Said this in a comment yesterday and a couple of people argued with it. It's the business of licensing an IP. Giving it away for free risks the future potential of the IP for paid licensing. EA paid a pretty penny for the rights to use Stat Wars. While I hate that EA might be in sole control of the license (don't know the details of the agreement), I understand the business aspect. It sucks for the fans, and especially for the ones that made this project. But, EA didn't become thi...
C'mon now...seriously....even Sean Murray has tried to stem people's expectations. He's often had to reel in those who were previewing the game by saying "that's not in our game" or "that's not what we were aiming for" when journalists ambitions started to outpace what the game was doing. The only thing that hasn't been shown are the things that Hello Games wants YOU to discover...the secrets. They wanted to create an aura of mystery around how the ...
It's your world and your imagination...go wild!!
Too bad that Ubisoft doesn't control the release of their games....oh wait!!!
Seriously, they probably won't get "perfect", but they can take the time to make sure that games are tested thoroughly. But, that would cut into the mass production cycle that they've adopted. It seems to me that the idea of patching a game has led to releasing early and less refined games, rather than improving upon a stable core experience. It just sounds like they are providing lip ...
It probably has a lot to do with licensing. These "big companies" paid big money for the rights to use the Star Wars IP. No matter how good the fans do with mods or their own creations, it does set a bad precedent to allow them to just use assets that others would have to pay for. It cheapens the value of the IP as a licensing tool and revenue generator. Now, if anybody wanted to create a Star Wars game, and not pay, they can point to the modders and say "they didn't have t...
They've been "streamlining" for over 2 years and it's finally starting to pay off. The electronics sector (mostly TV and PC), aside from Playstation, was dragging them down. But, the reason isn't that they flood the market. It's that they didn't move as fast as the competition in creating less expensive alternatives. They wanted to remain the high-end choice in an industry that kind of lost respect for the idea of paying for quality. On average, people aren't...
That might not be the ONLY reason!!! j/k In all seriousness, it's just a false assumption, a meme, that gets bounced around and said so many times that people take it as gospel. (as evidenced by this article that fails to tell the entire story) Playstation is generally the 5th largest revenue generator for Sony. However, the Playstation subsidiary outperformed several of the other divisions in a fiscal year. So, naturally, people run to the keyboards to back up the meme. The only thing th...
Yes!!!
Think it's bad now, just wait for the dumpster fires that will be the reviews. (not saying that I expect them to be one way or another) There will be plenty of concern trolls and just out and out trolling. (fanboys will fanboy)
I think it's a tad disingenuous to say, now, that the graphics "suck" or are "ok". They are just what they were...part of a minimalistic art style that are representative of the sci-fi comics and book covers from the 1950's. Plu...
The comment can't be "borderline racist" because Nintendo isn't a race. It's stereotyping. But, I agree with your assessment. Fanboys will fanboy. No console is above it and we all don't have to stoop that low.
Kinda sounded like the Borg but, I get it, you're excited to own a Playstation. No worries, though. Sony shows no signs of giving up the good fight. It would have been easy to do so post-PS3, and they fought it out. Now, they are selling PS4's like crazy. (and at a profit) So, for the foreseeable future, Playstation is in good hands. Their other divisions have suffered here and there, but they are doing well overall. The adjustments to the recession and the reorganization of the compa...
Exactly!!! 😌
Art style is different from graphics...which is different from graphical fidelity and resolution...which is different from framerate. So, if you can have them all, why not take it. If you can't, either because the devs can't do it or your console can't do it, then play what you get. It's no less enjoyment either way. Also, let's not pretend like it's a PlayStation only thing. It's an insecurity thing. (see comparison articles, Neo v. Scorpio, and just about any exc...
But, we ALL know they will happen. Par for the course at ol' N4G.
I see what you are saying, but the basis of this conversation isn't about Nintendo just being successful. It's Nintendo returning to their former success because "they did it before". You'd have to admit that Nintendo has kind of lost their way a bit after the booming success of the Wii. IMO, they've been flailing around a bit trying to grasp at success with no plan, other than the franchises that they know we all love, Where's the plan? We see them venturing int...
That's one of the first things that I thought about after the Death Stranding reveal. Whales will strand (beach) themselves for several reasons: sickness, child birth gone wrong, weather, sonar miscues, or following others (running to and from danger). There's no real link between whales and Japanese religions (though fish have prominent placement in many religious celebrations). There IS a cultural link that's kind of interesting in that, post WWII, whale meat was a main source o...
The trade off for being able to run "homebrewed applications", might be a decent trade off for the price of a good sized memory card. The PSP sold well after "homebrew".. I wonder if the Vita can have an afterlife?
It's called the 7th circle of Hell. lol
The art style is supposed to be reminiscent of those sci-fi book covers and comics of the 1940's and 50's. There are videos with the team, and even the writer, looking at those types of images for inspiration. It was NEVER supposed to be a hyper-realistic, graphical marvel. Most of the allure of the game is in the concept itself (at least for me). I just hope that it delivers on the experience that the devs have outlined (keeping my dreams out of it) in the several interviews and vide...
I had this issue about 2 weeks ago. Apparently, it's those spam comments about making money that are causing the issue. In attempt to block some of that, they also blocked some IP addresses that are used by us. It was fixed, once I figured out how to contact them outside of this site (internal contacts were blocked as well, had to use twitter).
