Question: Do you want to play only a partial selection of some of the finest games of this generation? If so, get a PS3/360/Wii.

However, if you'd like to play ALL the best games at the highest quality on any platform, then get yourself a PSWii60 - the only Console that does it all!

I love this. Rumour spreads that MS is going to charge for additional services to Live, there's an uproar and people moan and complain.
Then MS turns around and flat-out denies these claims, so people still insist on bringing the PSN into this to have a good ol' moan anyway.
Honestly, is there any possible way to please some of you people?

See this happened before with Halo 3, a UK company (Argos) started selling it early. MS said the same thing, that they would ban people who played it but then retracted the statement very quickly. Does anyone have a link to the OFFICIAL MS press release here?

What was unexpected about the $299 price point? Isn't that pretty much what all of the rumours said?

You're assuming this one guy will actually rip it and upload it to the internet. It's not a normal DVD, you need to copy 360 games in a certain way. Considering his first port of call was youtube, I very much doubt that he's going to upload it (plus france has decent connections, if he did rip it, it'd be up by now).
Still, it IS the retailer's fault for selling it early, not his.

Actually, they probably would have a decent case in court. Who knows just how much this stuff breaks their games, it could make them unplayable for all we know. If you bought a game that suddenly became unplayable, you'd have every right to sue the publisher, so why wouldn't EA have every right to sue Sony?

"Microsoft France has issued an official statement stating that anyone who is caught playing the game will ultimately be banned from Xbox Live."

I want to see this official statement. Back before Halo 3 came out, there was a huge fuss because Argos (A UK Store) leaked it early and Microsoft said the same thing. THen about a day later, completely retracted the statement saying that nobody would be be banned because quite a few people were annoyed about it.

I'm with nycredude. I'd call myself a 360 fan, but I in no way condemn the PS3 Slim. In fact, I can honestly say I have nothing against the PS3 (I own a 40Gb model myself), its just my preference lies with the 360. Still, I'm a gamer at heart so I bought a PS3 to catch the exclusives I'd otherwise be missing out on.

I like the slim. I mean I prefer the look of the older consoles, but I like the idea of a $300 PS3. More competition means Microsoft will have to try harder and as a ...

How on earth am I being nitpicky? I'm not complaining, I'm simply saying I don't think sony is going to change the startup sequence of the older PS3's. Jesus!

6128d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

You didn't need to explain it to me, I already know how it works.

What I'm saying is that currently, a fat PS3 with FW 2.8 doesn't have the new startup, but when you update a PS3 Slim to 2.8 (keeping in mind, the update file is the same) it keeps the new startup. So there's already a separation there, why would they not just update all the PS3s with 2.8?

I'm not so sure. That new bootscreen is ALREADY on the PS3 Slims and they ship with FW 2.71. Clearly, Sony has already separated the Slim's boot screen from the older models, so why change it now? Why not just change them all at once?

"What they forgot is, to be prepared for it with a new HW revision to reduce losses should they are getting forced into a price war."

WRONG

Microsoft's hardware roadmap has been known about for years now.

Xenon -> Zephyr -> Falcon (With Opus for repairs) -> Jasper -> Vallhalla

Currently we're on Jasper. Just because the box hasn't changed doesn't mean the internals haven't.

So...Microsoft doesn't have enough money to build decent hardware? uhhhh?
Skill had nothing to do with it, time did. The 360 was rushed, they rushed it to get it out before the PS3, its no surprise that it had issues. But do you think Microsoft just sat around the last 3 years twiddling their thumbs? I very much doubt that, they'll have been working on probably the next 2 generations and quite possibly, the "360 slim" that's being rumoured at the moment.

Ju, the problem with your argument is this:

"Given that they (both) usually sell about 10M per year"

You pulled that figure out of nowhere, making sure it was very vague. they both USUALLY sell ABOUT 10M per year, yeah? But one year, they must have sold less than that? Well using the same logic, in another year they must have sold more than that. That's the only way you could come up with that 10M figure.

Lets even assume for a moment that the ...

Microsoft don't suck at hardware. Sure, the 360's hardware (especially the early models) were disastrous, but Microsoft makes a LOT of different hardware, the 360 is the first one to have such issues.
Look at everything else they do, from mice, to Zunes to webcams and so on.

6129d ago 1 agree2 disagreeView comment

It makes sense. After all, sales of the PS3 have jumped through the roof thanks to the slim, Microsoft would be stupid not to take notice of it.

And can we please stop with this idiotic notion that somehow Microsoft is "desperate" here?
In ANY industry, when your major competitor drops their prices, you do the same. That is, unless you want to go out of business. This is true for the games industry, Cars, gas, electric, you name it. And if you look through history...

The PS3 continuously outsold the 360 since release, did it? In Japan, maybe, but the rest of the world is a little bit different, with each console constantly overtaking the other.
The 360 had what, an 8million head start on the PS3? It's still about 8million, so how exactly did the PS3 outsell the 360 yet not manage to catch up?
Take the blinkers off, both consoles are as neck-and-neck now as they have ever been. I don't see why its such a bad thing, either.

Consoldtobots, how old are you? Because all that backtalk in the gaming industry is nothing new. Go all the way back to the SNES and the Mega Drive/Genesis and you'll see it was the same crap from the same companies.
The fact that you're willing to blame it all on Microsoft speaks volumes about you.

Chubear, the Zune may be a Microsoft product, but the chipset it uses comes straight from Nvidia. And if you want to bash Nvidia, keep in mind they're the ones that designed the RSX, the GPU in the PS3.
