it ought to be. Lag and the inability to decipher precise movements makes it current form somewhat limited.
Yes they do. It will be interesting to see how the Wii U does in about 6 months time.
I'm skeptical of the direction Microsoft is taking. The original Xbox started as game machine that could counter a gaming PC but with the ease of playing on a console. Fast forward 10 years and it's about Kinect, Xbox Live, Apps and trying to take over your living room as a media hub.
darth,
"has been at the mercy of the 3rd parties for the last few years. People complain how there isnt enough 1st party or even 2nd party exclusives for it recently. That was not the direction MS wanted to take the 360. Just because that is the direction of one company does not mean it has to be the same for another. MS built the 360 to be a 3rd party system."
Their direction has been pretty clear, to promote an online service while attaining revenu...
We all want as many games to choose from as possible but those resources need to be funded somehow. When you spread yourself thin then certain games will get lost. We all know The Last of Us will get a ton of attention but that's offset by other games that don't get near the amount of attention. People paid good money for games like Twisted Metal but if those games don't get the support the online could be pulled or the support for new DLC or balance issues might not be there. I u...
Microsoft will drop support for AAA games as they shift to new hardware. So far they just have a new Gears game lined up for 2013. They have over 70 million units out there and sales are still quite strong so I don't see a complete drop from 3rd party. It will also keep supporting XBLA games. Plus there's still room to drop existing hardware prices.
I don't think the word strong in the headline is the right word. Not when we already see year over year decreases. I...
Steam's main issue will be exclusive content and being digital only. Other than that they have pretty much everything else going for them. When it comes to smaller games and indie titles Steam is King. They also have the upper hand in value for software and software support (patches and fixes). What Microsoft will do to trump Steam is marketing. Steam doesn't have the retail penetration nor the marketing budget.
I myself would prefer Valve doing better than the other ...
You're right, it does have a strong brand. How many other game systems could have sold for $600, not have a great library of games during its first year, struggle with multiplayer games, yet still sell 10 million units during its first year.
Give credit where credit is due. Sony stuck to their guns and brought the price down. In the end they supported the real gamer more than the others.
That is true but if the title had read "The Xbox 720 crushes the PS4 for search inquiries in the U.S.", that wouldn't create a reaction now would it?
Now let's see who actually read the article and who's a nervous wreck just seeing those words.
