Good to see Vita sales weren't just a blip in increase but remain strong. Hopefully they can do the same outside of Japan.
That's why we may be headed for another crash. If game development continues to rise for the AAA games then expect even less risks and more DLC.
Games back in the 70's until last generation cost roughly $50 to buy. How much do you think the original Tomb Raider including marketing cost compared to the new one? How much do you think it cost the original Halo to the last one? How about Gran Turismo? Super Mario on the NES to the last one?
We have hundre...
It's a little troubling how this early they are already questioning if the next gen consoles can even handle 1080p and 60fps. PC games will continue to raise the bar. I guess if I had to pick one or the other I'd probably go with games being in 1080p.
Nintendo needs to build relations from 3rd party by actually listening to them when making the console. Trouble is Nintendo has and will always live within their own bubble and do things their own way.
It just shows how expensive making these games are now including marketing. I imagine when Tomb Raider first came out the team behind it were much smaller and advertising cost much less.
It's no wonder why they create DLC and other online incentives to try and get more money out of you.
I guess they have to continue to feed the frenzy that still plagues the internet and how there must always be a winner and a loser. It's pretty evident the console wars will continue into next gen, especially the Sony versus Microsoft camp.
The PS3 gained traction from a gamers perspective later on while the Xbox 360 did quite the opposite. Now it seems Sony is continuing that pattern while learning from past mistakes and listening more closely to game developers. Meanwhi...
Yup. They seem to be making all the right moves so far and had a checklist of things to improve on from the PS3.
Same here.
Two things have stirred interest in Vita. One is Playstation Plus. The stuff coming out included is pretty amazing. Sony has really turned the service into a great bargain. The second thing will be the PS4. The Vita was made after the PS3 so all those issues right now with Remote Play and cross platform gaming will be greatly improved for the PS4. Gaikai could also play a role in Vita.
I've said from the beginning to give them 2 Christmas seasons before writing off the de...
The sequel to ICO and Shadow will be The Last Guardian if it ever comes out. Looks fantastic but it might be coming to the PS4 now.
FPS have become a very popular genre. Thanks in large part to the growing interest in online gaming. MAG was awesome when you had the right people playing. One of my favorites. They butchered the SOCOM franchise since the PS2 imo. Looks to me they are putting most of their focus on the KIllzone franchise instead. I really enjoyed Resistance but i...
JoGam,
I hope so but the longer they wait the more people will expect. At some point no matter what they show will never satisfy everyone.
I love the move Sony did because it has taken the limelight away from Microsoft in one key area, North America. The PS4 is getting free marketing because anytime a developer wants to mention a game, whether it be Battlefield 4, Diablo III or Watch Dogs they can't even hint it's coming to the new Xbox.

"Really....did you guys even ask any other publishers?"
Who cares, it's being published by Nintendo. Why is it an issue because it's coming to the Wii U? Microsoft got Gears of War from Epic, Sony got games from Insomniac.
"Besides are they really going to admit that there was another way or they could of done something to get the game published on all consoles....of course not because then you'd have a massive bac...
No reason for them to go anywhere else. As long as they are making games they want to make and have good relations why leave?
I guess I want to see more fresh ideas. This generation has been so crowded with shooters and sequels. I don't want the extra horsepower to just re-skin the same games.
I'm interested in what the new PS4 controller will provide. All this Share stuff could be interesting but I'd like to see more than just being able to take snapshots and videos that we can upload to Facebook.
MysticStrummer,
"It makes a difference when it's across three platforms."
Not really unless those games actually enhance the ip. Did Resistance on the handheld make the ip better or was it used in conjunction to have a familar ip to help spur interest in new hardware? The fact is they got another studio to work on an existing ip. Much like how Activision has two teams making Call of Duty. So instead of creating a whole new ip that is a shoiter to help se...
Fro the article;
"Overall, I think this generation of consoles will struggle painfully against the momentum of mobile/online games we’re seeing globally."
Biased view since he is involved in mobile gaming right now. Yes he has experience in both fields but I think the two will continue to co-exist.
"People need to relax a little and stop turning everything into World War III – Gamers vs. The Man. There are no winners in that scenario.&q...
You have a great universe to explore, Mass Effect was only one part of it.
The Playstation Move can also change colors.
That's what they have to do, make it worth it. If Nintendo wants older titles coming to the Wii U platform they need to convince consumers why they should either play it again or why they should pay $60 all over again.
What about GTA 5 or Bioshock Infinite? These are high profile games by well known developers.
