I'm calling BS. The internal destiny beta is NOT called "internal bungie beta" or anything so obvious. It's a "Music Player Demo".

I know this because I know someone that ACTUALLY has it.

It's amusing how many of you don't know what you're talking about.

Xbone NAND was dumped using methods similar to the current 360 dumping methods, that's why it was so easy - they've had years of practice.

NAND is encrypted, key is unknown.

Contents of NAND are digitally signed, key will almost certainly never be known.

NAND dumps are incredibly common as a first step, they're not a vector for attack b...

There isn't really anything to layman, it's all technical guff. The short version is that what's inside the chip is pretty much what we were told was inside of it, bar a couple of disabled components that will likely never get enabled (Common practice).

I kind of get the point they're making, that in terms of raw power the CPU and GPU are normally 50/50 but for this gen the GPU is massively more powerful than the CPU - this is what they mean when they say it's similar to the Wii U and in that respect, they're correct - but that's pretty much the ONLY similarity.

@Flutterby

It takes me just over 30s to download 500Mb. But my connection is a slightly overprovisioned 120Meg connection, so I may well be an exception.

500Mb in 2 mins would require somewhere around a 35Mbit connection, which is quite high but not incredibly uncommon. Saying how long something will take to download is rather pointless, though, as you can't be sure what speeds someone else has.

There's nothing unbiased about this source, he's actually completely mistaken about the ESRAM as well. He's trying to state that the ESRAM is the bottleneck of the system when the reality is that it's the DDR3 that's holding everything back. The ESRAM actually helps reduce that bottleneck.

It's still not an excuse for cheaping out on the system Memory.

I know a guy who works for Evolution. Story is utter bullshit. Game isn't delayed, in fact everything is nicely on schedule, a lot of the team are even out of crunch.

Why should you believe me? Because my "source" is about as likely as this site's, that's why.

You presumed that the aux port was for optical audio and the optical audio port was for something else? Did you really think that one through, before you started claiming that people didn't know what they were talking about?

Actually most of the main infrastructure of the internet is set up for IPv6 right now. IPv6 runs along side IPv4 (though tunnelling is a thing). The main thing holding it back is the last mile, all the customer equipment that doesn't handle it.

DSL has many forms:

ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+,
SDSL,
VDSL,
etc

VDSL is sometimes called Fibre-to-the-cab, with the right equipment it's capable of speeds well above 100Mbit, sometimes as high as 160Mbit. Upload speeds are good, too, 20Mbit in most cases.

Cable can be just as fast, it uses completely different technology but technology that scales really well. In the UK, our cable provider offers a 120Mbit down service, tho...

Not that much? There's routers that support IPv6 for £50. I bought an N66-U for £90 and it supports IPv6, even via tunnelling so I don't need the modem to support it.

The Xbone was never going to replace your modem, where on earth did you get that from?

Assuming that's true, developer consoles tend to have 2x the RAM of the final console. So that would mean the 720/Durango/whatever will have 4GB of RAM.
That might change, of course, a similar thing was done with the 360 that was originally going to only have 256MB of RAM.

SSDs are rated for the same lifespan of HDD's these days. Early SSDs were different, modern ones are much better at handling that sort of thing.

4817d ago 11 agree3 disagreeView comment

SSDs aren't so unthinkable. Unlike tradditional Hard Drives, the same amount of storage in an SSD will get cheaper over time. HDD's hit a "limit" whereby the cost of components just can't get any cheaper. That's why both the 360 and PS3 have upgraded the HDD space sold over time, because it's actually cheaper to do so.

Now Flash memory is different, it always gets cheaper and cheaper so over time the same amount of space WILL cost less money. SS...

For the love of God, people, stop clicking and upvoting crap like this. It doesn't matter if you like GTA or not, can you not tell by the headline that it's just click fodder?

He's right about Dev kits having twice the RAM of a retail unit, that was the case with the PS2, PS3 and 360 Dev kits.

THere's 3 Pre-order DLC's. 1 is the golden guns that EVERYONE who preordered got. They're decentish little guns at the beginning of the game, but you'll soon find replacements for them. They're also not worth very much, so there's absolutely no competitive advantage to having them.

The second is some skin customisations, nothing special, nothing anyone will miss or be bothered about.

The 3rd is the "natural selection annex" a...

Theoretically, there's nothing stopping people who pirate 360/Ps3 games from doing this as they have access to the files on the disk. Not sure if it has been tested in any way, though.

Mind you, chances are this .ini file is stored inside a savegame anyway (otherwise how would they be able to update it to say you've used your key?), so there's potential there. One thing you have to remember is that the Borderlands modding scene was VERY popular - on all platforms....
