I thought that XCOM 2 and Cossacks 3 were the better strategy games, Civ 6 was pretty but if one has played Civ IV, the series has not progressed much. Another really good game was Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. The year was a return to form for strategy games and I am looking forward to Dawn of War 3 to take the genre forward. I wish EA would get some sense and get a decent studio to resuscitate Command and Conquer. During the heyday of strategy games, C & C Red Alert 2, Total Annihi...

I don't know if you bothered to read the article. I am referring to the writers own behaviour as a child and his reference to how children behave. If anyone looks stupid, it is you as you have jumped on something without understanding the reference.

What a spoiled brat! God Knows how his own children will turn out.

The Sega Saturn had many good games, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, etc, etc. I still have my old Sega Saturn and use it 2 or 3 times a year together with my Dreamcast when I feel nostalgic to play some of my favourite games from the early and late 90's (Jet Grind Radio, Crazy Taxi, Ecco, etc.). Admittedly, the Saturn has not aged as well as the Dreamcast which still had games made for it up until 20...

Exclusives are thriving on Playstation. The PS4 has so many first, second and third-party exclusives lined up for the next three years!

@zb1ftw777

I am laughing so hard at your comments.....

So now Xbox gamers like yourself are happy just playing 2 or 3 games a year. It is more important to have the best hardware according to you. So is guess you just stare at your console when you have no games to play cause knowing you have the best hardware is gaming enough, huh? You don't need to actually play a game so long as you know your console is the most powerful.

The list in the article is not even complete for Sony but still shows just how little Microsoft has to offer with regard to exclusives. In addition, I would be surprised if some of the games listed under Microsoft even make it in 2017, for example, Phantom Dust. The fact is that Microsoft has put little effort into coming up with the number and kind of exclusives it would need to even start turning the tide. 3 years into this generation and the focus has been only on hardware, backwards co...

But they never will. Perhaps rather than wishing for the impossible, Xbox gamers should demand more from Microsoft like new IPs, a greater variety of games and more than just 4 major games a year.

Naughty Dog has always delivered a game that is as close as possible to the E3 trailers. On a couple of occasions there were a few downgrades but so minor so as to be negligible and on two games the final result was actually better including Uncharted 4. The Golden Abyss was made for the Vita and could not look as good as it would have been had it originated on the PS3. I am hoping that ND might remaster it for the PS4 but with the new Uncharted: The Lost Legacy coming, I suspect this will...

Really good overview of the history of Yakuza and what the game is. Newbies ought to read this first! Good job!

Storm in a teacup - anyone who has not bought Yakuza 6 because of so many other PS4 releases will eventually get around to it or may well have purchased it digitally. Fans of the 'Yakuza' series are pretty loyal and I suspect that the game will sell as per expectations eventually.

I still play on my original Dreamcast at least 2 or 3 games a year and I have a backup so that when my original finally gives up the ghost, will be able to play games like Jetset Radio, Crazy Taxi 1 & 2, Grandia, and Shenmue 1 & 2. Yes, the graphics are poor compared to the PS4, a console that came out nearly 15 years later but so many of the games are fun and original and once you start playing, you soon forget about how they look.

What I find surprising is that ...

Cannot wait...starts off what ought to be a stellar year for the PS4with a bang! Yakuza 0, Gravity Rush 2 and Resident Evil 7, all in January! Life is good...

I wish they would release a massive 'Yakuza' collection with all the games to date available for the PS4. Most people may not have experienced first two on the PS2 while the rest were on the PS3, the last one being Yakuza 5 which was released last year in the West after a very long delay.

Surely in order to ensure that third party multi-platform releases on Switch are on par with the releases for PS4 and Xbox One the Switch needed to be at least as powerful as the PS4 which came out 3 years ago! Makes little sense and this situation will mean that many third party multiplats will not be coming to Switch. I thought one of the lessons from the relative failure of the Wii U was to ensure better third party support? This makes no sense.

Gosh, someone is really burned about Uncharted 4. (@Green-gangstavsTLG). I am sure Sony will have even a better year next year then.

Kojima-san decided to use an existing engine to expedite game development and the video the writer refers to is very interesting because it reveals that Guerilla Games and Kojima productions are actually collaborating and that Death Stranding will benefit greatly from work already done by Guerilla and in return Guerilla will benefit from input by Kojima in future projects.

It is clear that the likes of Mark Cerney and Hermen Hulst have the highest regard for Kojima and r...

Okay, so you were right. A gold medal to you then. Show me one game recently which has not been patched up after release in order to run the way it should. The PS4 PRO is so new that clearly devs are still getting to grips with optimising games to run as they should but this will happen no doubt, especially with Sony first-party and exclusive games. As for TLG running on vanilla PS4, again I am sure a patch will be released and the issue sorted out.

The game is excellent! One needs to have a lot of patience, especially in the first 3 to 4 hours when your bond with Trico is just beginning to form and the camera is irritating at times but otherwise, this game is worth the wait. Heartily recommended!

I suspect this is a March 2018 release. Getting it in late 2017 will be a pleasant and welcome surprise if it does happen but if the shooting is still not fully complete, I fail to see how unless the devs have multiple teams working on this one. I doubt it. In any case, there are plenty of games to get through next year and I would rather have a God of War game that is as close to perfect as the devs can make it.
