There's so much ignorance on both sides of this argument that it's getting pretty ridiculous. Extremists on both sides are complaining about a situation that is far more nuanced than just black and white. (pun intended) There's a LOT of gray area. Not everything that is related to race is racist, even decisions that might be based on it. At the same time, there are practices that are common in business and marketing that are indeed highly discriminatory in nature. (only 'black...
Actually, in my experiences with Japanese culture, black people (women especially) are considered cool and edgy. There's an entire trendy movement in Tokyo where Japanese women excessively tan themselves, braid their hair, and wear gaudy clothing in the misguided attempt to represent some aspect of black women.
So, if they would've went with the dragon idea, who would the game be for again???
As for your demographics idea, you sound like the corporate big wigs that continue to justify this practice. This thought actually diminishes the demographic into small minded, myopic, bigoted people BECAUSE of the assumption that people wouldn't buy it with a black woman on the cover.
I am SHOCKED!!!/s
I wouldn't be opposed to a roundup show that gives some quick updates of news, reviews, and interviews. It doesn't have to be daily. (IMO, that leads to stretching content and adding filler) Who knows, with the rise of eSports, I wouldn't be shocked to see some sort of coverage (like local sports news) being pushed along with the push toward eSports.
Agreed. @Starchild and Ken. We are in the meme generation. People don't often think past the pithy words that they see in memes and are often reluctant to express anything more than what the masses will accept (aside from the hipsters who do the opposite...with the intention of getting similar attention). See CoD. Apparently hated...Yet sells a crap ton! That tells me that words and deeds are at odds.
Personally, I'd just not look at N4G as any reflection on the realities of ...

You could literally replace Uncharted with any other franchise and say the same thing..."it was the same thing over and over". Videogames are by nature formulaic. You pretty much do the same things. What separates them are the characters, the narratives, the settings, the graphics, the technical merit. etc. Red Dead and GTA are essentially the same game. We've played the same FPS's over and over since Doom. (sure mechanics have evolved) The point is that videogames are repet...
It's just franchise fatigue. It happens to the best of them.
If you thought Battleborn was a pure 'shooter', that's probably part of the reasoning that you enjoyed Overwatch more. It's the better choice as a shooter by far. Battleborn characters do shoot (or throw), but it's not meant to be a typical shooter. It's more MOBA inspired.
Agreed! Comparing the two, IMO, is extremely short sighted. Both look like classic hero shooters until you play them. Battleborn is more MOBA influenced and Overwatch is more influenced by TF2 and classic arena shooters. Simply put, as you said, different strokes for different folks.
Word to yo motha!!!--Vanilla Ice (Gangsta Supreme!!!) 😁
Wrong!!! It's exactly a 9.6541287!!!😄
Agreed!!! It's pretty difficult to perceive and justify a 0.2 fluctuation in a score. Scientifically, tools are limited by precision. (anything after the initial scale becomes an inaccurate guess) I am assuming that this applies to review scales as well (understanding that they are FAR from scientific). Those decimals provide the perception of being more accurate than the average scale while, at the same time, actually showing an obvious lack of precision...unless someone can prove and sh...
Awesome history lesson and great idea to introduce them into this game. Dating all of the way back to the Civil War, there are a litany of groups of soldiers just like this. Soldiers fighting for a country that, at the time, was not fighting for them. The books might make them a footnote. But, they are no less important than any other service group that distinguishes itself on the battlefield and possibly more important simply because of the obstacles that they faced on and off the battlefiel...
Even the guy that 'invented' the moon walk constantly praised the fact that Michael not only popularized it, but made it look effortless and cool. IMO, that's similar to what devs do. They appreciate and fully understand what it takes to make an outstanding game.
IMO, while they appear similar (not meaning graphics), they are pretty different games. Overwatch is more of the hero shooter in an arena. Battleborn is more MOBA than strictly arena shooter. Different strategic approaches for each game. Overwatch has more TF2 dna. While Battleborn seems to be the Frankenstein monster of Borderlands (graphics, writing, loot), Smite (3rd person MOBA), and a smattering of TF2 (for the capture points game types). Both are fun on their own rights. But, they are p...
I agree. WD was a solid foundation for a first run. IP. Albeit, the character development was pretty poor for Aiden (which kinda hurt the narrative). But, it DID bring some interesting things to the table. I loved the gang hideouts and the variety of ways you could tackle them. The shooting and cover system was pretty great also. The driving was the best, but you get used to it.
A lot of the backlash for this game is simply from the graphics controversy and the high expectations hea...
This is true.
@moldybread...Sony didn't TRY to charge anything...they DID...and you forgot to mention they did that at a financial LOSS. Sure, PS3 was a sort of Trojan Horse. for Blu Ray. But, lets not act like that was the ONLY reason. Sony saw that a new, higher capacity storage medium was needed to keep from having to disc swap. So, they helped to create one and diversify it to include movies. That's not tyrannical. That's smart, aggressive business. Not to mention that they included other f...
