While most core gamers agree, it's not US who are unwilling to pay. It's the mass market that will balk at that price for a console. (Even though most of their phones are pushing upwards of $900) The masses bring the money. They have yet to be convinced of a console worth that much... technology be damned. They don't care for the APU, GPU, RAM talk. They just wanna play the newest games...IF the price is right. That price has been around $300-$400.

The difference is that the phone market showed that this was possible and consumers were willing to pay. Thus far, the console market has not. People, right or wrong, have raged every time a suggested price point has exceeded that sweet spot of $400. Xbox thrived partially on he fact that PS3 was $600, even though a comparable Xbox setup would have cost well over $700 (adding HD DVD playback) That made console maker wary of higher prices, which is why the PS4 and XBox One were middle ranged i...

IDK about MS after this beefy mid-gen upgrade, but Sony was a lot more conservative in theirs. They didn't go all in because they knew that they had plans for a complete transition with the next console. The Pro seems to be much more of a bridge to another gen. The One X seems more like a new console, especially compared to the One. I won't be surprised if MS releases a new console. But, the timing will have to be right to keep their consumers happy. IDK about you, but I'd be kind...

The victory is in the modest success itself. There was a HUGE amount of doubt as to whether VR could succeed on a "lesser" platform.
Also, that's not a SONY fanboy problem....that's a fanboy problem. MS, Nintendo, PC-elitist...all fanboys justify. It's part of the very nature of a fanboy.

Of the interest in PS4 will be the bulk of their sales, that is meant to be the trojan horse for VR. They are offering integrated products, as well as standalone, for that reason. They can appeal to their customer base without splitting it. How pissed would people be if RE7 was VR ONLY?
Although your profit v. revenue statement holds water, what you also have to realize is that the first step into any tech is getting it out there. It seems as though they've done a decent job at ...

They also starve their audience for games so that a regular saltine cracker can end up tasting like a Ritz cracker. I'm not saying that their games are bad. They aren't at all. But, there's a different level of detail and depth (visual, audio, even story) between Sony Ip and Nintendo. Nintendo has completely mastered their style of games and are happily, and justifiably reaping their rewards. However, where's the risk? When do we see something completely new? Sony, on the othe...

So, it's about profits? That's the hang-up? You must hate the Sistine Chapel? What about the works of Mozart? Divinci? Shakespeare? Yeah, most of that was not art for art's sake. It was paid for by some dude.
Your profit thinking is extremely myopic in terms of art. Artist have to make a living, too. Add to this that many works of modern and past art weren't just pieces. They were, in fact, political, moral, and social commentaries prsented as art.
Not every...

Considering the context of he violence, it makes complete sense. The clip was chosen to create discomfort with the violence and not promote it. Which is exactly what it seemed to achieve. This is an adult game with adult themes and, hence, a mire intense level of violence IN CONTEXT with the narrative. The way people are complaining, it seems like some clip from a back alley snuff film.
In the end, Sony decided to appeal to people in a more visceral way using violence as a means. Tha...

They mostly follow trends and go where the money is. There's not as much money to be had in single player DLC in comparison to MP microtransactions. The risk vs. reward is not enough for most. MP games can be artificially extended with map packs, skins, weapon packs, etc. SP games try that...but there usually isn't as much incetive to get them because the experience is limited to the length of the story. Plus, it's a new generstion of gamers that have a more pick up and play...get...

Don't own Forza or GTS, but Drive Club really holds up well graphically. That engine that they developed was a beast and knowing what they did with it is truly amazing. Nothing pre-baked. Every ancillary asset in the distance (like trees) is really fully realized AND the distance is real. Actual physics down to water particles. Even the driving itself was tweaked to be what it was. Early QA testing had it being substantially more sim than the hybrid style that was released. Plus, the bike...

This is awesome AND a great reminder that being diagnosed with autism is not the end of life as they know it. It's just radically different. Also, it's a great way to showcase autism as a spectrum disorder. Many people function at a high level with autism, as your cousin seems to have. It's truly about understanding the individuals limitations and then working to improve or work with those limitations.

This is the result of extremes. When extremes, regardless of which, are given too much credence the middle gets lost. People automatically feel like they have to adopt one or the other for fear of being labeled as the opposite. You see it with the sjw/anti-sjw crowds. You see it with race. Liberal v. conservative. Religion v. Atheist. etc., etc.
There's often no room for the nuance that most of these topics require because the extremes are busy not listening, holding their stubbo...

I'm with you. If it looks good, try it. If it tastes good, eat it. I learned that the "hard" way. I ate camel burgers for 2 days in Egypt before I found out it was camel. (Also had KFP...Kentucky Fried Pigeon...okay not confirmed, but those. were the smallest chicken parts I've ever seen) I had a favorite Mexican joint that closed for mixing horse meat into their taco meat mixture. I miss it.
I'll say that I'd have a hard time watching the butchering proces...

There are 9 countries that are known to eat cat and dog meat. Among them are China, Korea, and Vietnam. Mostly, it takes place in highly populated and low income areas where "regular" meat is too expensive for the average person living there. In parts of Mexico, people also ate cat and horse meat. (though the popularity of cat meat has declined) So, it's not as far fetched as you might think. Remember, pets are a modern convenience. Culturally, WE have put the intouchable label ...

Many people have paid for rights to an engine. It's only natural to assume that whoever you paid the rights to will have the superior knowledge of said engine. Therefore when you purchase that engine, or do business with a larger entity with the monetary power of Epic, there's always this chance. Unless they got some no-compete clauses in writing, which I highly doubt, Bluhole is probably not in position to do more than complain. Did they patent any dev processes or ideas? Or, which i...

Actually, they made it a bit more of a grind to make progress as you can't just buy the coveted badges when you reach a statistical milestone. Previuosly, once you reached the lower threshold of a badge (bronze), you could just purchase the silver and gold levels. Now, you gotta earn them. You could always buy your atandard upgrades (to a point) right up front. The pushback mostly comes from cosmetic changes, like haircuts, that you have to pay for.
Their MT system has been slipp...

That's a good point. The critical thinking aspect of gaming is often overlooked in terms of what gamers desire. Combining that with the need for constant adaptation due to the dynamic nature of sims, which is more representative of reality than faux randomness, and it becomes it's own unique experience each time you play.
