So who forced Sucker Punch to change the look of Cole? Who forced Quantic Dream to drop DLC in favor of Move support for Heavy Rain? Who forced 3D on the Uncharted franchise? Who influenced Insomniac to make a Move title and to add split screen viewing for 2 people to take advantage of the Sony Playstation 3D TV.
You can say whatever you want about EA as long as you have proof to back it up. We know they screwed up with SimCity, we know they have shady tactics for DLC, we kno...
Not true. The Xbox 360 came out with an entry price of $299 and the pro model for $399 which included a hard drive. By comparison the PS3 came out starting at $499 without wi-fi and the pro model for $599.
I expect both the PS4 and next Xbox to have two models once again. I also expect them all to be priced between $399 and $499 for the pro models and Microsoft might do something different, have the option of a contract based system where the upfront cost is low but with a 2 ...
thehitman,
"I bought a PC hell i built it a more powerful one than my ps3 and probably just as powerful as the ps4 and that was 3 years ago, granted at more than double the cost. PC gaming is not the be and end all of gaming its far from it. PC gaming lacks direction, optimization and has been a huge mess for quite some time now which is why consoles is the highly favorite of choice for gaming.
I do want my console to be as powerful as possible because that's...
Sony planned in the beginning for lower than forecasted sales? Did they also plan for 3rd party devs shying away from supporting it?
Moving forward yes, the PS4 will help Vita a lot. Just like Playstation Plus will. I think Vita will have a much brighter future but the past years reception was not something Sony had planned. A price cut, lower costs for memory cards and the PS4 will lead to more sales and that will also lead to more game support.
What he's saying is essentially what's happening with franchises getting reboots. You have familiar IP's with existing userbases that makes it easier to sell because the name still holds value. New IP's can be more risky.
Nintendo has innovated familiar franchises. Look at how Super Mario has evolved over the years. Same with Metroid and Zelda. They are usually all new experiences with new gameplay elements, not just prettier graphics.
They st...
"Right, because the rendering of video and the complex programming/rendering of video games are identical processes."
How much money do you think it actually saves Sony to remove the ability to play PS2 games on the PS3 hardware? It was more of a business move than actual costs.
What will be the excuse if they don't allow previous digital content on the PS4 when Gaikai is up and running and could stream the games?
I wouldn't expect Battlefield 4 on the Wii U. I wonder if a lot of this has to do with Nintendo's online network. We all know EA likes to have full control of their games and maybe Nintendo's online service isn't something EA likes. I'm also worried about the PS4 and next Xbox and what exactly they will do in restricting access to used games and DRM. If SimCity is any indication going forward be very afraid.
Nintendo may also have issues going forward as d...
It's because he knows hardware is only part of it. Nintendo can make amazing games like Mario Galaxy on weak hardware. I find it interesting he actually thought he would get some inside scoop on what others are making for it. Does he really think he has that type of relationship with Sony?
Should we all have kept our DVD players when we started getting into bluray or is it far more convenient having a bluray player play both? I have a lot of digital content I bought over the years and some are timeless classics and HD remakes that I still enjoy. Why would I want to keep my PS3 to play them when they should be tied to my Playstation account or Xbox Live account? I don't have this problem on Steam.
The problem is Microsoft is known first for Windows and rumor has it Windows 8 will tie it all together.
This is why sometimes you have to hand it to Nintendo, they are primarily a game company, that's all they do. Sony has various divisions so they will want to create new formats and delve into things like 3D to help sell TVs. Sony still does a great job at separating divisions and really focus on games.
I'm glad more and more developers are speaking...
I think it's always an exciting time when we see the shift to next gen consoles. Some people will leave out the Wii U for obvious reasons but some of what they are trying to do with the Gamepad and asymmetrical gameplay are pushing innovation forward.
From all accounts the PS4 will be a beast but more importantly a system that is really tailored to game developers. So what that means is less delays and less inferior multiplat titles.
Now we wait for an of...
I get a bit of a hit in frame rate when I have it set so I just leave it to normal.
GribbleGrunger you will probably want to play most games in 720p but there are a few that you may want to try different things. GT5 is a good example because the game does support a higher resolution than 720p but it does come at a cost of reduced anti-aliasing.

They did somewhat listen to fans about Mass Effect 3 so voicing concerns can have some impact. Anyways it's been a good chat, thanks.

I was speaking of unnecessary comparisons colored by a reviewer's personal preferences. That's why I brought up Call of Duty and Halo, whose gamplay feels more similar to each other than that of Killzone, a game often compared to them."
I think the real problem with you isn't so much Killz...
We'll have to wait and see. Let's also hope they don't give us a bunch of exclusives for just the first couple of years and then stop with new ip's.
I said it before, it's time for Microsoft to put up or shut up. No longer can they rely on the mistakes of the competition. They also have to revitalize Xbox Live by either dropping the fee just to play online or make drastic changes to why they should be charging.

There were legit concerns with Killzone 2. That is why they patched it and improved the controls for Killzone 3. You see, sometimes there really is legitimate negative criticisms.
I don't mind reviewers who like shooter type games reviewing them. What I have a problem with are reviewers who may not like spo...
rainslacker, I agree to a point. It needs to be done in a way that doesn't come across as gamers just being whiners or coming across as just hate for the company. John Riccitiello needs to hear VALID complaints. Not just random hate or generalizations.
We are still in the early stages of DLC and what people want out of it. I'd hate to see the minority speak on behalf of everyone since like I said, not all DLC is bad. We are likely to get a better agreement as a whole ...
SilentNegotiator, why should the minority speak for everyone though? I am not supporting the concept of always online single player games, it's just a simple question.
I don't want people to speak on my behalf. Not all EA games are bad for example. The NHL series is the best sports franchise out there IMO. Burnout Paradise was an awesome game. The first Dead Space was one of my favorite games.
So the problem I see with a petition like this is many peo...
Well if that's the case they would have released ti when the PS4 came out.
