You know, there ARE other influencesin on kids besides videogames. The way that he ditched the car and made a run for it smacks of those COPS reruns that are shown in syndication all over the boob tube!!!*LOL*

@Grandreaper999

I really don't buy into the idea of price gouging. Yes, the PS3 is a significantly higher price point than the other consoles. But, if you look at the components one by one, you will find that at launch there was a cost of over $800 (now down to about $450)to produce the PS3. So, Sony gouges by selling it for $599? Now, if the argument is that they made a system purposefully expensive to drive the "unattainable" demand, then I can only say that it makes ...

I am utterly stunned by the ignorance of this so called journalist. He watched the movies, or at least heard of them, and he expected what...Sesame Street!?!?! Look, SAW as a movie franchise is marginal at best. The first was actually GOOD, while the others seemed to decline rapidly. However, this follows the usual horror movie theme. The first one is usually good and the others start to run out of thrills. Speaking of thrills, that's the premise of the game. Cheap horror and gory thrills. So...

Unfortunately, this is definitely a sign of the times. Everything has been forced into an "entertainment" model. The more "entertainment" that is introduced, the more people will try to "one-up" the competition. Facts are no longer enough for the average person. We can blame this on a host of various things, but when it comes down to it. Technology has allowed access to more and more. Breaking "news" can be sent via text, therefore the news anchor no lo...

Man...this takes me WAY back. I used to have Cali games, Winter games, World games, and both Summer games. Man, I spent many an hour trying to set and beat records on those things. My favorite sport on this one was the surfing. That was just pure entertainment!!! *LOL* Mindless enjoyment for all!!!

Okay...so I personally don't get the argument. You don't go to BMW and demand that they sell their cars for the price of a KIA. You don't got to a mansion and wonder why it is not the price of a condo. Yet, when it comes to a "high-end" gaming machine. You scream that the price is too high. Come off of it!!! The price drop WILL move units. This is a known fact. But, at what cost? If SONY is not in the proper financial space to do that, we could see the next generation without a Sony...

I think that was the intent of the statement. He has ALWAYS said that parents need to be parents and stop putting OTHER priorities over what should be most important for a child's future....education. Obama doesn't hate videogames....he got a free Wii for god's sake. He just hates that the priorities of America have shifted away from the importance of education.

If that is indeed the case...and your analogy holds true...XBOX will soon be on the decline and will be held at least partially responsible for ruining true gaming!!! I hope that isn't the case.

It's funny because I don't log on to HOME more than once a month or so. However, when I DO...it is usually quite entertaining. But, I think that most gamers are missing the point of HOME. It was not meant to be THE place to game. It was just meant to be a social network where you could meet NEW people to play games with. I think that it hasn't quite delivered on the promise that was set forth. But, just like any idea in it's infancy, it will take time to see what it grows up to be. Right now,...

If you look at trailers for what they ARE...then it is REALLY hard for them to lie. Videogame trailers have gone the way of MOVIE trailers. They are meant to give you a 2-3 min. snapshot of what you should expect when you play the game. It just so happens that they usually give you the BEST part of the movie/game to judge. Point being, if you spend $60 based on a 3 min. snapshot...well you were the target audience. Personally, I take trailers with a "grain of salt". Most of them no...

Seems like slim seems to attract people who somehow think that they have the newest, hottest, thing. I can remember the same thinking going into the DS lite and the PSP slim. For some reason, smaller electronics translates to "I gotta have it". As far as the price cut, if the SLIM is a cheaper version of the original, then it is the only logical step. Sony has reduced the size of some of the components from the original simply by ridding itself of the PS2 innards that used to be the...

As a teacher myself, of science and math, I find WAY too often that kids these days DON'T have parents tell them when to put away the videogames, turn of the tv, and let's not start with the late night texting! I have students that literally will come to school on 2-3 hrs. of sleep complaining to me that they stayed up all night playing halo or watching some movie. Education has become secondary in this country to entertainment. People will pump millions upon millions of dollars into the next...

It's funny. I hate peas...always have...probably always will. I don't keep tasting peas and complaining because they don't taste different. If you don't like HHG...then don't watch. As previously stated, he's on every Sunday and has his usually list of topics on the link. You KNOW what it is!!! I find it interesting that he discuses things that we might talk with our gaming friends about, yet he gets castigated time and time again. You can't knock his passion, his vision, or his constant grin...

The gay/lesbian/bi-sexual statistics are valid as a indicator of increased prevalence in a specific population. However, this doesn't indicate that the lifestyle itself is unhealthy. When studying populations, you will find these trends are simply because populations are locked. For example, hemophilia is found in a higher rate amongst those of anglo-saxon decent. Does that mean it is unhealthy to be anglo? Tay-sachs much more common amongst Jews. This is more of an indicator that when a popu...

It's NOT the disagreement that I have a problem with. It it the rationalizing and marginalizing of an entire group of people that is at the center of this issue. YOU have every right to your opinion, however, I have the right to state how "short sighted, and bigoted" it may sound. As I stated before, I have hope that you are not as shallow as you seem. The use of the word "tolerance" as if that is a chore suggests a hint of bigotry. Civility goes far beyond tolerance, ther...

@Jimmy Lee
All of those statistics look impressive. But if you know about numbers, then you know that they could say anything. Your percentages don't speak of the numbers that they were taken out of. (6/10, 60/100, 600/1000, all 60%) The heart of the matter is that public health officials do cohort studies...that is on specific groups of people. This means they have statistics on homosexuals, teens, blacks, whites, etc. This is used to identify dangerous trends, not to persecute entire ...

This kind of reminds me of that first fight that we all have with a significant other. You know...say some hurtful things...take cheap shots...then apologize and have the make-up. The article has it's points. Yes...Sony is confident even arrogant at times, but that is hubris. It is designed to get people to fully "drink the Kool-ade". The ten year plan is a vestige of prior Playstation business models. They don't mean they won't have a new console. What they mean is that they will n...

The average consumer (read casual gamer) doesn't really look for the TECH that is in a system. All that they care about is that they got the new...hot...(fill in the blank)!!! It's really about marketing and mindshare. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Wii took the world by It was EVERYWHERE!!! Even non-gaming events were sponsored by XBOX 360. This garnered mindshare over Playstation. So, the PS3 is playing catch up in several ways. There WILL be a price cut...and it will be along t...

See, this should NOT be a problem as a parent. If you want your child to do something....then there are consequences if it is not done. This calls up the "NATION OF WIMPS" idea of this generation of parenting. Take the "kid gloves" and "soft shoe" off and be a parent. How are you the authority figure when you can't even get your child off of a videogame system??? Too many parents are so worried about being the "bad guy", but that is exactly what parents...
