For fun, here's a writer calling him/herself "Dinomax," writing to Nintendo:

"I'm unreasonable? No Nintendo you are. Spend that money on child labour in china, I don't care, get those games out NOW. You see I'm a HARDCORE gamer. You need me Nintendo, you must especially listen to me."

@Scythe: your PS3 won't flood the world, you are correct. However, there is more to going green than global warming. Sony took many, many financial hits in its long history to keep all its jobs in Japan (meaning no outsourcing and absolutely no sweatshops--Nintendo is worse than MS in this last regard, but neither is blameless). They do now have factories in China as well, but with very specific standards regarding worker safety, age, etc. No matter how you feel about all this green "...

I was in the same boat--not good enough to make the grade in a few races. Still, at first I was pissed that they nerfed the game. Then I realized it's not nerfed at all. You still have to play well to get Elite wins, and most people will still get their sh1t cleaned in online races. Man, what a fantastic freaking game.

On a side note, anyone else wonder why no one besides 1up has given Wipeout HD a video review? This game has to be seen to be believed.

This opinion piece wasn't the angry tripe I expected it to be, regardless of which controller the author preferred in the end. It was thoughtful and technologically detailed.

But you're right. This will end badly for all of us. *Holds pillow over ears and waits for the yelling to start*

As one of those "idiots" you mentioned, I saw an opening for a one-liner and I took it. I stand by my childish blather. :)

However, I'm not sure how you can attack a FPS for being scripted, and then praise Half-Life (or, by extension, HL2). I absolutely loved both of those games, but they were scripted down to the millisecond. The original Halo certainly felt less scripted, and was fun, but even when it came out I wouldn't have called the AI very smart. The Flood be...

"Mass effect, Oblivion, Tales of vesperia, Fallout, Lost oddysey etch.
Those are all better then what SE produced on 360 and PS3"

Completely agree, especially since SE hasn't released a single game on the PS3 yet. I would also add Eternal Sonata to that list.

Thanks for the lesson in how to have a debate with some civility. I hope some others here are taking notes.

This is one of the few times I actually gave a Gamedaily link a hit.

Maybe Edge can give Gabe a job reviewing PS3 games! Couldn't be worse than whoever currently does it.

X-Play posted a 3/5 (or 6/10 if you employ some simple math). Of course, their site also lists the TR:U as only on the 360. Hmm.

Edit: Did I just admit that I watch X-Play? /facepalm

I'm not sure you read my original comment. It was about Square's risky history and their apparent refusal to buckle down and finish FFXIII. Please don't try to melt this discussion down into yet another (yawn) console flame war.

I'm glad you're excited about Bahamut DS. My point is that Square seems to be spreading themselves too thin with too many titles in development at once. In order to finish their most complex--and according to surveys, most desired--titles, they need to focus.

Notice that this doesn't come from Yoichi Wada, SE prez. That guy has taken a big whiz on Square fans AND Square workers. Are we seeing a shift in power, or is this just typical Square bluster? Remember, they have been on the verge of bankruptcy for most console generation releases:

Famicon/Nintendo (1987): FF1 saved the company

PS1 (1997): Square jumped Nintendo's ship for FFVII, which cost so much that the company would have died if the game didn't sell. Which,...

"does Nomura really care? If he does, thats just odd in my mind."

Not that odd. Kojima (MGS series) seemed to favor the Playstation brand, and Itagaki (Ninja Gaiden) quite vocally hates the Playstation brand. Some devs have a favorite box just like fans.

No PSN demo? (Maybe that's why I got the disagree.) That bites pretty hard. Maybe I'll just have to wait for the Greatest Hits version.

The PC demo was flat broken, and made me a lot less interested in this game. I'll try out the demo on the PSN when it becomes available. I've been enjoying TR off and on since the original hit the PC back in high school. Yeah. I'm old.

I know this is slightly off topic, but not really since this has become another love/hate article for a given console. I'm fairly new to this site (I joined as a Gamer Zone poster, incorrectly believing that there would really be a free exchange of ideas--now the only difference between this and the Open Zone is that the OZ is usually emptier), and I'm trying to figure out exactly what's happened to N4G even since I joined a few months ago. Has N4G just fallen to the natural current order o...

You're right that gamers shouldn't worry about minimum wage stockboys hating their system. However, the problem is that treating customers better or worse depending on whether YOU like what they're buying or not is just hideously unprofessional. It's also further evidence of the problematic trend toward divisiveness in our culture.

My local Best Buy is pretty bad about this too. I went there when Little Big Planet preorders started, and the game section guy at my Best Buy asked if he could help me. I told him what I wanted and he said, "Oh," and walked away. Didn't even point out the shelf to me. Luckily I knew where I was going. When I picked up my copy of LBP, he was there again, wanting to know if I needed help. I told him I had what I wanted, and he got annoyed again. He made some comment about how ...

This comment is not an attack, but hopefully an answer to your question. The point of NGII hard mode and other similarly difficult games is that for other people (not me), hard mode STILL isn't hard enough. They go back and play Ninja Master mode or whatever. I personally struggled to beat NG on Normal and felt like a badass when I did so. Hard mode simply wasn't made for me. Maybe not for either of us. And that's okay.
