Sony will soon lean that without exclusives, it's income will fall and then some. It is ridiculous that the lessons of the last three generations have not stopped Sony from sticking with the model that has best served the console - excellent single-player games available only on Playstation.

With fewer exclusives on the PS5, Sony is already having problems and this will only get worse. Sony has so many IPs it could exploit but refuses to do so such as Infamous, SOCO...

Makes sense as all the Xbox and Nintendo gamers who cannot get the game on their console will have purchased the PC version. a 50:50 or 60:40 split between PC an PS5 is correct and expected

Right...I think Spencer really means that there is a finite number of console buyers and most are choosing Playstation. I wish this guy would just shut up about telling us how the market is...

So according to Phil, the 4 games being released on PS5 are to inform gamers about what Xbox can offer and be attracted to other Xbox games not available on Playstation by eventually buying the Xbox Console. Using Playstation's numbers to move own hardware in the future. Will it work? Only time will tell. Most gamers who desperately want particular Xbox games and who already own PS4 or PS5 will either play the Xbox games on PC or get an Xbox console as well and if this hasn't help...

A Superman game could only work if the villian(s) were able to fight Supes to a standstill and beat him. This is not possible with the character given his abilities. One could perhaps have Superman battle someone who is able to beat him through his single weakness - Kryptonite, such as in "The Dark Night Returns" where an older Batman used his brains and tech but this could only be the highpoint and not enough for a whole game. Spider-man works in a game because he is beatable and...

I suspect that Microsoft will soon realize that it needs to let games from Zenimax/Bethesda and Activision thrive on rival consoles. Sure they can afford to keep games away from Playstation and subsidize the games division with earning from other MS divisions but investors will soon baulk at the cost of AAA gaming and the relative returns from Gamepass.

Of course, MS might choose to emulate Sony but I doubt it as the mindset is very different.

Yes, it does rather reflect what I suspect the game will turn out as under Xbox. Talk about a rim job...

The problem with MS is that it cannot seem to figure out what is simple. They have virtually bought about a quarter of the AAA industry in the last 2 years with the purchases of Bethesda/Zenimax and Activision, but still cannot find a way to increase Xbox sales! As soon as they produce serious exclusive games that can rival the best of Sony's studios and are available only on Xbox consoles, they will fly off the shelves. Except, that needs a canny mind at the till and concerns like inve...

This is Sony preparing for PS6 and to facilitate better streaming of 4K so that users with data caps can also benefit.

As long as Sony turns out games that are as good as Spider-Man 2, Playstation will continue as it has for the last couple of generations. Microsoft should be making announcements soon about new and old franchises returning now that they have bought so many studios including Activision and the company has no more excuses if it does not deliver on games regardless of whether they are single-player or otherwise. They can only blame themselves now if they do not deliver.

I suspect in two or three years MS will make COD a Xbox exclusive but it won't matter. If MS reneges it promise to leave COD as a multi-platform game, Sony will have to create another IP or bring back SOCOM which might makes matters worse for MS in the long run. I suspect most games who cannot do without COD will simply by an Xbox console as an addition, but these numbers will be much less than the total number of Playstation gamers lost by such a move. Sony might have a temporary obst...

No one knows the economics behind Xbox Gamepass and from the reluctance of MS to give us real figures of cost, income and usage, I suspect that the facility is making a loss and being subsidized by other profitable sectors within Xbox and MS. Sony does not have that ability but that's fine. Most gamers know what they get from Sony and PS Plus and do not expect games on Day One. I only use PS Plus for multiplaying on some games and for the monthly games that I can add to my library, so t...

Disappointed that Playstation only has one exclusive major release this autumn which is Spider-Man 2. Sony used to have 3 or 4 major releases every year with PS4 but this has slowed down to a trickle with PS5. Xbox is now gearing up for the number of exclusive releases each year that once used to come from Sony!

MIcrosoft has spent billions buying Bethesda and Activision. MS may benefit in the short term from the existing projects but it won't be long before their investors will de demanding a return on the investment that will push these companies into product that generates money quickly but which usually means mediocre games. In the meantime Sony will continue to follow a formula that has served it well for the last three generations of console. For an example, see how Spider-Man 2 performs...

I guess Koreans can spot when a game has been designed with a view to milking more money out of players. C & C went the same way and fans walked away from the franchise after 'Generals'.

I wish someone would bring back Command & Conquer back - done the way the first dew games were. Red Alert was the best C & C game and even now, it still is fun to play after all these years.

What has Microsoft got to do with a Sony exclusive? Why are they announcing what date Sony might be releasing Wolverine? Microsoft has SO MANY studios now- surely there is enough stuff coming from them so that they don't have to focus on a competitor?

Over the top figures that cannot be accurate as that would mean over 800m PS5 consoles out there. Perhaps what the writer means is during the limited time the PS5 is available, they are shifting large numbers, even a 1000 a minute for the 10 minutes the console is available on Amazon or any other online outlet.

While the point is that the PS5 may well end up being Sony's top seller in the series so far, I must point out that the reason to own one has been slightly dimi...

Sony became the force it is in gaming because of the Playstation. Even it's most difficult baby, the PS3 had games on it that blew away the opposition and allowed what could have been a major failure to end up selling more than its major rival. This paved the way for the PS4 which became a runaway hit from all three fronts: console, games and VR. The PS5 was supposed to be more of the same but in 4K but now Sony is abandoning the reasons why it has a console business and wants to becom...
