Like the article shows later on, Games software piracy is only at 3.3% of the total, majority or torrented files are Movies, Tv shows and music.
Dont think so, Microsoft or Sony would be foolish to launch another 600usd console. Instead the budget would be better utilised towards a better GPU.
SSDs are good for OS performance. Dont think anyone would be excited if their game loaded in 10 secs instead of 15, rather they would want the game itself to run at higher resolutions and FPS(which would need more investment toward a good GPU).
Agreed I7 can easily be overclocked close to the 4ghz mark with a good after market heat sink at those speeds at higher resolutions its the GPU thats the bottleneck not the CPU hence going for a faster CPU wont result in anything.
Infact recent benchmarks from tomshardware suggest even an I7 running at 2.4ghz is enough to max out a GTX 480 @ 1080p with decent AA.
Hence yea anyone with a I7 today might as well ignore Sandybridge.
I just dont see how Sony or MS would want to adobt the X86 architecture for one they would lose all backward compatibility with all their current games (not like they care anyway since they would rather sell the same games as FULL HD remakes next gen).
However going for Sandybridge or Fusion would mean their hardware might be easily emulated on PC. They certainly wont like all their exclusives running on PC at higher resolutions are AA.
Games i enjoyed on the PC this year:
Amnesia
Assassin creed 2
Bad Company 2
Bioshock 2
Civilization 5
Dawn of war 2 chaos rising
Divinity II Dragon Knight Saga
Donkeykong Returns (Emulated on Dolphin)
Dragonage Awakening
fifa 11 (its another game playing on eyefinity)
Grand theft auto episodes
Laracroft and the Gaurdian of light
Mafia II
Mass Effect 2
Its not such an amazing price, i got the game for the same price from Steam several months ago(like almost a year now). An amazing price today would be 5usd. Hell i wouldnt be surprised if it was up for 5usd on the holidays sales on Steam or D2D.
Lol they didnt even release it on the biggest digital platform Steam, anyways its good such garbage stays on the kiddie platform.
Sega Games on PC run beyond 1080p doesnt look like Sega is limited to 720p then.
Good decision on my part to buy this game once its on Discount on steam, The game will be patched up and cheap win win situation.
You ever played a game like Wow, It would be unplayable on controlpad, just too many spells etc. The game would have to severely dumped down to work on control pad. If you havent played Wow i suggest you try a 10day trial, i am sure your opinion would change once you play it. Nearly every class has over a 100 spells and you need fast reflexes to execute all those spells on given targets in a timely manner.
Also i would like to point out, voice communication is not everything ...
Need a keyboard and mouse to do MMOs properly. I just dont think most console gamers are ready for that. Also the fact MMOs need constant updates, currently since PC is an openplatform Blizzard may update at anytime they wish. With a console they would have to run behind the console maker all the time since all updates must be validated. Not to mention Xbox gamers already pay ISP, then Microsoft next they would have to pay to play for the MMO.
Valve just made a sale in October of 73million USD which is a very good sign, the only big game they had was Fallout Vegas, they managed to sell 300k copies just in 10days, Those figures easily rival console sales figures. Think Valve is doing very well.
If we add in the rest of the DD network along with Retail PC, we might end up with figures beyond the PS3 or even the Xbox 360.
Your PC should play games better then the Ps3, Specially most games should run in 1080p. However do not use too much AA, since your GPU is an entry level GPU. Had you spent 50-100usd more and gotten a better GPU in the first place(would have needed a bit of research) your system would have easily run games at 1080p with very good AA.
Here is a link to some benchmarks for your GPU. Asides Crysis 1(which is not on the PS3) It plays all games in 1080p perfectly, between 40-60f...
Not really, 4 year old hardware will outperform consoles. Its not like console hardware magically gains power every year.
Infact having a gaming PC is far cheaper in the long run then any console.
Hidden PC feature, Can actually play original Tombraider in HD :P Mods are available too.
No need to pay any company for upresses ;-)
F1 2010 with DX11 effects is amazing.
I guess you never played games like:
Trine
Torch light
world of goo
Why would you like to pay 60usd for a PS3 version plus DLC when you can all that and superior version on a steam discount for under 10usd lol
The highest end Laptops can barely compete with entry level to midrange desktops of today. I would strongly recommend you get a desktop PC if you are half serious about PC gaming and its not too costly either anything around the range of 600-800usd will make an awesome gaming rig.
"Graphically, the screen seems stretched, and it looks dangerously similar to the PS2 version. "
Great to be a PC gamer, played the game in HD back then. Today easily playable at 1080 or beyond. No need to pay for HD remakes, which probably wont work with the next console lol.
