Anyone ever imagined what will happen at the start of next gen?
While both consoles will be starting from a User base of 0, networks like Steam will be having a huge user base advantage. Steam as of 2010 was at 30million paying customers. In the next 2-3 years i predict it will be easily 50million+ add in the rest of the DD networks and we might easily be looking at figures 80million +

Brish we hardly ever have to crack new games. Unless its a game like assasins creed2 and that too if the internet connection is bad.
In my example I was talking about max payne 2 the game had a drm that doesn't allow to play after a certain date. I had to crack it so I could play. I played the game in full hd. In the same example on console u would have to buy a ps2 to make the game work. Hence the console is the drm.

How many of your PS2 games work on your PS3 slim? Do you even know the thousands of usds worth of games that you buy on your current console if they will even work on the next box. You can only hope they give you BC you dont really know.

Lol but Consoles themselves are a DRM. Atleast with PC you can play your games for a very long time. I am currently playing games like:
CS (10years old)
Warcraft 3 (9years old)
GTA sanandreas (atleast 6years old)
Dungeon Keeper 2 (11years old)
Plus many more from my old coll...
There are literally 1000's of mods for Oblivion. I am currently replaying the game with Hi res texture mods and a romance mod

If the Developer allows modding for Skyrim it will be a different game on the PC. So many great RPGs rolling out cant wait.

I didnt say it would happen next gen. I said 10 years later. Gamestop is a business so sure they are trying to look many years down the line.
PC has always been a test market for what is going to come to consoles later. Most people on pc now buy games on DD, this will filter down to consoles wait and watch.

Dude PC games dont die, there are more people playing warcraft 3 currently then most newly released console games.
Its not like consoles where people quit the game as soon as the next rehash is out or developer drops online support(just so people buy the next game).
War 3 may be 9 years old now however I still play it alot, infact its my favorite RTS game. Even today there are about 100,000(at peak times) people playing it everyday.

Think about it, why would MS or Sony want to share its DD profit with Gamestop?
Gamestop can be quickly sidelined if the majority of the sale goes DD just the way its gone DD on PC.

I think it should start of with the casual stuff. I started my wife of with Plants vs zombies she quickly became addicted to it. Later we started playing Worms which was alot of fun. Then she saw me playing TF2, which is a really hilarious game so i bought her a copy and she started playing.
Now we are actually thinking of playing Warcraft 3 together. I already play it alot, shes starting to find it interesting.

who have to pay royalty per game just so we can play.
Who cant play their old games just because BC got taken away.
Who need to pay for HD remakes(our games were released in HD way back ;-)

Gamestop knows sooner or later Consoles will be going digital too(maybe 10years down the line), and since those are controlled platforms all the DD will belong to either Sony or Microsoft with no competition at all.
Hence the only way forward is estabilishing a PC platform. They are already late to the party, Steam is just to strong and too good.
Lol i dont really care about a good exclusive a year consoles do get. If i did, i would be owning one. Rather not pay a tax to Sony or Micro.

Crysis 2 tried, and look at its opening sales. Not even close.
Nothing will beat COD in terms of sales. I dont even think the next COD will beat black ops number, because people seem to be getting tired with it already. Most people i knew who MW2 all year round, dropped black ops few weeks after play, why?
Because the formula is getting old there is no innovation at all. The FPS market is more then over saturated and somethings gotta give sooner or later....

Pc gaming is the way forward mate wether people like it or not.
I have over 150 games on Steam at the moment. When next gen consoles role out. Consolers will be worrying if all those thousands worth of games they bought this gen will even work. Mean While my cheaply purchased library will only keep growing.
Console gamers have historically been brainwashed, that console gaming is cheap, not really when you consider all the expensive software you purchased...
