Obviously Sony got involved early on, in that they liked what they saw and wanted it on their console. (much like any other indie game) What is basically being said is that they didn't interfere with the development process. So, what you see is what Hello Games had planned for the game. and not a direction that was influenced by Sony.
With the history that Hello Games has, there's still a possibility that it could go to other platforms...just after whatever time Sony has agr...

This is an open structure game. Which means, after the initial objective of powering up and repairing your ship, you have the choice of proceeding in anyway you like. Each planet is littered with "objectives". Some are as simple as shelter (which is important in storms or hostile environments like toxic rain). Others are like colonial outposts, where you can trade, interact with NPC aliens to gain standing, and even occasionally get tech upgrades. Then, there are monoliths which con...

So, in the end, HIS expectations weren't aligned with that if the development team. He wanted a pure exploration game, and they were gunning for more of a survival game.
I can see this becoming a bit of a theme in reviews. Hopefully, though, they will be able to see past those expectations and review the game for what it IS and not what they expected. (He's already hinted at slowly being able to see their vision for the game) Regardless, I agree with him that it is a technic...

I can understand that point of view. But, it's not "just about walking around". There ARE different weapons, different ships, etc. "Shooting rocks" (mining) is just the foundation for surviving. Mining allows you to craft upgrades for your weapons, ship, and exosuit. Which, in turn, allows you to venture further into space. Plus, Hello Games has said that base building will be part of an update coming "soon".

I always thought the same thing since the demos. They are both hero shooters. But, Overwatch is more like Team Fortress 2 in execution. Whereas, Battleborn is more like SMITE or even Paragon. (first person versions of more traditional MOBA like LoL and DOTA) Overwatch feels more like traditional PvP that we have been used to. Battleborn is more like the newer PvP in MOBA that requires a different approach. (taking out towers, minions, inhibitors, etc.) I think that's part of the reason th...

It's the procedural generation rendering the planet as you traverse it. It actually stabilizes pretty quick. Haven't seen the PC version, yet. But, better hardware should be able to push that work a bit faster.

It's not a game for everybody. Many people don't like the idea of not having a plot or a story or even narrative driven objectives. So, it just doesn't click. However, the "hype" came from the initial reveal and the fact that there is this mysterious universe filled with almost infinite possibility (much like our own). For anybody who is a science or astronomy "geek", this is right up their alley. Even for many sci-fi enthusiasts, this hits that special place.....

I think so. I watched someone try to just move to the center of the universe in the galactic map. Let's just say he gave up after 5 min. of star systems whizzing by. This game is absolutely mammoth. I know it said 18 quintillion, but who has ever seen that many of anything. There's no real frame of reference until you just see how seemingly endless it is. I haven't played, yet. But, if there's one thing that they got right is the immense sense of the universe.

It's ridiculous for many reasons. The main one being that they are needed. It seems like somewhere between the 6th and 7th generation of gaming, the industry forgot about the mid-level games. You know, the ones that used to fill the gaps between your most wanted, AAA IP? They were often good, rarely great. But, what they did was to take risks in genre and style. Today, we get companies that are afraid to take risks because of the costs of development. So, mostly, we get sequels and "...

Not all indies are equal. Though you have used the definition that some people have CHOSEN to use (smaller, budget, etc.), it's not the true definition. The true definition is simply a game from a studio or developer that is not attached to a publisher and has to seek out publishing. (just like indie bands, and indie movies) The scope of the game or cost of the game doesn't change that. Now, the studios are usually smaller and less known. Which, is pretty much the difference between t...

Did you miss MoveTheGlow's link? It's a description straight from the dev's mouth. It's upstream a bit from your post, but it basically spells out everything.

Just have a third guy in the cockpit whose only job is to pew-pew when the weapons are fired. 😄

Pretty much lays out everything. Plus, drops the nugget of potential base building and freighter piloting in the future. This game can be enhanced in so many ways in the future, it's ridiculous. Of all of the negative things about patches, this is one of the positives...the ability to add to the experience...and without DLC.

As much as I don't like Diddy as an artist (rapper), I do think he was an above average producer in his time. He's got a decent ear for music and what can be done with it. As long as he's not shoving just his own artist and work down our throats, I guess it will be fine. There's no way to please everybody.
Guess this is the trend for 2K, grabbing high profile artists to curate.
