Yes, but I would rather avail myself of such discounts with games that are really new - Battlefield 1, COD, etc. I will get even a bigger discount, say, in April or May for ROTR and this is when there are usually fewer releases.
I myself see no reason why I should spend $60 on a game that should have been released a year ago on the platform that has supported the franchise the most. There are so many new games that deserve more attention at this time so I will buy ROTR but in a few months time when the price has dropped. After all, if I was expected to wait a year, what is a few more months?
This franchise was a multi-platform one available on all the popular consoles and PC for the last ten y...
If the sales for the Rift had been high, one can bet that Oculus would have been shouting about it from the rafters. The fact is that the launch was not good at all and for several months there was adverse publicity about this. Added to this was the comparison with the VIVE which although more expensive, is not so that those willing to try VR would overlook a better piece of kit which the VIVE actually is. At present, it is the VIVE which has the momentum in so far as PC VR is concerned. ...
Imagine how many issues the game has when even after the Day One patch, the game is dull and tedious after the first couple of hours. For a start, the enemy AI has to be broken because the behaviour is just stupid. Getting rid of the enemy is just so easy so as not to be any challenge at all. I agree with the complaints of the day/night cycle below. To put it simply, this game is a mess at the moment and Take 2 is fully responsible. I would suggest other gamers DO NOT buy this game until...
The game is a 7 out of 10 initially but goes down fast after the first couple of hours. I suspect the game is being punished by reviewers having expectations before the release that the game has failed to live up to. The first couple of hours are actually quite good but it does being repetitive and does fail to deliver the kind of experience we were led to believe. The fact is that when the developer / publisher does not allow reviews before release is usually a sure sign the game has issue...
Because Sony does not have the stocks to meet demand if they went all out blitzing the airwaves with wall-to-wall marketing. Sony has already sold out the initial production and appears only to have limited numbers for the high street retailers. There is no reason to waste money on advertising when positive word-of-mouth will do the job even more effectively and allow Sony time to ramp up production to build up stocks again if the PSVR is a resounding success. If it is not, then Sony has n...
How many articles do we need to have about Spencer and his daily utterances about not competing with Sony but then saying something that is a comparison!
There has been a tremendous amount of spin applied by Microsoft to the whole issue of numbers and moving away from the number of consoles sold to the number of Xbox Live users now on console and PC. This shift that only came about because Microsoft was not able to match the success of the PS4 and had to revise benchmarks ...
When a PR person gives you a reason, it is more than likely that the reason is spin and not an accurate reflection of what actually happened.
The fact is that if the game is any good, we will not care for the what really happened and if the game isn't, we won't buy it. The rest is just baggage.
This is not as far-fetched as it sounds. If Sony only sells to 5% of the PS4 owners and assuming total sales of, say 45 million units to date (the figure is most probably higher than this), sales will be 2.25 million.
Sony is potentially onto a winner here and initial reviews have been mainly positive with most scoring 8 and 8.5 out of 10.
Both versions look fine. As the game is already a year old, I will buy the PS4 version in 2017 when the game has a price reduction. I save my full price purchases for the brand new multi-platform games that are releasing on both platforms in at the same time this season.
I like the fact that Sony is using older peripherals like the Move combined with modest tech like the Camera and yet has still designed the best headset (in terms of comfort, ease and looks) of the three major VR brands of which only Sony is on a console. There is usually a tendency with a new cutting edge product to focus on having peripherals that end up be over-designed and costly. The recycling mindset has served Sony well here allowing the price to be kept relatively low so as to ensur...
@TFJWM
My bad, I got all my calculations wrong but, yes you are right, it looks even worse. My point is still made. Thanks!
The PSVR has been designed to work with the PS4, PS PRO and Move controllers and will be available in less than 10 days time as opposed to waiting for over a year to use what will be a third party device (The Rift) on the Scorpio. The PSVR has some advantages that the Rift doesn't and vice versa but generally speaking, with this iteration of headsets the experiences are not so different. Ace Combat 7 alone justifies buying the PSVR for me, all the rest is just bonus and with Resident Ev...
Depends on how many Microsoft was selling before. If only 1 was selling a day and now there are a thousand, then yes 1000% growth but hardly something to talk about as the total monthly sales will be 30,000. My point is that Microsoft has for nearly two years obfuscated sales figures and then spinning events such as this one so as to make it seem they were in the game. One could buy an Xbox One S for £199 at Tesco (a major UK supermarket chain) and many have bought it for the UHD 4k P...
@Apocalypse Shadow
You win my 'Luke Cage' award for a knockout answer.
Microsoft has not come out swinging and won't even be able to for at least a year or so until the Scorpio is actually released. Even then, consumers are not going to buy a console just because it is powerful. Those who have a decent PC gaming rig will not miss anything by ignoring Scorpio as all the games will look better on their PCs. Those who have PS4s, PS PROs and PCs will be better off spending their money on the NX from Nintendo and thereby ensuring they can play games for all th...
@poppinslops
So for 8 months this year the Xbox One had one measly AAA release, 'Quantum Break' while the PS4 had 8 and a host of JRPGs and you act like games are raining down from Microsoft.
'The Last Guardian' and 'Gravity Rush 2' are still due this year from Sony together with a brace of multi-platform titles and over 50 games for the PSVR.
So you enjoy your 4 games for the year, while the rest of us are spoil...
That remains to be seen. The games haven't been released yet! When they are and we have been able to play them both, we gamers will decide for ourselves.
I have to say, playing the beta for Titanfall 2 was no joy. The game then was not even as good as the first one.
Perhaps if Xbox fans bought the game in droves, EA might well have decided that getting a cheque for exclusivity from Microsoft was worth it. Since Xbox fans didn't, EA decided that it might as well go with the brand that has sold over 45 million consoles and make sure that the sequel sells more so now 'Blue' is good!
@Howlrr
"....better same than Uncharted 4". That is just your opinion. Many of us will play ROTR but see no reason to do it immediately.
