The way some people are going on about the price increase, you would think that Sony was charging $10 a month extra. Except it is only $10 per YEAR meaning it is about .83 cents a month extra. No one complains about food, coffee or booze prices going up sometimes on a regular basis but most people pay without a peep. When Microsoft charged for stuff one should NEVER have to pay for (free services put behind a paywall), few complained but Sony charges $83 cents a month extra and all of a su...

I agree with this writer. I was also one of those who defended NMS primarily because I wanted to believe Sean Murray and all that he said about the game and his hopes and aspirations for it. I actually enjoyed the game for a long time until I realised it was all for nothing and every goal I finished was just to restart more of the same. I did enjoy the game initially, up to a point and I think I got my $60 value out of it. However, I feel that the devs have done themselves, us and gaming ...

@lunatic0001

Yeah, but what games will you play on your Xbox One S? Apart from the usual Halo, Gears of War and Forza as well as the occasional new IP such as Scalebound, your friends and family members will be left looking at everyone else playing Uncharted 4, God of War, Spiderman, The Tomorrow Children, The Last Guardian, Bloodborne, Persona 5, Nier Automota, Hellblade, Gravity Rush 2, GT Sport and on and on. Most of these game are coming out this year or the next.

Duh! Microsoft may own Windows but it does not own the PCs it runs on and Windows is a licensed operating system so Microsoft cannot dictate who does what on Windows. Microsoft can try underhand tactics as it always does to restrict other devs such as trying to force them to adopt UWP by only bringing the latest tools and developmental changes and hiding it behind UWP thereby forcing devs to be part of it.

Cold hard truth - Microsoft wil...

@Gotcha5

er...Sony is the inventor of the blu-ray (together with Pioneer) and as part of the Blu-ray Disc Association, they are very happy that Microsoft is using one of Sony's technologies on their console.

For your information, from Wikipedia:

"The Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) announced it will commence licensing the Ultra HD Blu-ray format starting August 24, 2015. The Ultra HD Blu-ray format will deliver high dynamic rang...

Such anger from the writer but I see no condemnation of Microsoft for not investing in first party IPs and studios to the extent that it has only had ONE major AAA exclusive release so far this year - Quantum Break as opposed to the SIX so far from Sony and associates with another lot to come before year end. The writer's indignation at NEO is ridiculous when considering that Scorpio can be labelled just as UNNECESSARY as Neo if not more so as any game that can be played on Scorpio can a...

@joerc

I agree with you. I want Sony to offer us the best service possible and if I have to pay more, I am willing and I am sure most gamers will be as well. I just don't want to see stuff like I used to with Microsoft where, for example, free services were deliberately put behind a paywall just to raise some easy money or the time during PS3 when PSN was hacked. I have been a Playstation gamer since the first day of PS1 and I think Sony have generally done right by ...

But it is okay for Microsoft to have charged $59.99 even when access on PS3 was free? The fact is that Sony is just doing what Microsoft has done for years. Does it make it right? No, unless Sony is going to ensure there are some benefits such as a better service and more games eventually.

Because some consumers will not care about 4K gaming and just want a PS4. Even those who want 4K gaming and VR may want a second or third basic console for portability, the bedroom, or for kids, etc, etc. Because the world is full of people with all kinds of needs and wants and everyone is different.

First of all, Scorpio, with the present spec, will be barely able to cope with 4K gaming. Secondly, even if Microsoft revises the spec and throws in everything but the kitchen sink to ensure that it is a genuine 4k gaming machine, how will it be different from a dedicated 4K gaming PC rig? I mean the Scorpio might be slightly cheaper taking into account manufacturing economies of scale for a console but it will still be priced way beyond what most console gamers consider reasonable for a po...

The so-called 'bonus' content is not a bonus because Activision is charging us for it. I resent it being referred to as a 'bonus' as though they are doing us a favour when they are ALSO effectively forcing gamers to purchase a game they may not want - 'Infinite Warfare' for a game they do - 'Modern Warfare' (2016).

What a sense of entitlement. Sony announced the September 7th event and some jackass decided to leak some information. It is your article that is ridiculous. For example, "The fact that Sony still refuses to admit that it exists..." Sony has refused nothing, they just haven't commented on a leak choosing to make sure we wait till September 7th and choosing to make sure that we get the rest of the information then. I agree with them.

@neutralgamer1992

The problem with leaks is the often don't give the whole information. You complain about quite a few things with regard to the position Sony seems to be taking but we don't know what else they are going to reveal on the day and the slim version may just be one of the models they are revealing and meant for the budget-conscious consumer. For all we know the version of the console you would like will also be available and may well have all the bell...

Could it be that Sony was not amused with the troubled development and backed away as a result? Sony don't have a reputation for heavy-handedness and, in fact, are known to leave devs alone when at comes to creative decisions so all this chatter about how good Grey Box are sounds disingenuous and more like spin.

I suspect that the work they showed Sony for 2 years development was just not up to the mark and Sony said 'Adios'. It is good that the devs have reg...

Japan's presentation at the Rio 2016 Closing ceremony was excellent. As a taster of what to expect from the Tokyo 2020 Opening Ceremony, one could see just how much Japan has to offer the world during the event but also as a country just how much it contributes globally in every aspect of life. Having personal experience of life in Japan, the games will be super-organized and if any country can attain perfection, it will be Japan. The Rio Olympics, even though being underfunded and aff...

I tried TitanFall 2 for the first time this morning and I have to say it was underwhelming. I played the original Titanfall on Xbox One briefly and the new game is definitely worse, not better. I mean where are the Titans? Attrition is gone and it all feels...pointless.

I am mainly a Playstation gamer and I had hoped that a Titanfall 2 with a single player campaign and all the best aspects of the original game improved would really make an impression on PS4 gamers but I ...

Saints Row 2 was a very good game and then the devs decided to make SR3 which took matters in a different direction what with Alien attacks and Superpowers, something that was then taken to an even more extreme in SR4 and the game seriously took a step off the cliff.

As for the spin-off, it remains to be seen how the game turns out but I am willing to give it a chance. I hope they reboot Saints Row and bring back Johnny Gat, Kinzi, etc., etc., but in a more plausible, less...

We don't even know what the NX is or what the specs are. Silly article. Wait till they announce the console and see what the game offerings are. Then you can just about start TRYING to compare.

And for that we are grateful. This is one of the reasons why SIE is so successful - because it is not run to the whims of investors and stockholders who usually only care about the return on their investment and therefore influence decision-making to the extent that it can seriously affect the well-being of a company. May SIE go from strength to strength (and keep the games coming!)
