I knew no one would listen. Did you guys even finish the article? In his conclusion he says, "It is my personal opinion that it just ‘feels’ better to play games on the Playstation 3." Many of the people griping on here are precisely the type of fanboy the author is trying to calm. Oh well.
I base this on an old copy of Nintendo Power (the one with Super Empire Strikes Back on the cover) that lists MSRP for upcoming games, which includes a listing for MKII at $90. Certainly Wal Mart is in the habit of lowering prices, although cutting the price in half does seem pretty drastic. Hmm.
My understanding of his comments about graphics were that the 360 has more resources devoted to processing graphics, but the PS3 has much more processing power period, which would lend itself to truly excellent graphics.
He says, "The CPU power is another story however; on paper the Cell has a lot more potential than the triple-core Xeon that resides in the 360."
I think he was comparing hardware, not necessarily which has the "best" graphics.
I'm wondering about the "old days when you paid less and got more." I remember back when Mortal Kombat II came out for the SNES and cost $90 RETAIL. In the "old days" all games were priced differently based on how desperate gamers were to get their hands on a title. This still happens in Japan, where regular games cost about what they do here, and high profile games like FF cost closer to $100 (US dollars).
All that being said, I agree that DLC isn't exactl...
Yeah, look at the size of that thing! Anyway, I have the 40GB PS3 and I have no complaints. It doesn't play PS2 games, which is why I have my PS2 set up next to it. And BOTH of my systems play PS1 games. :) I would download a backwards-compatible patch if Sony made one, but until then, I'm enjoying games on both of my consoles. No big deal.
Edit @ 1.13: I agree completely. Some people are never happy.
@2.0: That quote jumped out at me too. Regardless of whether it's the "most heated" or not, the sheer glut of gaming news and editorial sites is certainly the reason for most of the animosity between sides.
@PirateThom: "The Nintendo/Sega rivalry of the 90s was far more heated." And far more valid because of the many, many exclusives each console offered, as well as the pronounced differences between games that did appear on each system. Those were the days...
Holy cow, now we have users complaining about "democratic" posts? For the record, Fishy, I've always found you to be a class act on here.
Back on topic. Ninja Blade and Alan Wake both have tremendous potential, but I'd like to see a bit more gameplay from both before I start wishing too hard for a port.
Sorry, I couldn't hear this article over the CHA-CHING of Google's cash register.
It was one of two games I bought with my system last year (the other was R&C: ToD). While Folklore did get a touch repetitive by the end, I loved the story and the art style. The clouds moving over the ground in the game's main town is still one of the best atmospheric touches I've ever noticed in a game. A sequel really could have shored up the first game's few noticeable problems. Rest in peace Folklore 2, we hardly knew ye.
Did the Playstation 2 whisper in their ears or what? No. Take some personal responsibility, for fks sake. The result of their behavior is tragic, but their behavior itself was pure idiocy.
What's next, vomitoriums and live slayings at the colosseum? What is happening to our culture?
"having played Microsoft's Gears of War video games..."
I wonder if the boys over at Epic Games would have anything to say about "Microsoft's Gears of War." And yet Gamedaily has the cojones to suggest their expertise gives them the right to score unreleased games?
Well, as a fully trained teacher, I guess I have the right to grade Gamedaily's current and future articles:
F. Repeat Kindergarten.
Bubbles.
I didn't want to give PoG's thread another reply, but I had to tell Rofflecopter about his new bubble. Chair-glasses = Win.
Calm down. You'll notice that I DID give credit to Microsoft for introducing achievements into the gaming world, and I also like achievements and trophies just fine. I'm not sure how that makes me or any of the rest of us here "blind." If you want people here to take you seriously, you need to figure out what your argument is BEFORE you post. You aren't making much sense right now.
Ha ha! Well said.
Um, did you realize Drake simply quoted the article, but substituted "achievements" for "trophies"? Thanks for proving his point for him.
@Drake, thanks for the (apparently) subtle comparison between achievements and trophies. If SG wanted to bash trophies, they could have at least pointed out how Microsoft was responsible for the original innovation of achievements, because let's face it: the popularity of achievements made trophies necessary.

You bring up good points. I certainly am not blaming the whole incident on the gun. A gun, as you say, is an inanimate object. But it's also one of the least personal ways to kill a person. You think this kid would have been able to go through with killing the people who raised him from birth if he'd only had a knife or a hammer or an extension cord handy? Anything in a person's house can be lethal, but guns make immediate rage easy to satisfy and act on, and in my opinion they are far t...
Before you get modded for swearing, I want to thank you for being a voice of reason. Gun violence simply CAN'T be a result of the easy availability of guns, right? Gimme a break. Bubbles for you.
So this kid slaughters his parents and goes to trial, where the lawyer said, "Oh, it's not his fault, and PS, make sure to support your local chapter of the NRA!" and you make a joke about his clothes. Maybe there IS something to the argument that gamers are antisocial and inhuman.
Edit: Disagrees only prove my point. For crying out loud, if we can't bring ourselves to care about tragedies that have nothing to do with us personally, then at least we can show some resp...
Don't forget FFIV (or II in the US) on the Super Nintendo. XIII will be huge.
