@Pistols...when you say "everybody is a little racist" that's not true. Everybody is prejudiced. We constantly make snap judgments and place people in mental categories based on our experiences and perceptions of people. However, racism is much stronger than just that. It's the buy-in and belief that another person is inferior (for whatever reason) and thus is not afforded the same treatment as you. True racism is almost doctrine (though there's no 'Bible' of sor...

I would say that, while flawed, it had potential. Much like Ubisofts 1st run IP. I could see where they were trying to go. They just didn't quite make it. It's the same way I felt with the first Assasins Creed. WD was hyped beyond imagination by the media, the devs, and gamers alike. But, being an early title for this gen, that was to be expected. But, there were some things to like. Aside from the driving, the fundamental mechanics were solid and worked well. In fact, the third perso...

Gotta remember this is fresh off of Jim Crow so there was still the 3/5th of a man, drop of 'black' blood makes you black mentality. With those rules, and DNA technology today, a HUGE portion of America would be black today. Lol

If I remember correctly, he just got back from the military. Thus, he is still sporting the haircut of a soldier.

The racism is directly related to that particular time in history. So, it's not the devs stereotyping so much as it is trying to remain true to history.

@joeorc...While I DO remember that particular demo, I STILL don't think the primary motivation for the MOVE controllers, at that time, was to capitalize on the VR future. It was to capitalize on the Wii craze and the potential to draw in 'casuals'. (that's not a BAD thing at all...but it DID take some focus away from core games, especially for MS) That being said, Sony is versatile enough to be able to utilize assets to their advantage. The MOVE being perfect for the 1:1 inter...

So true. While I enjoyed the first game (I know I'm not supposed to admit that...lol), Aiden was pretty shallow as a character. So much so that the ancillary characters seemed to dwarf him in terms of depth or at very least potential.

@Spartanlemur...isn't it great to have that choice not to experience that in any form???

I don't see this as "teaching nasty racists" so much as taking a journey in another man's shoes. (like most lead characters) It just that this particular man faces things that many don't face on a day to day basis. (also like most lead characters...assuming you don't own a plasma rifle. lol)

In the end, as long as it's not overly pre...

They tried that last generation. While it gave them momentum, it didn't sustain them to the end. (not to mention that the motion control fad drove MS and Sony mad with lust for money and "casual' gamer support) IMO, MS needs to keep listening to its fans. It needs to weather the storm (much like Sony had to do in the early days of the PS3). Mostly, it needs to continue to focus on providing more gaming options outside of the tried and true. The risks might not provide immediate f...

The crazy thing about that (whether they failed or not is partially subjective) is that, while trying these new things, the flagship console never really suffered in the long run. Sony has been juggling multiple consoles at a time for the better part of 20 years. (old and nee gen, old+new+handheld, etc.) It's a bit par for the course at this point.
As for VR, IMO, Sony is just trying to get there first for consoles. They want to be an established name when and if it takes off. I...

Ahhh, but you're missing the link. The new hipster sees this as a trend to buck. Isn't that what hipsters do? They have to be athletic just to put on a pair of those super skinny jeans. They think that they made nerdy cool to counter the dudebro culture. I got nothing for the blackness. Lol (and I'm black!!!)
In all seriousness I think, if they develop this character better than the first, there are some places where people can relate. Firstly, the idea of getting back at...

His race is part and partial to what has happened to him and how he reacts. It seems kinda central to setting the narrative.

Agreed. The writing was very similar in tone and style to the Borderlands series. (which didn't seem to bother too many people and often garnered praise) It was the MOBA styled approach that threw people off. It's very love or hate in that manner. I thought it was different enough to be interesting and fun enough to play with multiple characters in the beta. I probably would have bought the game if I wasn't broke. lol

I didn't hear "moans". I heard more grunts and guttural reactions to striking and being struck with a sword. Drake also grunts while punching and definitely while climbing. As for Master Chief, well, he's more in the vane of the strong, silent protagonist projecting the aura that nothing hurts him. (don't know if that lack of reaction is on purpose, but it makes sense)

PES has a crap load of clubs. Just not licenses. It has at least 2 tiers of English, French, Spanish, and Italian leagues. It has Portuguese, Brazillian, Argentinean League, and Chilean leagues. It even includes Australian and Japanese leagues. It has the Champions League and Europa League (fully licensed), the Eredivise, Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana. Plus, the option to literally create your own cups and leagues. The big missing league...the Bundesliga, only had 3 licensed teams. ...

Even better comparison....Madden vs. NFL 2K.

That proves that FIFA is more popular (which we all know). Doesn't really point toward which one is BETTER. The "fact" of the matter is that, while it doesn't sell as well, PES has a pretty devoted fanbase (so much so that they work on and share option files) and last years game was a critical success. (to the surprise and possibly chagrin of videogame football fans)
This debate will go on and on. Each side has it's fanboys. So, I won't say one is better tha...
