gamefreak1198,
I understand that but some people act like Xbox 360 owners have nothing to play while PS3 owners only play exclusives. That simply isn't true. Most game sales for both consoles actually show 3rd party games being the major titles overall that people play.
I also know the power of exclusives and what differentiates them from one another. Microsoft hasn't ignored the core gamer, they are still very active in getting core titles from vario...
"Dreamcast and PS2's online respectively. MS was taking a HUGE risk in providing robust online gaming to consoles. Why WOULDN'T they need funds to build it up?"
And yet Ninetndo built Miiverse, Valve built Steam and Sony created Home and have basically caught up to many of Live's features, all being provided for free. So how can they fund it but Microsoft and all of their billions of dollars can't? Strawman argument.
"I can'...
insomnium2,
"The thing we can grasp from these games is that the MS-funded games are Kinect only. Then there are multiplats. I hate to blow the whistle too early but judging by MS's track record with x360 this situation does paint a clear picture of where MS is heading. Prove me wrong MS. I dare you!"
They don't have to prove you wrong. In fact they don't need your business in the first place. You've been venting your resentment towards Micro...
"Consequently, the Witcher series actually takes what works in each game and IMPROVES on it rather than choose to casualize the experience and move away from RPG elements like Mass Effect does."
I liked Mass Effect 2 more than the first one. It's called an opinion and yours is no greater than mine. In fact many critics also enjoyed the 2nd one very much as well. You didn't obviously, oh well. So don't try and tell me it's laughable it can't compe...
The Mass Effect series has sold very well and has been praised across the board from critics. Not sure where you get off suggesting most would say the Witcher is better to the point it's laughable to suggest otherwise.
What is it with this endless tirade from people to attack anything related to EA? The Witcher series is excellent but so is Mass Effect and so was the first Dragon Age.
So many people on forums always want to generalize and put out placehol...
"You're forgetting something important. Precedent. Just because I don't buy anything with such restrictive DRM doesn't mean the problem goes away."
Neither does piracy or the used game market but publishers will still try and do something to battle it. To this day nobody has found a good workaround to Diablo III through piracy. What benefit is there to having online passes? All of Sony 1st party games now have them. EA games have them. Again, I'm not...
The titles they offer have usually gone through the selling process and are what we call now back-catalog titles where their value has significantly decreased.
I'm a Plus member and think it's great value (even better for Vita and PS3 owners) but the downside to it is they are now announcing free games well in advance which could mean some lost sales. It's not a downside to me but perhaps the publisher. It could also be training people into thinking any game that ...
DragonKnight,
"There is no justification in locking out access to the basic function of a product you paid for behind an always-online requirement."
There's no justification from our end but from their end it could alleviate piracy and help keep games updated. You act as though what their intent is illegal. Nobody is forcing you to sign a 3 year term for your cellphone either and they are trying to make illegal to lock a phone to a provider. Perhaps you ...
Graphics only give a first impression. Without great gameplay and a great story you'll lose interest quickly. Are graphics why Angry Birds so well? What about Diablo III and Minecraft? Even a game like Gran Turismo 5 has awesome graphics but people buy it mainly for the gameplay. Crysis is not excelling in any area besides graphics which is why gamers are getting bored with it. The graphics did carry it on the PC because people wanted to test their systems.
Can anybody actually argue against the success of Diablo III? This is a numbers game and if Microsoft thinks they can survive then so be it. Lots of people were not happy about Diablo III and how it requires being online to function properly but it sold over 13 million copies on a platform plagued by piracy. World of Warcraft and Minecraft are also examples of games with great success with players who are online.
Then take the number one franchise on consoles, Call of Duty. T...
Great to see more developers branching out to the PC.

I've never blocked anyone because unlike you I can actually handle whatever people say to me. I just checked again, you have me blocked. So why bother mentioning my name in articles and instead speak to me in private? Oh that's right, you're all about attention.
"Don't like what I have to say? That's fine. I'm not gonna stop."
Yes, we know. The question is why keep coming to a place where the the community has basically voted...
That's right Hicken, keep mentioning my name in other articles because you have 1 bubble and want to make the most use of it. Not only that but you PM me and others to say something and then when we reply you block us like a child with their fingers in their ears because you can't handle it.
What comeback do I expect now, that I'm stalking you even though you do it to me and so many others?
You don't have an opinion Hicken, you just get enjoym...
This is just another example of Microsoft using a pay wall to get people to buy Live Gold just to access online play by amalgamating it with all of these other services and apps. If they made online play free and had a subscription based model for all of these other things they may find out very quickly what people want the most.
Notice how many articles you're in concerning Microsoft? Notice while you're in them you never actually say anything other than to be off-topic or say something negative?
Can you actually survive 5 minutes without mentioning anything related to Sony in every topic?
Why are you here Hicken? What motive do you have being in a topic about an XBLA developer saying they actually enjoyed working with Microsoft and HIS experience contradicts what some others have said? Other than to give your little snide remarks because you're so threatened by Microsoft. Why concern yourself so much with what Microsoft is doing other than to troll and try and agitate anyone who may not care as much as you about all of these things that are just so important to you.
What competed with the 2600 at the time? Launch line-ups do have an effect. Imagine a Zelda game or a real Mario Bros. game on the Wii U, those are system sellers. The games they did offer wasn't that impressive. You had Zombie U, a 2D Mario game and NintendoLand for big games. Not exactly breathtaking.Plus Nintendo had a tough time marketing it and what the system offered.
So far all signs are positive for the PS4. Great hardware tailored for game developers, a history w...
From the article:
"Games are starting to solve all of that, but with AAA games we’re seeing less risk due to the fact that there’s a lot of money involved."
This is true. Perhaps Cliff left Epic because he grew tired of the franchise and wants to do new things? It's probably why Bungie left because they were likely told to keep making Halo. Insomniac probably went independent because they wanted to create a new IP and one that they have full control on. ...
