It can compete but not in a direct comparison. That's why the Wii U will have to be priced accordingly. Where the Wii U will shine is in its ability to differentiate itself from the others. Namely the Gamepad features and exclusives. This is why Nintendo is struggling right now, there simply isn't enough compelling software to motivate gamers and the Gamepad features as of yet aren't convincing gamers to want them more.
It's always hard to get 3rd party publis...
Sure, there are cool games coming to Vita but it also helps that Vita got a price cut. It's also a year older than the Wii U. So why do we have a topic trying to compare the two? Once the Wii U starts getting more software and a price cut I imagine it too will be seen as a comeback.
You're right and Sony even acknowledged that on the PS3. This is why the PS4 is being advertised as instant action. Microsoft forced developers to have small patches in order to not have long delays in playing. The old days of the cartridge based games are missed with how fast they were to get started.
"Now, in GTA's case you hear that less."
Of course you do and sometimes you have to take aggressive actions to change that. Final Fantasy used to be known on Nintendo systems now it's mainly synonymous with the Playstation brand. Microsoft could try and change that with exclusive DLC or a timed exclusive game but it's very doubtful that would have much impact as the Xbox brand fails in Japan.
Western games like Tomb Raider are now close ...
"Yeah, this lack of defense just seals the deal for a failure."
Sensationalism at its best. Nothing is sealed but these rumors are not helping. On top of that Windows 8 and the Surface are not doing very well. Ballmer should leave the company and let someone else take charge.
1. The Witcher 3
2. Watch Dogs
3. The Last of Us
4. Bioshock Infinite (already out)
5. Metro: Last Light
6. Destiny
7. GTA V
8. Battlefield 4
9. Tomb Raider (already out)
10. Beyond: Two Souls
Some may not come out in 2013.
"I don't know where you guys get that idea, but the ONLY people who could POSSIBLY think that are individuals like yourself, who already think Microsoft can do no wrong."
The reality is you never think they ever do anything right and you're thriving on all the rumors. Then when someone does say something positive about MS or shows an example you are ready to give a favorable plug-in for Sony.
It really is sad how venomous some forum members...
We keep hearing more proof that Insomniac is in full control of their own IP yet some people still want to shift the focus away from them and back onto EA.
It sounds like a fun game and I'm glad you can play the whole game solo or split-screen or co-op up to 4 people, along with drop-in and drop-out features.
Of course they will have a strong showing of content at E3. They knew the PS4 and Xbox were going to be hitting soon so they will have to have something to distract them.
What we have is basically Nintendo trying to let 3rd party publishers have some breathing room by not over-crowding the line-up with 1st party games and hurting the chances for them. In reality it could have been Nintendo relying on die-hard fans to keep the system afloat that buy new systems regardless of s...
Yes they are. Three main issues stand out that will kill the next Xbox.
1. It will require a constant connection at all times to run games.
2. It will block used games.
3. Too much emphasis on Kinect.
That was hilarious. I love the part about the Wii U.
Anyways this is what I was saying earlier. Steam authenticates your game purchases so it is interesting how vocal people are about the new Xbox and how some people have double standards. I seriously doubt the system will require a constant connection since we know how terrible that can be.
Piracy has basically hurt the honest purchaser and piracy was an issue on both the PC and the Xbox 360 (to a lesser de...
EA is a very powerful company and they are very hard to ignore. That's why they remain relevant. If we had choices that would make it much easier to decide where consumers would go. If games are only available on Origin for example that doesn't mean they favor it over a competitive service like Steam.
One has to ask what makes any company the worst?
Are they bad to work for? They were sued over overtime not being paid. People have left on bad terms. ...
At least they seem to be trying but you're right, they are very far behind in certain areas after ignoring the market for so long.
It seems to me both Sony and Nintendo are taking a very pro stance on working with developers but you don't hear too much from Microsoft making things easy.
MS may be forced to say something soon. Read the official reply again because it's not going to help them:
"We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday."
That means they now confirm it was an employee. The question is why would an employee say anything when so far everything is so secretive unless they don't like the leaks?
"This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and hi...
What MS could say is they have no interest in creating a game console that must require an online connection at all times without mentioning the next Xbox.
I'm starting to think they will have some sort of validation code or the game disc having a handshake so to speak with the hardware. We all know the Xbox 360 was pirated and we also seen the rise in online codes to try and curb used games sales now. The worst case scenario for me is that MS comes out and says it needs ...
JeffGUNZ,
Don't worry about it. What we have are people who choose sides and want to clash with anyone who doesn't share their pessimism. Trouble is I don't have a side. I already said before the PS4 looks great so far yet he thinks I am somehow favoring the next Xbox. Makes no sense at all but people like him aren't here for reasoning, they like the conflict.
It would be very foolish for Microsoft to have a system that requires an online conn...
How do you deal with it if you don't have an online connection? We've seen these services go down before and while it is annoying you can still play your games offline. That's why SimCity got so much flack, they decided in their wisdom it needed a constant connection. So what you had were people paying 50 or 60 dollars and not being able to play. Guess what's going to happen when your $400 game console can't play ANY game?
I understand what you're saying Gribble and there is probably some truth to that but likely on a very minor scale. Those who are already per-ordering the PS4 were likely to do it anyways regardless of these rumors.
Microsoft wont comment because they don't want to even announce its existence yet. Everything seems to be in secrecy. So if they say its not true then that admits there's a new Xbox. We all know its coming but Microsoft no doubt wants to make a big spla...
I would love to see a next gen. Road Rash.
There are legit reasons to compare those consoles to one another and how they stack up. What I am saying is why compare how one system is doing sales wise after a year and has had a price cut and had time to get more games to another that has only been out for a few months with no price cut? Wouldn't it had made more sense to see how well they did to one another in the same time-frame? The media was way too quick to call the Vita a failure back then too.
