Isn't that the nature of big business? The CEO will always take credit for what the underlings do and always try to make the company look better no matter what.
The difference was that, while the PS3 DID fail, it was within industry standards. The Xbox 360 was admitted to be over 45% with industry analysts putting it above 55%. Plus, these failures generally occurred within the first year. The PS3 was at roughly 15% (according to analyst...no official word from Sony) and failures occurred much later in the console's life. In the end, MS was facing a class action lawsuit that would have forced them to pay out WAY more than $1 billion. So, they ext...
In sales? Probably not. In licenses? Once again, No. On the pitch? This is where PES can (and IMO DOES) give FIFA a run for it's money.
0!!! Now, compare that to the up to 55% failure rate for the 360 that literally forced MS to spend $2 billion in repairs and replacements to beat the myriad of class action lawsuits that were being prepped. (one which was set with the explicit purpose of proving that MS knew the flaws existed before they released the console.)
I'm not beating up the 360. It was a phenomenon in and of itself. It had the cultural mindshare for the better part of the generation and sold extremely w...
In this comment, you pretty much summed up the completely rational fears of this practice going forward. There's going to have to be a LOT of faith put in these corporations to actually keep the customers in mind. The industry has had a steady creep of additional charges that you 'don't need'. While this seems the next step. I can't really say it's a natural evolution as much as a selective mutation. This one trait (graphics/power) being selected as the one to carry th...
This will be the greatest game!!! I've talked to people and they tell me it will be the greatest game. All other games are low energy. This game will be the gameiest game of all games and it will make America great again!!!
Those numbers don't come from MS replacements. They come from the many gamers that just got tired of waiting for repairs and ended up purchasing an extra console (some purchased more than one extra).
Very difficult task considering that the planets are actually planet sized. That's a LOT of hunting for each and every animal. Plus, those sentinels seem to hunt pretty hard. after a few kills.
Sean goes to planets that he has visited before so that he can provide adequate info on what's going on, what's there, etc. It would be difficult to go to an unknown, unexplored area and provide information about who runs the planet, traders available, resources, etc. It's safer and probably necessary for the purposes of demoing the game.
I agree. But, I temper that sentiment with the thought that technology is often a double-edged sword. Sometimes it makes things more expensive. Yet, it can also make things much easier to do. Let's hope that leaps in tech can financially offset those risky ventures. At the end of the day, it's up to the devs and publishers to decided anyway. Let's hope they choose wisely.
HipHopGamer kinda got the ol' black ball from this site over an argument that called his submissions "not news". But, he continued to do his weekly show on his site and YouTube. Plus, covers gaming for Hot 97's media division. Say what you want about his articles, but there's no way that his interviews should have been banned. We've yet to see the amount of interaction with the movers and the shakers posted here since he left.
As for R&C, it real...
I can fully understand that fear of seeing the same things. But, at least to me, it's not just how they look. It's also about how they react. According to the devs, the animals also have differing behaviors. Some planets have daytime predators and some have nighttime predators. Some animals herd, while others are more solitary. Sean Murray has even mentioned man-eating plants that were attacking other animals. That alone is enough to get me excited. I am also aware that I could be let...
I can see completionists having to move the goal posts to give themselves a sense of completion. Also, those with little imagination might struggle with the loose narrative structure of NMS. Finally, this won't be the game of the dudebro, mp only, competitive gamers.
As for Carl Sagan, he'd be beyond excited. Hell, he'd probably narrate a show based on it.
Sean Murray has said that they have actually deployed test drones to send back data and pics of planets and even they haven't scratched the surface of the number. I'm sure someone will create some code that breaks the barrier...just to say it was done.
What I am hinting at is the almost infinite unknowns in NMS. Even the devs don't really know exactly what you will find planet to planet because of the nature of their procedural generation algorithm. So, in that aspect, it really does relate to our own universe and the discoveries that are made. Sure, we can take highly educated guesses based on what we observe.
Sure, there are limitations to the universe of NMS. But, that is part of gaming. That being said, the wonder of explor...
I hope they give this the Jordan treatment with the iconic games and moments of his career. Love him or hate him. The Black Mamba deserves credit where credit is due.
For EA, there's no rush because they KNOW their customers and there's literally no competition. That 'agreement' was the worst thing to happen to the sim community. It stifled the progression of videogame football for 10 years.
There is an interesting and paradoxical relationship with this game and the gaming community. When games release, often the first thing that people complain about is length. Yet, this game offers the ability to spend as much time as you want and see "different" things. Some people complain about linear games. Yet, this bucks the trend and gives a loose narrative and overarching goal. People worry about DLC, while this game provides a massive (nearly infinite) experience from the jum...
The same can be said for our universe, yet we still wonder.
Does journalism school prepare you to be a....ah nevermind!!! ☺
