They should do Underworld comparison as thats the best game among the bunch. PC version is easily superior, cheaper (saw it on sale for 7.5usd), supports custom skins etc.
"But they decided this game would be a cash grab from the consoles".
Would have sold well on PC just like the first one, however sure selling it on 3 platforms will sell better.
Lol its a PC game without the option to customize AA. Wasnt that a feature we got back in 98 and today in 2011 we are getting games with such basic features.
I wonder if the PC gaming community is now going to carry on using Crysis 1 as a standard benchmark, a game which most mid range GPUs play fine these days.
I guess GPU makers wont be selling too many GPUs with these sort of games coming out.
agreed if someone has the PC version then playing anyother version will be pointless.
I personally bought the PC version for 40usd, along with a buddy. Thats 20usd cheaper then the console version.
Maybe its because PC gamers actually have higher standards and wont buy a sequel that technically inferior to its predecessor.
Sure the graphics might be something new for console owners, but for PC owners it looks like a step backward, the game play is no longer open world like the previous game. Its linear like a console corridor shooter. Obviously this doesnt bother console gamer since they are pretty much used to this sort of treatment. Expect DLC announcement very soon...
Good luck getting much sales out of this, No Steam version, launch delay and releasing on the same day as Witcher 2. Looks like they have done everything in their power to ensure the game wont sell. So they can come back later saying the PC version didnt sell.
Its a matter of time Crytek might have shot themselves in the foot.
Crysis 1 sold over 3.5m on PC, warhead sold over 1.5m as of may 2010. Which is very good for a single platform of a new IP.
Note the FPS trend on consoles too, not much sells well these days. Its only COD that sells in the multimillion figures. People are getting tired of the same rehased stuff. Crytek decided to add one more to the list.
I personally think they wont be...
Welcome to captilism at its finest. PC is openplatform hence no one company controls it or benefits from its sales. Consoles on the other hand are privately owned platforms, those companies will do as much as they can to make money.
People are initially deluded by lower price of hardware, only to be greeted with having to pay more for every bit of software they use. There is no such thing is free lunch here. Companies will do everything in there power to milk the base as fa...
Think most PC gamers dont really care about this game anyways, an aggressive DRM will further hamper sales.
Crysis 1 was a must have for PC gamers, because not only was it a great game it was also a benchmark to see PC performance after updates. I dont see Crysis 2 having any of those traits, since its a linear game like most of the shooters out there plus it doesnt really push tech at all, runs fine on dated hardware.
Its few days away from launch and ha...
Get a game like Red orchestra 2, not only is the game something fresh large 32 vs 32 battles, the community it self has the freedom to give you free map updates and new gaming mods even better then any developer can, since they are made by the modding community(people who play to have fun not to make money).
Unfortunately since freedom of modding has been taken away from gamers for most AAA releases from companies like EA or activision you dont see much innovation at all in...
Try Warcraft 3, its one game where the story alone will get you going.
I would strongly recommend people get Warcraft 3 if they havent played it already. its about 9 years old now, though still one of the best RTS games out there. The story is simply epic. If you like the medievil setting, warcraft 3 is a legend. Any laptop can play it today, since the game isnt demanding at all. Those thinking to get into RTS i would recommend they pick this up.
In case you are wondering about the MP, theres still about 50,000 - 100,000 people playing the ga...
COD is already pay to play if you look at it. Most people who play COD buy a yearly release anyways.
All they do for a yearly release is release new maps along with a 4-5hr campaign. plus they release 2-3 dlcs within the year so thats another 15-45usd.
If you look at it people pay nearly 100usd to play COD for the entire year. Next year they jump to the next title and the cycle repeats again.
If they didnt release a new COD every year a...
Well we got witcher 2 coming up, thats gonna look amazing.
Completely agreed. Advances in architecture completely change efficency of a chip.
Take the example of the latest I7 2600k. Although it is very simular to intels last gen. At equal Mhz it will blow away any previous gen I7. Hell it even gives the mighty 980x a run for its money.

The above benchmarks i linked prove even though GTX 580 has about 2.5x more memory bandwidth then the GTX 8800, however it manages to pull figures in cr...
Troy ever considered looking at the memory bandwidth alone of midrange GPUs its atleast 4-5X the amount present on current consoles.
PS3 RSX GPU memory bandwidth- 22.5gb/s
GTX 460 Memory bandwidth- 115gb/s
GTX 580 memory bandwidth- 192GB/s
GTX 580 has atleast 9-10x the memory bandwidth. You cant just compare 1 aspect of GPUs and come to a conclusion.
8800GTX a 4yr old GPU runs most games out today i...
Thats what PC gaming development had alwys been about man. When quake 2 came out no one could play it maxed out, Same with Unreal, again the same happened with quake 3, doom3, Farcry, Half life 2, Crysis.
As we upgraded hardware we could enjoy the game at better settings. All i am saying previously there was a motivation to update hardware enjoy the same game at better settings, this also created sales for Nvidia and AMD. Now since games are made with older hardware in mind...
Agreed,Shogun 2 is amazing man.
When the original Crysis released even the highest end of GPUs were brought to their knees.
I would look at this as a good thing because, as people updated their hardware the game kept getting better. It also ment constant sales for AMD and Nvidia, people buying new hardware just to play Crysis at next level of graphics.
I personally played Crysis 1 at 1024*768 back in 2007(basically about the res console gamers will be playing crysis 2 at). in 2009 i pla...
@fatoldman
no ones debating if you can or cant turn on AA. We know PC gamers have choices to do all that stuff.
However AA question is why all the work arounds, why isnt it in the game be default? no excuse why it shouldnt be.
Also its not just a question of AA, PC gamers generally like to tune the game to their preferance. Why are the options to tune to the game missing?
