You are right but there are so many other games you did not even list such as Wild, GT Sport, Yakuza 0 and Yakuza 6, Persona 5, the list just goes on and we haven't even considered Shenmue 3, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake which will take a bit longer to arrive. The number of consoles sold is bound to get even larger. The sheer number of forthcoming games that we expect to be as close to excellent is just mind-numbing but utterly welcome. This is such a good t...
"I feel like I’m still on a journey that started long ago with long nights of Gran Turismo, Abe’s Odyssey and Resident Evil 2, and its a ride that I never want to get off of..."
This is what so many gamers like myself cherish - that Sony has been at the forefront of console gaming since 1995 and given us so many great memories with which we have gone through life over the last 22 years. Games like Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania-Symphony of the Night, Vandal Hearts...
No contest - games are more important and as long as the PS4 Pro delivers exclusives like TLOU2, Uncharted, God of War, Spider Man, etc., it does not matter how powerful Scorpio is or whether it will be the most powerful console in the world for long (only until Sony announces PS5).
With Nintendo back in the fray with the Switch, and the PlayStation going from strength to strength, Scorpio will need exclusive games (and I mean not available on PC) to make it a necessity. ...
As much as Uncharted was the trilogy that really pushed Naughty Dog into a level where it really is the best development studio, it was TLOU where ND really innovated by bringing together all that the studio had learned and tried over those last three games. This then fed into Uncharted 4 which is the best game of this generation so far, in my opinion. One can only have high expectations of TLOU2.
I suspect that TLOU2 will be released towards the end of this generation o...
It is all about the games and given that Sony has some of the best first party studios and a head start on 4K gaming. I doubt hell will break loose.
If (a big 'if'), by any chance, Scorpio threatens the PS4 PRO in any significant manner, I am sure Sony already have plans to counter that.
@TheColbertinator
Delusional or what? If you think Sony is not dominating Xbox this gen you are delusional.
Er....The headline or title is silly. ND is owned by Sony so effectively Sony saved Sony at PSX which is exclusively a Sony event.
Considering that we already know of so many games that are in development but wee NOT presented yesterday, the stuff shown was more than enough. I mean how much will be enough. From some of the comments here, it appears Sony could release a game every month and there would be complaints!
Keighley laid on on a bit thick and made much of something that Kojima-san clearly wanted to see the back of. Metal Gear Solid had it issues and I guess we will never know how much it was compromised by the poor treatment of Kojima and the difficult working conditions imposed on him, but the game had the makings of being something special and for this one must acknowledge Kojima-san. Now that he is out of Konami, in his own studio, working with Sony on an original IP, I feel that the best o...
I agree wholeheartedly with the writer of this article. My own favourite Sega console was the Dreamcast and I still play 3 to 4 games a year on the first one I bought. The graphics admittedly look inferior when compared with the latest games on the PS4 and PS4 Pro but the fun I still have with games like Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi and Shenmue makes that disadvantage negligible. I think the Dreamcast era was Sega at its finest and it is such a pity gamers did not support the console.
A lot of uninformed comments here. Sony NEVER predicted selling 2.6 million. This was done by analysts who could not even be bothered to factor in that Sony could not possibly manufacture such an amount in the first place in the timescale given. The situation is compounded by piss-poor journalism such as that from the writer of this article who even states..."Interestingly enough PSVR demand has been at an all-time high with Amazon UK recently selling out and no stock expected until ...
SuperData's original estimation was ridiculous given that Sony would have been unable to even manufacture over 2 million units of the PSVR. Sony is at present able to sell EVERY single unit it produces of the PSVR and the headset has been sold out everywhere and gamers are having to wait for the next batch to be manufactured. The fact that Sony has been able to shift all units manufactured without heavy marketing and based solely on good reviews and word-of-mouth recommendation bodes we...
I doubt Sony ever projected selling over 2 m PSVRs as the company probably could not manufacture more than half that amount in the first place. From my recollection, Sony had a modest target for the end-of-year. A million would be tremendous as this would mean that all manufactured units are sold. In any case, by any standard, the PSVR launch has been a success. Sony now has to build on this with fuller gaming experiences on VR. Resident Evil 7, Ace Combat 7 and GT Sport are a step in th...
A new 'Infamous' game will be most welcome as would be a new Naughty Dog game which would be most likely TLOU 2, and perhaps catching up wth where FF7 Remake is at present in the development timeline, although I suspect it will be released with PS5!
Another PSX - time flies. I hope this one really delivers on all fronts.
I disagree with the writer of this article. I got mine on Day One and I am glad I did. Yes, there aren't the full game experiences we would like at the moment but Resident Evil 7 is just weeks away now and developers will eventually start releasing more AAA games for the PSVR. Ace Combat 7 is due next year and I am sure Sony have ensured first-party support for the PSVR. In the meantime, Driveclub VR, Eve:Valkyrie and Rigs do provide enough game time to justify the purchase.

Maybe you are right and this is a cold calculating move by EA as opposed to what I am suggesting which is just bad management. It only makes it worse. Imagine throwing a developer like Respawn under the bus just so the company can try and take down a rival.
If EA had just released the game in February or March, Titanfall 2 would have had a lot more attention from all concerned - the gamers, the retailers and the industry as a whole. It is...
I don't think the relative failure of Titanfall 2 is due to gamers, either PS4 or Xbox One gamers, but more due to a bonehead decision by EA to release the game in the midst of two of the biggest shooters and among a whole bunch of holiday releases in a season which also had the release of the PSVR and the PS4 Pro. Titanfall 2 also had poor marketing when compared with the first one, a poor beta release and, of course, the worst possible release date. I would not be surprised if this is...
I suspect this is the 'last hurrah' of this franchise. Pity, when the original 'Watchdogs' was first revealed for the then forthcoming next generation of the PS4 and Xbox One, the idea of the game seemed greater than what we were eventually given and now with this new release, it may be a bit better than the first game in many aspects, but the developers seem unable to cut loose and fulfill the initial promise of the IP.
Disappointing.
This was an expensive quarter, what with the double punch of the PSVR and the PS4 Pro and then on top of that all the PSVR games (that are not exactly cheap) and the regular console releases. There is only so much one can afford!
Too many games in such a short period of time. Unless you are one of the few lucky people who does not have to budget their expenditure, especially for entertainment and leisure, there is a limit to how many new releases a person can buy. This has been a particularly expensive autumn ('fall' for my American brethren) with the release of the PSVR, PSVR games and then the PS4 Pro all of which are sure to have affected how much money gamers have left to spend on the usual Holiday relea...
Sony have really mapped out a winning strategy this time round. A good year with exclusive releases and then the triple hardware releases of the Slim, the PRO and the PSVR have all been successful. Congratulations, Sony!
