This is not about holding some stupid 20 year grudge because one despot of a country makes a unilateral decision to tell the US to leave. It is about humanity. Doing what's right for somebody OTHER than yourself. As a world superpower...that is your duty. Like it or not, you are bound by that title to support efforts such as getting a country that has been utterly uprooted in one day back on it's feet. This is the nature of an ever-changing global landscape.

You ALMOST made a completely unoffensive comment...that is until the "who the hell would want the Haitians" portion. I agreed with everything else though. Continued humanitarian support in the form of food, clothing, temporary shelters, protection, and personnel is what Haiti will need to at least get the basic infrastructure of the country back to a basic level. Then, it will be money...and lots of it!

However, the general stereotype (that still exists) of gamers is not a worldly, well-rounded, social individual. The general public still views video games as a child's hobby and gamers as the pathetic has-been living in his parent's basement playing WoW (like on South Park). This is all to say that gamers are expected to act according to that stereotype. We can't be informed about the world, politics, global warming, pop-culture, music, art with a passion for life AND gaming. We can't have s...

The modern form of warfare is destined to take place in city streets, alleys and such because in recent years we have simply been fighting back incursions of rebels. Thus, urban warfare pretty much plays out in the same type of scenario. Rolling heavy APC's and Humvee's through city streets with rebels taking pot shots as they cower in the nooks and crannies of the city...is the new and constant battlefield scenario. (well aside from random IED attacks along desert paths)

Raztad made an interesting comment. Although it might be skewed to fit "his" definition of generation...so too the gaming industry has skewed it's definition. I won't argue the merits of Wii belonging to this generation. It is competition regardless of whether it is truly "next gen" or not. Nintendo makes money for each Wii that is sold...therefore they are not as pushed to move as much software (which is opposite of Sony and Xbox).
@oobob...saying that 360 and PS3 ...

A fad is a practice or interest followed for a time with exaggerated zeal.
Not saying one thing or another...just providing the definition for argument's sake!!!

When the average consumer looks at Uncharted...it's hard to tell what to expect. I believe that if the first Uncharted game was marketed better (even despite the crushing blows that the PS3 was taking at the time), then Uncharted 2 wouldn't have had to try so hard to establish itself as a worthy purchase. As it stands, there are many consumers that STILL don't know how to classify what type of experience this game offers. Therefore, it is easier to go for the racing game, or sports, a shooter...

I don't quite understand the validity of an article that questions whether a franchise that has brought true simulation racing to home consoles is relevant. Because of the Wii? What does the casual market have to do with GT? It has NEVER, EVER gone after the casual market, or even the non-sim racing market. It is targeted toward the enthusiast tuning junky. There are millions of racing sim fanatics are waiting with bated breath for this one game to finally show itself, in full proper form, on...

bubs up on the passion dude! Really, I actually read the entire comment and it is difficult to argue your passion for the GT franchise. I also tend to agree with your premise.

I think people have a problem with your hesitation to purchase GT5 based on some issues that are "off the track". Sure, graphics are important, but in GT5 it is obvious that they can't be game BREAKERS! It would be like saying that you won't buy a flight combat game because the ground textures aren't up to par...knowing that 90% of the game takes place in the AIR! We will ALL have to wait to see if these issues from the EARLY GT Academy demo will be changed...but even if they aren't...

that is extremely difficult to translate into film. I have YET to see a fighting game make a decent translation to film. Anime...yes..film...not so much. The Mortal Kombat series was fun and laughable...but not great. Street Fighter was horrible early on and the newer one was a joke. I think that the problem is that often the stories for these games (and each character) are so disjointed that it is hard to tie them into one story. Therefore, they have to create some overriding narrative that ...

just delaying it until the summer...or maybe even next year. It really needs some serious work in terms of control. It's really sad too because the premise of the game is actually pretty cool. I love the homage to the Rocketeer. But in a game like this, control is EVERYTHING. The graphics were pretty standard fair...if not sub-standard. The gameplay premise seems fun enough. The execution of that gameplay is where everything just leaves the tracks! You would have thought that they would have ...

you inject common sense into a situation where it is usually NOT applied (N4G)! Props to you!

This generation seems to be about "dooming" anything that gets some attention. Post E3, the industry buzz was about the gaming revolution that Natal would provide. Now, it seems there is a backlash. The PS3 had a similar backlash at launch, due to some hubris by Sony. As you stated, I'm sure there will be a "doom and gloom" article for the Sony controller as well. <...

I heard, as well as somebody above, that DLC will be...wait for it...FREE (for pre-order and special edition customers)! So, no nickel and diming...just an extension of the vivid world of Heavy Rain.

might not have been such a huge issue if the system was marketed based on value. You have to admit that the PS3 was a bargain...even at the intro $600 price point. You had Blu-ray (unknown tech, but cost a hell of a lot more at the time), integrated bluetooth tech for controllers and mics (no multi-tap), integrated WiFi, HDD (no need for memory cards), HDMI, and multiple USB ports. Add up all of that on any other system...and you'd pay more than $600. Admittedly, you don't need all of that to...

The change in box art is a direct correlation to marketing in different regions of the world. There are certain cultural things that companies have to pay attention to...you know...the do's and do not's. Living in 4 different countries over the course of my life. I have seen some things that, to an American born person, seems really strange. However, there is NO PROBLEM in that country.
I actually believe that marketing in the US is lowered to the least common denominator simply becaus...

I can't wait either...that game is gonna be a beast. However, I don't think that the PS3 is the lead console of development for BF:BC2. PS3 net code has to be written separately for each online game. Unlike the Xbox 360...which has a dedicated net code through Live. So, the beta testing was just a way to make sure that the PS3 doesn't suffer the same multiplat hell that it usually does when the game is released. Nonetheless, I can't wait.

That would be pretty cool!!! Don't know HOW they could get that projector idea to be cheaper than $500, but as you said...if they did...it WOULD be a game changer for sure!!!
