"So they would either have to Westernize it or offer it on multiple platforms or scale the development back."
That is why I said or scale back the development.
"The only people who say otherwise are fanboys who choose to ignore Microsoft's well-documented history."
It really isn't as black and white as you make it seem. You don't have to be a fanboy to enjoy the Xbox 360. What we really have are hardened gamers such as yourself feeling squeezed out so you're only solution seems to be on the attack. We live in an era with more choices than ever before.

"Separately, VG247 sources claim this new project is not in development at series creator Rocksteady Studios. That development house is rumored to be working on a stylized prequel that will detail the Dark Knight’s first encounter with the Joker. It is not expected until 2014 at the earliest."
If that's the case this will be the game I will be looking forward to instead.
The 1st one had lots of potential but it wasn't the best one. Assassin's Creed II was better IMO.
Gamers might want a new one every year but they need to make them more special by not pumping them out so fast. I would like to see proper releases so that they have time to really make a great game. Otherwise we are headed into a sports franchise where they don't have the time to make a great product.
If it does Sony will have to subsidize the costs. This franchise nearly killed Sega because of the high production costs and sales not able to match that. Shenmue has a very vocal community out there but it's not known just how big that group really is to sell a game of the same magnitude the others were. To me it would be a very risky investment to make it exclusive and have the Japanese gamers be the main target. So they would either have to Westernize it or offer it on multiple platfor...
Sometimes he's right, sometimes he isn't. I could probably have the same results if I were to answer the questions he gets asked.
As for his Steambox answer I disagree. He thinks most people want to play with a keyboard and mouse. That is only partially true. What Steam has done is educate the consumer that it's not just an isolated experience where you have a PC in a dedicated room with a monitor and a keyboard. That's why they brought out Big Picture mode an...
I agree. For all the hating on Xbox Live fees, it generates quite a bit of revenue for Microsoft and sadly they probably won't drop the fees. Sony is taking a different approach and one I think offers greater choice for the consumer and one that shows the value upfront.
These companies also make quite a bit of money on peripherals such as controllers and 1st party accessories. If Sony does intend to take a loss on the PS4 I don't expect it to be as large as it was on ...
Of course the PS4 exists but to say it is in a dominant position is very misleading. What exactly is it dominating? We know nothing about the next Xbox that's been confirmed and the PC already exists. We also don't even know the price of the PS4 and who's it's main competition is just yet.
Everything we have heard about the PS4 thus far sounds very promising but the problem is we have members who are all too eager to start console wars which leads to immature ...
You will always have fanboys on any forum so there's no point in singling out Sony fanboys. What should be questioned however is why do the same people who kept defending the Vita not share the same attitude towards the Wii U?
Each platform has been struggling to meet sales expectations, each system doesn't have real commitments from 3rd party publishers either. Both have also been suggested by the media to get price cuts as well. So when you start to see the same peo...
I prefer RC Cola myself.
To confirm this you should have a new user choose God of War and another new user choose Gears of War. It would be a silly test but it may give some indication.
I'm not a big fan of either franchise but I'd probably choose God of War.
I expect both systems to be uncovered at E3 but I'm not sure if either one will announce a price until after E3.
It's also timing. This generation lasted longer than any other. So there is going to be more overlap. It could be ported over to new hardware with some improvements. Making it for the PS4 probably would have delayed the project.
Yes it is. Too Human on the other hand wasn't.
Because it takes a lot of investment and the competition is quite fierce. You have companies like Microsoft and Sony who will subsidize their hardware and offset that by charging royalties and selling peripherals. It is quite the investment to create and supply a full blown console. Nvidia can penetrate more of the market by supplying products to smartphones, tablets and PC's.
Nvidia always seems to be slightly ahead of AMD but the prices are higher. You tend to get more ...
It's nice to see Sony finally making a system that will make things smooth for developers. I don't expect any multiplats to suffer or delays like we seen on the PS3.
As for the launch you don't really want to have too many titles. I'd like them to be spaces apart with strong titles having a constant flow throughout the year.
I don't see this game being exclusive unless Sony wants to help fund it. It's one of the most expensive franchises ever made and sales never helped Sega recover those costs. What we have is a very vocal group out there that wants another Shenmue title but we all know how those who are the most vocal don't necessarily mean the majority.
Japanese sales for consoles just aren't large enough to warrant such an investment. Even Final Fantasy versus has been missing...
1. Good software
2. Decent hardware
3. Reasonable price
4. Good marketing
Those are 4 main key areas I can think of. Of course free access to online gaming, good relations with publishrers and indie developers, exclusive content, and new gameplay experiences can help too.
"What we're trying to accomplish here is recreate the Metal Gear series. It's a new type of Metal Gear game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well."
Then why is it called Metal Gear Solid V and not a reboot or a different title?
They may or may not be competing directly but they are influencing game developers to support it. The movie industry just wants you to watch their movies, they don't care if you do it in a theater, on your ipad or on your HDTV. So why is the gaming community so threatened to the point where they have to keep saying this isn't competing with that? A publisher like Electronic Arts treats it's IP's just like how movie studios treat their movies. They want to get their product out...
