Good for them because they really don't have to. The Neo and Scorpio are niche consoles, much like high end PC's. While tech heads will go crazy for them, the mass market will continue to go for where the games are, where their friends are, and where mindshare tells them to go. With a 2:1 share of the market, all Sony has to do is keep pace and keep pumping out games...neither of which shows any signs of slowing down.

Sony has "announced" nothing. However, they have "confirmed that it exists". That's it. Everything else is still rumor and speculation. The rumors and speculation led them to finally admit to the Neo being a thing. But, no specs, no plans, no games, etc. have been confirmed or announced. It's very much like they handle most console rumors. Yeah, we'll probably make one. But, we're not ready to talk about it yet.

I don't see it as "twist this into being bad" as much as it is reflecting on their direct experience with the introduction to the PS4. I remember thread after thread of "but they didn't show the box" and " why show it now if you don't have a box to show?" comments. Apparently, Sony took that to heart when thinking about this announcement. As for knowledge of forethought, well, that's pretty much moot with a mid-gen update as is. None of us expecte...

The price point will be interesting as it could bring back the age old discussions around the PS3 launch and it's price point. I seem to recall a LOT of "I'd never pay over $400 for a console" around that time.

I don't think that his "ghetto gibberish", as you call it, is meant to be funny. It's meant to express that aspect of his youth and his culture. By culture, I don't just mean his race, because this is how many young people (at least in America) speak. Not just poor or "ghetto" kids either. It's just some of the varied vernacular that the younger crowd uses.

This! Aiden was the complete brooding, macabre, somber trope of a character. There was very little that separated him from all of the others that we've played. While that alone wasn't horrible, he just lacked any profundity whatsoever. Marcus is definitely skewed younger. He seems to take himself a bit less seriously (probably ALSO because he's younger). Maybe this is the beginning of his journey into becoming a more thoughtful man. Maybe something happens along the way to make hi...

I can see Anonymous, but there aren't any ties to BLM...other than his color. Hacktivists already have a "social" agenda. So, once again, not seeing the BLM ties. (nor would I have an issue if they did)

You make it seem as redundant as just pressing a button. Each encounter with these robots has played out differently. In fact, at last year's E3, they showed a different approach to the same battle. Each robot has different strengths and weaknesses to exploit. Plus, they have barely touched on the narrative. It's been confirmed that there are some sort of tribal interactions (maybe quest related).
In the end, as Dante said, every game can be boiled down to the simple rinse a...

That's it's best asset. But for the Xbox platform, Xbox Live is arguably it's best feature.

While Yakuza is definitely an acquired taste, I absolutely love it. It's got a wit and charm that's unique to the series. Plus, it really does explore some of the more quirky aspects of Japanese culture. Having lived there for 3 years (though ages ago) it reminds me of what I enjoyed about being there AND what I missed when I was there as a kid.

It wasn't as bad as porn over-dubs from the 80's or old Kung Fu flicks, but it was damn close. Lol. I actually used to play MAG with a guy that insisted on talking that way. He felt that it added "immersion". I felt like it just made him look silly.

That's very interesting and makes some sense because Odin was one of the few gods in Norse mythology to actually interact with humans. Maybe Kratos will train Thor only to have to confront him once he's a god? (in a future installment)

Therein lies the rub. It's not a total philosophy change so much as the way that it is explained. From day one MS has always seen the Xbox brand as a service. Xbox Live being the flagship of that service. However, in the beginning, that was considered a "bad" word. Now that we have been beaten into submission by various services, it is more appealing to must say it. Hell, look at many of Balmer's quotes over and over and you see the term "service" mentioned over an...

Minus the Kinect, MS should have been within that margin as well. In a parts breakdown, which we know isn't ALL the cost related to hardware, each console on day one of launch was only selling at a deficit of $30-$45 if I remember correctly. Both, by now, should be selling at a profit per unit basis. Whether or not that recoups money for the entire company is solely on dollars spent on other factors such as R&D, structure of the divisions, etc.

While I agree there's a fair amount of shade involved in the actual statement, I don't think the overall idea is pointless. The point of upgrading technology is to get the best there is and hope that it will last. However, if it's going to be outdated so quickly, it might give pause for some. Will they release a Scorpio two in another couple years? Will this become an endless cycle of consoles chasing PC's without really being able to catch up? Will any of that matter if you j...

People aren't putting down MS for making games available for PC and a wider audience. They are commenting on the idea that putting most of the major console exclusives on PC could inevitably render the need for a console useless. Both are business moves. One is more likely to increase the perceived value of the console, while the other is more likely to increase the profile of the company...but possibly at the expense of the actual console.

This is what people are missing. Kratos is a tragic hero. He's a tortured soul who uses that very same torture to exact his revenge. In his quest to rid himself of the gods, he becomes very much like them in his seeming lack of humanity. He has to shed his mortal thoughts and beliefs in order to fight these often whimsical gods on their own terms. It's hubris at it's finest (the very idea that a mortal can avenge himself against immortals)
The beginning of this story seem...

They were even self-aware enough to realize that it would probably be underwhelming...at very least in comparison to what was shown. My guess is that it was part of the arrangement with Activision to get Crash remastered.

Yet another thing that was right...time. They didn't waste it on sales numbers and over-produced stage shows. They just showed game after game. The pace was perfect. The length was too. It was what every other conference would be without the fluff.
Also, as you said, for the naysayers thinking that this is it. They have forgotten the deluge that was dropped last year. Shenmue is still coming. FFVII remake is still coming. Dreams is still coming. No Man's Sky and Wild? Still ...
