Going by what has happened since 2013, I suggest that Sony will have the best E3. At this time, all the company has to do is to show off the many 'in-development' games with 2 or 3 new games or IPs and Sony will have a successful E3. I also suspect that Sony will announce something special that will capture the imagination of fans and get the media buzzing.

Microsoft knows that Scorpio will get a lot of attention this E3 as they may well show the console and UI as...

The PS3 was the best console of the last generation giving us tech and services from Day One and out of the box that proved to be excellent value for money. It did not suffer from the dreaded RROD like the 360. Microsoft was responsible for one of the worst debacles of the last generation but the media and gamers did not punish the company as much as it deserved to be or would have had the company been Sony.

So much is made of the so-called arrogance of Sony during the l...

Most of us are not gunning for Scorpio, but gunning instead for the spin that comes from Microsoft and Xbox fanboys about Scorpio. It is a new console that is being released by Microsoft in the hope that it will suddenly mean an Xbox console flying off the shelves. However, the release is being flogged as part of this generation and the existng Xbox One and One S family just so that Microsoft does not have to say that it gave up trying to compete this generation let alone win it. This is c...

No matter how good Scorpio is and no matter how cheap it will be, ultimately the only thing that sells consoles is the availability of gaming experiences which the Xbox One and One S have been sorely lacking when compared with what is available for the PS4, PS4 PRO and the PSVR. This year alone, just in the first 4 months, we had more releases of first, second and third party exclusives for the Sony consoles then we can expect from Xbox in the entire year!

The article talk...

Sony has the games and a tried and tested console so the only reason to reduce the price of the PS4 PRO is if sales are reduced due to the Scorpio. Considering that Sony has so many exclusives that are also ' must play' games, it is more than likely that even if Scorpio is a success, it will not poach PS4 PRO sales and therefore, a price reduction is unwarranted. As it is the Scorpio will be more expensive anyway unless Microsoft decides to subsidise each console by taking a loss on...

Will never happen. Nintendo is a part of the Japanese culture and the country will never allow Nintendo to be owned by a foreign company. If it came to that, Japanese companies would step in. In addition, even when things looked bleak for Nintendo, it was sitting on a mountain of cash and never really looked vulnerable so I hardly think Nintendo is available now with the success of the Switch.

Right now and until Sony releases PS5, all that is needed is a steady supply of new games comprising of first party releases of new IPs, sequels to established franchises, remakes or new versions of PS1 and PS2 classics as well as second party exclusives, third party multiplatform titles that have exclusive content for the PS4 family. Games, games and even more games!

Would have liked to play RDR2 this year but if there has to be a delay, so be it. Like quite a few of my friends, I have yet to catch up with all the releases for the PS4 this year and it is only May so I am sure there will be so many other games to enjoy year end.

No shooter since has been as good as the first two Call of Duty games or Modern Warfare. There have been some really good games that came close but that is all. I am glad that COD is going back to WW2 but I wonder if they will be able to match the quality of gameplay of the first two CODs. I long for the quality of some of those great set pieces mentioned in this article and I hope they get it right this year. I hope the single player campaign returns to the prominence it had in those fir...

There are only a finite number of ideas out there and for games there isn't much more COD devs can do - it is either WW1, WW2. the present or the future. There may be a possibility to do a game based on the Civil War, or even the Napoleonic Wars or go back further to the Romans and Greeks, Genghis Khan, Alexander, etc., but how many gamers would be interested in these eras and it would also depend on how the devs could create viable gameplay out of such eras.

I just d...

Sony - the largest user base and Platinum Games can then make a really hard-core game. Concentrating on just one platform will allow the devs to make the best game they can and optimize it for, say, the PS4 Pro.

Yes. I remember my notebook of strategies and gameplay was as thick as a large paperback! I still have it and makes me realize just how much I was into that game. I was looking at the Strategy Guide yesterday which was also just full of tips and stats with all my notes written in the margins! I still play Terror from the Deep on my laptop and even now once you get past a few rounds the graphics just do not matter. The game is difficult, addictive and one jus...

Days Gone is shaping up to be a really huge game. Sony are clearly taking it seriously and given how good their recent output has been, I can't wait!

Good news! A new game from the maker of one of the finest turn-based strategy games ever released. I just love the original three XCOM Games: UFO: Enemy Unknown, Terror from the Deep and Apocalypse. The Firaxis reboots are good as well but, in my opinion, just lacked the dread, the feeling of hopelessness that the original three somehow captured.

I still play Generals and RA2 on my PC and they still are more fun then so many of the simplified RTS games that are released these days. I was a C & C junkie and own all the releases with the exception of the last one which was dire.

I still have hope that EA will wake up one day and realize what a great IP it owns but I also suspect that the market for hardcore RTS games is limited with old farts like me who liked their games really hard dying out or getting to old...

I hope it is Syphon Filter. A remaster with the first 3 games would be perfect as a prelude to a new instalment for the PS4 late in this generation or as a new PS5 title in, say, 2019.

I have been playing Japanese games for as long as I can remember and Persona 5 is one of the best if not the best in the manner it has been localized, mainly for the fact that the game retains its Japanese identity rather than being "westernized" but also because the humour has been retained. There were a couple of Yakuza games where some of the more risque content was omitted or changed for Western audiences and it was never right and diminished those games. The latest (Yakuza 0 ...

For the last three or four years gamers have been asking for COD to return to a WWII setting. Now we got it - but from some of the comments here, some gamers are now peeved that the setting is Normandy, There is just no pleasing some people.

I am looking forward to see if COD can capture the magic that the first three COD games had with their WW2 stories. I doubt the campaign will be as long as the ones for COD 1 & 2 but I am hoping it won't be also a 7 or 8 ho...
