Sorry, I just glanced through this article and in the same paragraph where they discussed Ghostbusters, they said "And if reports are to be believed multiplatform games are eventually running better on the PS3.". I'm sorry, but what? How can you honestly say that not 10 seconds after mentioning Ghostbusters?
I'm not trying to rag on the PS3 at all, for the most part I agree with the article, but its clearly VERY biased. It glazes over the multiplatform titles far too ea...
Well you know what they say, YMMV, but I have yet to find a single problem in Windows 7. Anyone reading these posts shouldn't see me as disagreeing with you, or you as disagreeing with me, its just different experiences, over different hardware and running different software, it just so happens that my experience has been positive while yours has not. However, I'm sure you'll agree that the press for Win7 has been majorly positive and most people seem to get along really well with it.
...
Sadly I did, really regretted buying it as well, now its sitting on my shelf gathering dust =\
Complicated? How? It clearly states that doing an UPGRADE can take a long time, but a fresh install is very fast. If you had any idea of how complicated an Operating System the size of Windows really is (and this also includes Linux and such), you'd forgive Microsoft for taking a little bit longer during an UPGRADE.
Personally, though, I would never recommend upgrading any OS, install fresh and new. That goes for Service Packs as well.
You're not very specific with your STALKER issues, but are you sure its actually a problem with Win7 and not the game itself or your video card drivers? I've yet to be able to play STALKER properly myself and that includes XP machines, Vista Machines and Windows 7. The best I can manage is to get it to run, but crash at random maybe once per hour as well as randomly during saving and loading. STALKER is a VERY buggy game (Even when patched), I wouldn't use it as a benchmark for 7.
Well no, I didn't forget about 10.1, any time I referred to DX10, I was more referring to "what comes after DX9", if that even makes sense. DX11 is an extension to DX10.1 sure, but DX10.1 is an extension of DX10 in much the same way that DX9.0c is an extension to DX9.0b and DX9.0, but also in the same way that its an extension to DX8. Each subsequent version builds on the previous, but DX10 (and everything after that) is separate from the DX9 lineup.
Try to imagine DX11 as an extension to DX10.
Really, DX7, 8 and 9 are all based on the same base, to the point where a DX7 only card could still run DX9 games, just without certain features (and those features may or may not be critical to the game).
DX10 was a new beginning for DX. If you had a DX9 only card, you couldn't run anything DX10 based, unless you did it in software mode (which is VERY slow, you're talking seconds per frame rather than frames per second) so obvio...
"I have never used nvidia"
Umm....cookie?
In all seriousness, I'm not so sure. Mostly likely its some weird DNS or routing problem. Have you tried switching to OpenDNS?
Because you touch yourself at night.
"(the same hardcore crowd that scoffed at Eye and the Wiimote)"
Name me one game that uses either technology that was actually AIMED at the hardcore crowd and was actually decent.
I'm not a fan of motion controls, but I firmly believe we simply haven't seen them being used correctly yet.
Imagine what you could do with head tracking alone - we've already seen it in racing games, but why stop there? Imagine being in cover in COD or whatever and literally LEANI...
Good luck with that one, Steve!
Why are people actually taking this seriously? This barely even constitutes "rumour" worthy.
Lets break this down - this site is reporting that "someone" didn't think ODST was all that special. No source, no indication to say who it is, could just be one of their friends who pirated the french version for all we know and considering the amount of Halo haters out there, its more likely that this is just some bitter fanboy. And that's assuming the "source" ac...
I don't think we're going to see a portable Xbox any time soon. I don't think Microsoft would be ready to use the Xbox brand for anything portable, rather I think they'll push the Zune to be the portable games platform everyone seems to want, targeting more of an iphone/DS style market. We already know the ZuneHD will have Games and Apps, plus you can use XNA to make Zune games already, the tools are there, Microsoft just needs to market it.
Plus, the ZuneHD has some pretty impressive h...
It isn't even just RTS games that have gone missing, loads of good solid genres have taken a back seat this generation. Getting a bit bored of FPS after FPS, to be honest.
The thing is though, there's no reason why you couldn't do backwards compatibility and still do 720p or even 1080p. That's what a good PC emulator will do and it'll do the upscaling internally, so the actual resulting image is a proper HD one and not just a 480p image rescaled for output purposes.
Trophy and online support would have to be done on a per-title basis, but at the moment, I'd much rather have all my old PS2 favourites running in HD than just a select few that have trophies....
Oh I agree with you, I'm pretty much saying the same thing - you should play a game for as long as it takes to get a good feel of it. It doesn't necessarily mean completing it 100%, but play as much of it as you can. Do some side quests, do some extra bits and focus on getting at least most of, if not all, of the main story/quest.
Some games are built on side quests, though. I believe Crackdown is a good example of this, where the main story is nothing special, but the co-op play and or...
Define "the entire game". I mean, most games you can run through very quickly, but miss out on most of the best bits because you're rushing. I mean, think of a game like GTAIV - what if you skipped all the side quests, all the exploring, all the collectables and just did the main quests - would that be any fairer an indication of the whole game than someone who didn't do the full main story, but a bit of everything else?
You could say that a full, 100% completion should be do...
They agree with you because they are looking for any excuse to rag on the 360. Which is ridiculous, that console has plenty of legitimate issues, you don't need to make some up.
The reviewer is from Chile, about as far away from Russia/Ukraine as you can get before you start getting closer again. 10 points for effort, guys.
