dcbronco, my opinion is that the PS3 has some great games only available on that platform and I would be hard pressed to believe anyone who likes the Xbox 360 would not like the PS3 as well as the other way around. Which is why it's still baffling why we have so many who stay loyal to one camp but hate the other.

The problem is you have two divided camps who make the smallest differences seem much larger than they are. With that said Microsoft does not need to take the sa...

The best way to voice your opinion is by not buying it.

As we head more and more to an always online connection to our games, our accounts and so on the more problems can arise.

It's been a long time since we saw a decent MotoGP game, can't wait to see how it turns out.

insomnium2, you are wrong on so many levels. The PC has a very large gaming fanbase yet here on N4G they are hardly represented. It is no secret this site is dominated by Sony fans, and no I am not referring to the fanboys since there are fanboys for every sector out there. So there is no point in singling out the Sony fanboys.

As for Sony beating Microsoft so far what I have seen I like about the PS4. Of course price, games at launch and the online will give me more informat...

Hicken,

Why do you keep coming into Microsoft articles to talk about Sony or to clear the air if somebody else mentions Sony that shouldn't be? How about you do everyone a favor and stick to Sony related articles since they are the only ones of any real interest to you?

I agree, Microsoft needs variety that the core gamer wants. What they don't need to do is everything Sony is doing.

"The Ps3 has PS+ which gives Sony an option not available to their other two consoles. And of course the PS1 and the PS2 were static consoles that could not grow beyond their release, unlike the PS3 which can be updated regularly with new social apps and services well into its twilight years."

PS+ mainly consists of older titles that have long passed their prime as sellers. I don't see how that service will extend the system's life when most Plus members lik...

Not bad but could be better.

Fable MMO
New Forza or Project Gotham Racing
3 brand new IP's that are aimed at hardcore gamers.

It's time for Microsoft to put up or shut up when it comes to gaming. They can no longer coast on existing ip's and working with 3rd party publishers on timed exclusives and timed DLC. They need to be leaders and come out with new games.

I agree. This was one of the titles on my radar from the beginning.

The problem is it's not just EA. They may be one of the worst offenders but micro-transactions will become more and more common moving forward. Do you know how many items Little Big Planet has for sale? We are also seeing season passes for games like Gears of War where the DLC can all be bought upfront.

These are all tools to take the price shock away from the consumer. They know charging more than $60 for a game is pretty much suicide so they will use DLC as a tactical t...

Nintendo will have a tough time having him not be a part of them. He is an icon for a company who is way too wrapped up in history to begin with.

Sony was the pioneer of bringing it. So of course they will be the ones who sink with it since they marketed the hell out of it and it was a huge success on the PS2. The way they went about removing it on the PS3 was very questionable. In fact Jack Tretton cam,e out and said they wanted the PS3 to sell PS3 software. So that just shows you right there Sony did a complete 180 from the previous generation because they knew the system was expensive and that software sales were not doing well in t...

Playstation One - Over 100 million units sold. It's competitors were the Sega Saturn which sold only 9.4 million and the N64 which sold 32.9 million. That means they outsold their competitors by more than 3-1.

Playstation 2 - Sold over 150 million. It's competitors were the Dreamcast at 10.6 million, the Xbox at 24 million and the Gamecube at 21.7 million. That means the PS2 outsold its competitors by at least 6-1.

Playstation 3 - Currently at about 7...

Where does it say Sony guarantees they will keep making PS3 games for 10 years?

I can think of three reasons. One is they like the exposure. Indie developed don't have the same type of budgets for marketing. A lot of people will try the game out and if they like it some will buy a legit copy.

Another reason is they validate the piracy if they view these big corporations as having lots of money. Piraters will support the smaller developers instead.

Indie games also take more risk and are often made of pure love for gaming and not crea...

The people who mention the original Xbox as some sort of guideline for the Xbox 360 probably didn't think the 360 would still be around in 2013. Yet here we are 8 years later and over 75 million systems sold.

It will be the 3rd party developers that will keep these systems going or not. Sony doesn't release that many games of their own each year and that number will be even lower past this year. Microsofts input will be even less than that.

Neither of...

"The thing is those downloadable content were designed to run on their respective console architecture."

Then why do PSOne games run on so many platforms? Either way they should be trying harder to make them so that they do run on newer systems.

Capcom did the same thing on PSN. Sony did something similar to Warhawk. This is yet another reason why questions remain about the PS4 and the upcoming Xbox and how these systems treat used games and DRM.

And in many cases they have.

"When people changed to dvds as the main format for movies, u saw #or see# dvd players been able to play vcr's movies? U dont think a lot of people had big collections in that format?
People had to keep their vcr's players or buy again the movies in the new format.."

This is where they adapted. DVD players could play CD...

Of course it is. MAG was a prime example of a gaming community dying that had a great rebirth by offering it free to a certain cap level as well. Even if only a small percentage upgrades to the full level or just buys a few items it's worth it. It also brings more interest to the ip and could help sell older titles.
