While indeed PC is by far the largest Gaming platform out there. EA is full of it, first i dont like any of the consolised crap they release these days.
The few bioware games i do like i will be picking up when they are dirt cheap on a Steam discount.
If EA think they can rise prices like they do on console and PC gamers will follow like the sheep console gamers are they should think again. Ubisoft raised prices look what they did with their latest releas...
Charge 60usd for a game make it shorter, charge day 1 dlcs, make it shorter.

Charging 60usd for PC games on DD when you can make more profit even when sell it at 50usd compared to console versions, pure greed imo.
Beta access should be for free. If anyones bought Gears of war 1 or 2 they should be getting a chance to enter the beta.
Making people pre purchase the game just to enter the beta is an underhanded method.

You sould try TF2, its the most fun MP game out there along with L4D2.

Witcher 2 will be better then this any day.
Pc versions already turning up to be an exclusive, since the console versions are no where like the PC version. If this goes through PC version will further differentiate itself from Console.

Aside Crysis and maybe a couple other handful of games i dont see much that will bring your 5870 to its knees.
I would say stick with it, until you see a game that is worth upgrading for.
It also depends on what res you will be playing, if you are playing at 1080p then in 95% of cases 5870 is more then enough. I would either hold of a upgrade until the next consoles or go for a GPU with a new process IE 32NM or lower.
Both are very good, however i prefer Nvidia due to solid drivers.

Atleast 50% of the PC DD market is Steam, ignoring that base isnt a good option. If it was on Steam i personally might have bought it when its on discount. I personally dont even have the option of buying from GFWL since it only works in a limited number of countries.

Well yes 3 years back when high end GPUs were coming out we had a monstrous game called Crysis which GPUs used to struggle to play @1080p above 30fps.
However today even mid range gpus are playing the game in 1080p 40-50fps.
The only thing left to benchmark is running crysis in 1600p and still these cards are pushing 60fps, not many people i know game at 1600p(in fact none), most of my friends game @1080p for which midrange cards are enough(we are talking...
Now theres a developer that takes care of its customer base. None of that Day 1 DLC garbage that we have from EA these days. Even so DLCs are free on PC.
No point of this hardware when there are hardly any games to take advantage of it.
Unless people decide to game on multi screens this sort of hardware is completely unnecessary. Specially these days with games being designed to work with 6 yr old console hardware as well, most 3-4 yr old gpus are enough to run games in 1080p.

I never mentioned PC is the best platform, i mentioned its the biggest platform. Sure in my opinion its also the best platform, but thats just my opionion just like you have your opinion for the PS3.
You should look around how current gen of consoles has introduced the trend of Day one DLC or the Milking of franchises yearly releases of the rehashed game. Since console gamers easily put up with this crap it has its spill over effects all...
