Would you sell your Xbox 360 because the dualshock has Sixaxis support?
You're right. We should all have our PC's next to our PS3's so we can keep talking. I myself go one step further, I have my cellphone in one hand, a dualshock in the other and an Ipad on my lap so I can also use Skype.
Isn't that an oxymoron?
Anyways there are added benefits to how chat is handled on Xbox Live. That is one can play with a friend, chat during the game, stop playing that game and put in something else while still talking. Or how about this, get a request while within dashboard (or playing a game) to play X game, once the request is honored, voice chat is now enabled even before the game is loaded and off you go while still being totally connected.
True. Besides, wouldn't you rather be known for making some of the best games, not the best graphics?
Well if people start buying games like Trine 2 in droves then the FPS genre will take a backseat. It's about demand and the FPS genre continues to do extremely well. I think it's the growth in online multiplayer that has helped it. I have more fun racing people online in Gran Turismo and Forza.
Quote from article:
"The PS3 screwed up too many times. At this point, the PS4 needs to be perfect out of the door."
The PS3 by all accounts outpaced the Xbox 360 for sales and they did it with a higher price tag for consumers and worse marketing. Yes they started off poorly but turned things around. Ask those who own the system and I'm sure they will tell you they are glad they bought it.
What is it with this mentality of winning and lo...
VverdugovV & Hicken,
Thanks for letting me know about the link. Like I say, both systems did extremely.
blitz0623,
Of course they enjoy JRPG's, that's why they are called JRPG's. In fact westerners like them too. Do you think the ratio of gamers in Japan that buy western RPG's equals that of westerners who buy JRPG's? That might be interesting to find out.
Microsoft tried to get Japanese gamers by having exclusive deals with big players like Square-Enix and also publishing games with the guy from Final Fantasy who made Blue Dragon. There wer...
That is correct. It has little to do with reliability. Sony had a class action lawsuit over disc read errors on the PS2 and decided it was in their best interest to settle out of court. Japan didn't know the Xbox 360 was shoddy hardware until later on like everyone else. It still sold poorly right from the start. Do they buy it now that the system is much more reliable. No.
No they are not. Call it national pride, call it being xenophobic. The fact is they are very loyal to their own brands. The Atari system all the way up to the Wii have done very well in America and all across Europe. It is Japan that is unique. Americans bought the Wii, the PS2 and the Xbox. Japan is different. Even Apple didn't have a huge impact on Japan until after the iPod took the world by storm. Japan still supported Sony's MP3 player while every other region moved onto the iPod...
I always found it odd out consumers outside of Japan seem to be more open to products regardless of their origin. Atari has done well in America and so has the NES and all the way up to the Wii. Sony's platforms have also done very well in America, it was only until the PS3 there were signs of lower than expected sales. The point is in Europe as well Japanese products have had great success. In Japan they seem to be more xenophobic. Yes Apple has enjoyed great success but that's a bit...
"On December 8, 2012, The PlayStation 2 lost it's title as the best selling game console of all time to the Nintendo DS, making it the second best selling game console of all time."

It's a catch-22. They need the fanbase to sell to but in order to get that fanbase their needs to be software people want.
I'd hate to see this project held up and put on the shelf until they feel enough Vita's are sold. I'm sure Levine and his team could make a cool project for Vita. At the very least they should have made a cross-platform game that works with the PS3 and have some unique features.
"The all-new Kinect functionality further immerses players into the Dead Space universe by allowing players to use simple voice commands to help a friend from the onslaught of horrors and thrills that awaits them in this spine-tingling new adventure. Dead Space 3 featuring Kinect will make it easier for co-op partners to give each other health or ammo, find objectives, revive one another and more when the game launches February 5, 2013."
What does this mean? Your co...
The DS came out in 2004 while the PS2 came out in 2000. Not too shabby on Nintendo's part but we are talking about two different types of gaming platforms here. It also sold for about half of the price.
Like the new layout but not the search. The load times are annoying and so is having to press so many commands to do anything. Purchasing content or downloading stuff takes far too many steps. Visually it's impressive and so is the structure and categories.
The original Xbox actually showed it's extra power with mutiplat games. So you can have better technology that is also developer friendly. Sony has a history of making proprietary hardware that mainly suits them. The PS4 will likely go a different direction because Sony has been forced to be more open after all the difficulties of the PS3 with programmers. The PS2 was also a headache but the difference was that system was the lead platform in many cases. If the PS3 dominated the charts it...
I believe XBLA has demos for all the games and can be downloaded as many times as they want. If Nintendo says this is up to the publisher why isn't it the same on other platforms?
Nobody knows how much support the PS3 will get post PS4. You cannot rely on past practices because we are in different times now. For one thing the PS2 dominated the charts for years and was the highest selling console of all time. This generation we had 3 strong players.
As far as Sony having reasons not to come out with the PS4 next year I can think of a few.
1. Put more focus on Vita
2. Still lots of room for the PS3's price to come down
Halo
Gran Turismo
Mario
Zelda
Those will never die because they have become staples of gaming that still produce large numbers. I think games like Resident Evil, Call of Duty and Final Fantasy will either take a long hiatus or simply fade away.
