The Old Republic was a huge investment that didn't really pan out.

edonus,

it is a gimmick when we see such a stark decline in interest. When you have a huge marketing campaign of course you can help drive interest. Lots of people believed int he product but as time went by very few games actually backed it up. Dance Central and a few others like Kinect Sports. Other than that it was a gimmick because gamers didn't not evolve with it. We barely even hear about it anymore. Even Microsoft toned it down last year at E3. There wasn't a ...

Back in 2002 the Live model was simply a wake-up call on game consoles. It really did lead the charge of social gaming that people outside of the PC gaming community never really seen before. Microsoft pushed it hard and it paid off for them. The other big players took notice and made a more serious effort of their own later on (Nintendo was the slowest to adapt).

I just don't see Microsoft dropping the fee unless they have to. They will have charts, they will have their ...

At the very least show how Kinect can be better and not just a gimmick. Right now there is too much lag and its not accurate enough for most games. As a support to the regular controller it's not bad like looking around while playing Forza.

1. They need to show they are commited to gaming with new ip's.

2. Show they are committed to the indie scene and not charge an arm and a leg for patches.

3. Stop requiring 3rd party publishers to ...

As soon as people stop paying perhaps they will drop the few. Otherwise they likely won't. It's a cash cow for them but they really need to offer a free option to be able to play online. Then have something like Playstation Plus that offers an option to gamers to decide. With so many games now pretty much require some form of online it should not come with an extra fee just to access the full game you already bought.

Gildarts, there was no need in starting something that wasn't evident until you commented. I hope the next Xbox has more new IP's but I will believe it when I see it. At least IP's on real interest.

I sure hope the new system isn't called Xbox Gold. Almost sounds like you need to pay a monthly fee just to play it.

InMyOpinion,
"You joined 6 months ago, I joined 7 years ago. Hang around a little more before you accuse someone of being ignorant."

What does time have to do with your earlier comment? Are you suggesting that anyone who has been here for 7 years they too should all be typing *clicks disagree 10 times and yells WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!*

Nah, I've got better things to do than to troll articles on Gears of War.

There is definitely a conflict of interest starting to build. IGN may now be pressured into giving it a higher than normal score in hopes of further timed exclusive reviews. Do you really think 2K will grant IGN more of these if they score the game lower than average of all other reviews?

Review scores do have some impact on sales and this is just another step of blurring the lines of trusting those reviews. I tend to pay more attention to what they say in reviews than the sc...

People like Steam and Steam games have been cracked. The thing is people will not want to run the risk of having their Steam account banned for pirated games. They are also willing to pay for their games on Steam for 2 reasons. One as mentioned they like Steam and the other is the prices.

A game like Meat Boy has great word of mouth marketing. People who normally pirate games probably don't mind supporting smaller developers like this and Meat Boy isn't that expensive...

Root, why is it only ok for you to go off-topic?

I say bring on the second game, they did a great job with this one. A lot better than some of the previous Tomb raider games.

Root,
"Why can't you just let people have their opinions and move on, it's not going to ruin the game for you."

This coming from the same guy who constantly repeats himself in numerous articles. Seriously, how many times do you need to keep saying the same thing? You did it with Devil May Cry and now you're doing it with Tomb Raider. Post your opinion and move on or do you just tell people to do as you say but not as you do?

Tomb...

Pekolie, he was like that with Dead Space 3 and Devil May Cry as well. In fact he wanted both of those games to fail and would call others PR people if they liked them.

People come here to share opinions, not drown out others in hopes people join your (not you) bandwagon of negativity.

Franchises have a right to change anytime they want. Remember the old campy Batman TV shows? Do you really think people are going "oh man, whatever happened to the POW! on...

I still don't see why you have to be connected. If the cities are always evolving then fine but if it is just for cloud saves c'mon now. Diablo III from my understanding needed to be because your character are being saved to the cloud. The hacking community made the servers unstable and the auction house was a way to combat the underground community. That was a case where piracy actually forced Blizzard to do something different and to make the game more secure for everyone. I'm n...

This type of viral marketing is why the industry will never grow up. I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

Perhaps Nintendo relied too heavily on the hardcore gamer to carry them through until the Wii U has a decent library.

The long delays between big releases is something Nintendo has been known for. With so many other choices out there it will be harder for Nintendo to keep that history going. Not only that but the Wii U has failed to capitalize on the casual crowd like last time.

Call of Duty has forced gamers to mute millions of people and to create good friends lists. I think they do have some impact.

There needs to be more accountability going forward.

People act like the PS4 will be on sale soon, it won't be. The PS4 comes out this holiday which is quite a few months after E3 and even then it may not come to all regions by the end of this year.

Sony's announcement of the PS4 has people talking and that is great marketing for Sony. Microsoft will now have to come out swinging and show something substantial but they don't need to rush their announcement just because Sony surprised a lot of folks by announcing it ...
