The issue, then, is that you let your imagination run wild and past what the intentions of the game are. Murray has stated many times that NMS is "mot that kind of game". He's stated over and over that it is a a survival fame with exploration as the key. He's demoed the game...several times. You would think, at least I would, that IF there were boss battles and intergalactic alien battles, that he would have highlighted that...right? That would have damn near secured a milli...

confirmation bias at it's best (or worse...depending on how you look at it).

It's a risk v. reward industry and there certainly is a LOT of risk in VR. Plus, many studios were probably headlong into previous projects that have yet to be announced. So, to drop those in pursuit of the VR reward, is yet another risk. I think many are playing the wait and see approach to VR. They are waiting to see what kind of userbase will be present and how VR is received, as well as what the feasibility is of creating an experience that jibes with what their products represent. I ...

Nope. Controversy is never "needed". Is it warranted? Perhaps. But, the devs continue to try to make it coincidence. When, in actuality, it could actually fit very well with the story arc as an extension of current events translating into video games. (which was probably their intention before the "controversy") There might be some backlash but, I think, the majority of people could understand it's inclusion (if only as a reminder of the history of how the "diffe...

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, if you didn't have an idea about what this game was...you were either being willfully ignorant or trolling. Now, you WOULD have a claim for not understanding the intricacies of every mechanic and how it all works together. But, imo, this fits with the overriding theme of this game...which is survival and exploration. The idea of discovering HOW things work goes hand in hand with discovering them in the first place. There's a...

Agree totally.

They will also lead you to certain resources, given enough time. It's a pretty cool mechanic.

Well, there are other factors that might be playing into this. First, we know that there is a chance for bugs. Then, there could have been a server hiccup. (happens in ALL MP games once in awhile, especially in the beginning) In the end, apparently, the players DID end up meeting. (see reddit)
This was day one. While I know that games should work on day one, I also know that (from past experience) day one is often not the highest point for any online experience.

You mean different servers? Since there are no traditional lobbies, it's possible.

To their awkwardness, they are devs...not PR. Sean is said to be a shy guy. But, he's the head of the team. So, somebody has to talk. Just be glad that he wasn't defensive or derisive like some of the devs that host streams.

I figured they'd be due for a LONG vacation after all of the stress and trials that went on with this game. BBut, at the same time, they seem to love what they do.

Mine on Jan. 25 of last year. Time doesn't really heal the wounds (like people love to say) as much as give you better perspective on how to deal with the loss. I know the feeling all too well. Hell, it still feels pretty fresh at times.

@All below. Thanks for the kind words!

When I tried, after being IP banned due to the spam issue, it wouldn't go through. It kept saying something about a server issue. This continued until I talked to you and you fixed the issue. That's why my issue came via twitter.

How do we contact the site if we get accidentally banned? (the site contact doesn't work) Twitter? email? FB?

So should many, many others. (give free updates) I'm just glad that Hello Games didn't follow suit and try to peddle DLC for future upgrades.

He said, in the past, that he's open to it. But, only for offline play. We'll see what happens.

3596d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I've heard that they are open to mod support, but offline only. Also, there will be improvements to other things such as the option the alter the FOV, the framerate, and rendering times when first landing and traversing the planet. (the procedural generation is pushing the CPU during that time and there's some frame stutter on the PS4 version that might not be as pronounced with more powerful rigs)

Because it's a survival game at heart. This provides the incentive to stay alive. Some situations provide a risk-reward scenario and this element just makes it something to consider and not a forgone conclusion. Just because there is no MP, doesn't mean that they have to eliminate the challenge. Besides, the game is very forgiving in other aspects. There are no one shot kills or devastating falls that kill you straight out. Life support can be powered by very common resources (like ca...

"I understand that, but what do you do? I still don't get it!?!"/s 😄

The dev team wanted you to experience THEIR vision of the game first. (which is the feeling of being in vast, unexplored universe with unknown alien threats...and feeling lonely) They stated long ago that MP is not necessarily out of the question. But, first, the want you to see and feel their vision for the game.
