Until Microsoft invest HEAVILY in new IPs for games, any resurgence will be shortlived. Sony have some of the best first party studios and regularly come up with new IPs and new games for existing franchises and have far more exclusives for the PS4 than Microsoft has for Xbox. Gamers want games and Sony delivers.
@Moldybread
"they would not have to use tactics like paying for timed exclusivity rights to games like no mans sky"
Dear Xbone apologist - No Man's Sky was never ever listed to appear on Xbox One unlike Rise of the Tomb Raider which was initially slated to be multi-platform like all Tomb Raider games have been in the last ten years or so but then Phil Spencer and Microsoft wrote a cheque for timed exclusivity and Playstation gamers who hav...
Both Sean's comments here as well his reaction to the controversy surrounding why gamers couldn't see each other when standing in proximity of each other as well as his various comments about what the game is or isn't show his lack of ability to judge what is appropriate. It is common knowledge as the article itself acknowledges that "Sony has been a terrific partner to Hello Games and has played a major role in enabling them to realize their ultimate vision of No Man’s Sky....
"not because my expectations were out of sync with what was delivered – it's because Hello Games made a boring game." Which is clearly in your opinion. For every person who dislike this game or finds it boring, there is someone like me who enjoys the micro-management, the journeying, searching for necessary minerals and components, etc. It is not a perfect game and nor is it even close to the quality of , say, Uncharted 4 in terms of the enjoyment one gets from the gameplay b...
Clearly, this is one of those rare games where the critical score is dependent on what each individual GETS OUT of the game. No Man's Sky is not for everyone and is a game about exploration and discovery foremost. It will appeal to those gamers who don't mind walking for an hour or two just to find a particular component or mineral to improve the suit or the ship and end up finding other things along the way like getting bitten by a sweet looking but weird animal (I was twice just 5 ...
@butchertroll
I don't understand the disagrees, as you are only stating facts. I guess it was the sentence "With all those deals for almost entire July, Xbox won over more expensive PS4 for about 7-10k units. THAT'S BAD! Hollow victory for MS" that hurt those who were seeking some good news for Microsoft and Xbox One.
Agreed but a comparison between Neo and Scorpio would be one between a update (Neo) released in 2016 and a totally new console (Scorpio) released over a year later. The Scorpio is effectively the next version of Xbox while Neo is an updated PS4 with better components. I suspect that Sony will try and ensure that the Neo is as close to the specs of the Scorpio as can be possible within the limitations of a meeting a specific selling price point and releasing the console a year earlier. Then...
This is not about the size of a box but what is inside...a faster processor, more memory, better graphics memory does not need any more space than what the Xbox One S is now. Anyway, this is all moot as it is clear that Microsoft are going to put all the bells and whistles on the Scorpio. Which is fine but for the fact that it is still 16 months away and the fact that it will be a lot more expensive.
So to sum up: The new Xbox One S, released 3 years afters the vanilla PS4 is still not able to match the performance of the Sony console. One would have thought that, at the very least, performance of the S would be as good as if not better than a 3 year old console. I guess Microsoft have decided that any such gains will have to be with Scorpio which is due end of 2017.
Good for GTA especially since it has been around since 2013! But congrats to 'Uncharted 4' as well since it is only available on one format and yet is up there at No. 2.
Sigh...more pressure on the ol' bank account. If Neo is indeed going to make PSVR even better, then I for one will be purchasing it just to use with the PSVR, leaving all my regular gaming on 'old faithful' (PS4).
We shall know in a month!
Good to read another PSVR experience which has again turned out to be positive. The minnow of the VR world is winning fans and its technical shortcomings (when compared with the Rift and Vive) do not seem to be an obstacle. I do think that VR will be very successful, not only in gaming but other aspects of our lives such as medicine, travel and education. My closest friend who is disabled is looking forward to VR both as a gaming tool as well as to enable him to experience things that he c...
Talent alone is sometimes not enough as one also needs passion and will. It seems Yang Bing, after two years, is unwilling to commit to what would be a demanding and stressful position as the lead to a project that he created and developed alone for two years but now has on board a full team and funding. Perhaps he is wary of the demands that would be placed on him by any investor/studio that wants to back him. This is why, in my opinion, he should go with Sony which has a reputation of su...
Wow, this guy is...just too good. He did this all by himself? Prodigy or what? I am just gobsmacked! I understand he has now been approached by Sony and Epic so his talents have been noticed. I hope he and Sony get together - Sony knows how to make and sell games like these and will allow him the freedom he needs. Imagine this guy at Naughty Dog or Guerilla? Good days ahead for him and us! Godspeed!
Hello Games have always stated clearly No Man's Sky is and I suggest that the writer convinced himself of what to expect and now appears to dislike what there actually is based on second-hand descriptions and videos of the gameplay. This is a situation where someone is criticizing a game for not being what he wants it to be rather than bothering to actually discover what the game actually is.
""“Ultimately, it’s about bringing in as many people as possible to play the game. We spent years of our lives making these things, so we want as many people as possible to see them. It makes sense,”"
Translates into:
'Ultimately, it's about getting as many people as possible to buy the game. We spent years of our lives making these things, so we want as many people as possible to buy them. It does not make sense not to release th...
@2cents
You are making the assumption that the screen door effect would be worse on the PSVR even though so many have already stated that in actuality it is worse on the Rift and the Vive. I suggest you try the PSVR first before you decide which is worse. That is only fair.
@Imalwaysright
Sorry, but you miss the point entirely. I am talking about ROTR and the fact that the franchise was a multiplatform one that was deliberately withheld from its biggest fanbase because of the greed on one company (SE) and Microsoft's unwillingness to want to develop their own exclusive IP. Persona 5 is a Sony exclusive that is being released first in Japan because it is a Japanese game and needs to be localized which takes some time and that is why Ameri...

"Sony`s net worth-$18.6 Billion
MS net Worth- $380 Billion"
Yet despite this Sony continually knocks out Microsoft when it comes to gaming time and again. Kapow!
