What a wonderful time to be a Playstation gamer - there are just so many games and not enough time to play them all! This is why the PS4 reigns supreme - there are so many games and most of them are good, some are really good and a quite a few are excellent (Yakuza 0, right now).

Oh boy! I am still playing Yakuza 0, Resident Evil 7 and FFXV and NiOh arrives! I had just finished The Last Guardian, Rise of the Tomb Raider and WatchDogs 2 three weeks ago. I cannot remember another time like this, certainly in the last decade, when there were so many good and great games around in a period of 2 to 3 months. There will be just enough time to play NiOh before Horizon arrives and then Persona 5 and in the midst of these, we will be playing The Legend of Zelda on Switch! ...

Good for you, Insomniac! You deserve our respect for standing up and being counted at a time like this. Keep the games coming!

As soon as one starts talking about hoping to keep something going means that it is vulnerable. BC has been available less than a year.

All Sony has to do until the company announces PS5 is to keep the exclusives coming. The games alone will ensure that the PS4 Pro flies off the shelves. It is good Nintendo is back and Switch looks like a return to form but the company that will be affected by the new Nintendo console is Microsoft. Scorpio is not due until the 'holidays' and the Xbox has very few games coming. Just this month alone, Sony has had Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and the PSVR version of ...

The Yakuza franchise alone gives Sega some street cred. The games have been excellent and Yakuza 0 gives newcomers a chance to get on to the series without knowing any of the stories from the previous 5 (or the Zombie outing). With Yakuza Kiwami this summer gamers can play a remake of the original Yakuza PS2 game and then Yakuza 6 next year will bring it all up-to-date.

Sega did lose the way for a while. The failure of Dreamcast, a console that should have succeeded, m...

More daily talk of a console that is still at least 9 months away. Microsoft have nothing else to talk about...no games, now new IPs so their spin dept or surrogates churn out such pieces daily.

Joe done good with this review...! Well worth the time. I would say this is one of his best reviews. As for the game, as Joe says "it is rich and satisfying".

There are aspects of the game that some will find offensive or disturbing. However, if you have played any of the five main Yakuza games prior to this, you will know what to expect, except this time it seems the game just has a lot more. There is just so much to do, so many mini-games within that ...

This is a testament to the manner in which Sony have promoted the PS4 this generation from the outset and ensured that the console has major first-party, multi-platform and indie support throughout the year. In just the first month of 2017, we have 3 major releases - Gravity Rush 2, Yakuza 0 which are exclusives and then we have Resident Evil 7 for which the ability to play the entire game in VR is exclusive to the PS4 for a year and a host of other smaller releases. Next month we see Nioh ...

Yes, that iis an issue GTA Online - there is a lot of cheating and modding. My point was that the game should be enjoyed by those who prefer to play solo as well as those who prefer co-op/multiplayer

Clearly GTA has such a reputation, new gamers are discovering the franchise and joining in each year.

Games like GTA, The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted, Final Fantasy 7, Resident Evil, and Yakuza are considered essential and must be experienced thereby having a lifespan that transcends that of most games.

My fear is that with the success of GTA Online, the devs might decide to focus less on the single player for GTA 6. This would be a mi...

The fact is that the Switch is over-priced even without the essential accessories like the Pro Controller and the Joy-Con Charging Grip but many gamers will consider paying the amounts involved without question. If you want to play Zelda, Mario, Fire Emblem, Star Fox, etc. etc. you will have to buy that which is necessary. Value is subjective.

I want to play Zelda: Breath of the Wild so I guess, grit the teeth and pay what needs to paid.

er...this is 2017, isn't it? One has been able to watch and play Japanese games and movies in original language and soundtrack but with English subtitles for years now on DVD, Blu-ray, etc.

The Switch is not using a disc but a cartridge - maybe it cannot cope with something that we all take for granted in 2017.

Games have been released for the PSVR as well since November. As for the closure of Guerilla Cambridge, Sony closed a studio, not a studio that only made PSVR games but had just made one PSVR game and is a branch to the main Guerilla studio in Amsterdam. If you look at their website today, you will see RIGS featured on the site. Sony also closed Evolution last year yet we saw the Driveclub VR still released in October.

The fact is that Sony ...

The hardware was released barely 3 months ago and Sony is going to drop support now? Sony chose not to make a song-and-dance about PSVR just because it is selling all it can manufacture, and with pre-orders selling out, what is the point of marketing when supplies are limited?

Sony had sold about 750,000 units when we last heard anything about numbers a few weeks ago, more than both Oculus Rift and the Vive put together. In fact, both these companies have been quite recen...

Hmm...Ghost Recon: Wildlands is looking less like a Ghost Recon used to be and more in keeping with FarCry 4 or a saner Just Cause 3. In any case, a Ubisoft game - in my opinion, wait for the reviews or try before buying. Hey, if the game turns out to be fun and is the nest best thing, great, we gamers will have another game to enjoy long term. If it is mediocre or just plain bad, nothing ventured, nothing....

You make good points, all of them. However, I am beginning to think Nintendo don't really need third party support. Why else would the company continue to bring out consoles that are underpowered when compared to Playstation and Xbox? Clearly, they must realise that third party support depends on producing hardware that at least has parity. Either that or those in charge are really bad at their jobs.

Nintendo is clearly marching to a d...

er...this is not a review but an opinion and the writer is entitled to it. However, anyone looking at Yakuza 0 should know it is the best possible point to get on and it actually will be a sterling game, if Yakuza 1 to 5 are anything to go by. There, that's my opinion.

The Yakuza games have always delivered and Yakuza 0 looks like a blast! The next year and a half will see 3 Yakuza games heading our way with Yakuza 0 out tomorrow, Yakuza Kiwami this summer and finally Yakuza 6 next year. Can't wait! With all the forthcoming PS4 releases, Nintendo coming back this year, PSVR and Yakuza, this is gaming heaven!

So, can't be bothered until the console is a success. But the console cannot be a success to some extent until huge companies like EA, Ubisoft and Activision support the hardware. There has to be some risk but EA would rather waste money destroying a really good IP like Titanfall through poor marketing and strategy rather than support a console that could actually be a success.

I think Nintendo can do without the likes of EA. 4 to 6 major 1st party releases each year...
