But, that is what to expect from these guys. They are not out to tell some epic tale. They want to take you on a thrill ride. They want you to see some of the craziest set pieces and leave the theater talking about it. It's overblown, overdone, and perfect for action junkies! I can't say that it was GREAT, but how many purely action flicks are. It is what it is...and I like what it is.
I KNOW your pain. Job market pretty much sucks right now. So...gaming is my solace!!!*L* Good luck!!!
Man...those are hard to come by here. At least for the PS3 titles, there is often no midnight launch. They didn't even have one for Uncharted 2 here!?!? Oh well, no matter cuz mine is already coming from Amazon with a $10 gift code!!! Gotta love em!!!
But for some reason, I think that the media will completely decimate the game. Of course, it will be nit-picky and silly. In the end, it might not even get to the 80 mark on Metacritic. Not that I care in the least, because I played in 3 beta phases and enjoyed it from day one.
was NEVER going to impress in terms of pre-orders. People are fairly skeptical about exactly what kind of game they are getting. I expect it to pick up sales traction once the reviews start to pour in. I am not surprised that MAG has higher pre-order numbers than Uncharted for two reasons. One, Uncharted was a new IP coming out at a time when the install base of PS3 was lower. Two, there was a protracted beta for MAG. So, basically people were able to get a FULL understanding of whether they ...
the washed out graphics in reality?? and the jaggies???*LOL* Seriously, if GT5 truly looks like this...it will be a visual feast!!!
Fosters is Australian for beer!!!*LOL*
YOU don't make decisions on gaming!!! Uncharted 2 had some nagging little issues, but it is NOWHERE near a bad game. Not even CLOSE. The feature list alone would give most games this generation a run for it's money. Winback/Gears clone...no...it did use the cover mechanic, but how ELSE did it clone. That's like saying you have a clone of yourself that looks nothing like you...accept it has your eye color!!! It finally achieved what we have been wanting from Tomb Raider games for years...assim...
that video games caused this kids mental illness. More likely, the video games were his way of dealing with his mental illness. It is true. The video game probably enhanced his delusional and psychotic break. But, it probably was not the cause. It is obvious that he had an addiction. However, the addiction was probably caused by the mental pathology. Either way, this was pretty sad. Sad truth is there are probably millions of these "powder kegs" looming all around us. Mental illness...
I am more than SURE that they have some really exciting announcements coming up. We still have some major conventions where they will being going toe to toe with MS and Nintendo for announcements. GDC and E3 will probably be really exciting. Plus, there is a crap load of software that is being released between now and the Fall. I would bet that Sony doesn't want people to be conservative with there wallets either!*L*
So...then your opinion of MAG is based on your general dislike of multiplayer experiences. Therefore, why would anybody expect you to be excited by a multiplayer only online game!?!? I appreciate your opinion, but realize that not EVERYBODY shares your dislike for multiplayer and are excited for MAG...just as you are not. Different strokes for different folks...I guess!
and will eventually trade in MW2 as soon as I beat the single player campaign. Not that it is horrible, but I don't enjoy the online aspect as much as I did the first one.
They reset the stats after EVERY beta released. I was in the private beta from the beginning and I was able to rank up to level 40 with all three factions. I just wanted to try each one to see what the differences were. Each time a beta phase ended...I was reset.
Plus, it would be a really daunting task for someone to pick up the game on day one and have thousands of people ranked up at level 30 and above.
The old strategy pretty much served the end line of the shareholders...MONEY!!! Now, EA is trying to gain a reputation as a publisher/developer that actually creates NEW IP's. That is a great strategy...but there isn't instant gratification...which is what pleases the shareholders. I HOPE that EA sticks to it's guns and keeps getting new franchises. But, chances are that they will return to the money making strategies of old...gamers be damned!!!
for those that actually LIKE the game, not to kill them with DLC to get fresh music. Yeah, they did release a couple song packs. But, they could have kept this up for years before releasing another version. I'm sure they will try to do something to encourage consumers to make a purchase of the FULL pack...including yet another controller. That's just the way of the music game genre I guess.
It will change soon though. There is a HUGE generation of people that aren't scared of gaming as a hobby that will quickly replace this current generation of uninformed. Then...WE WILL RULE THE WORLD!!!*LOL*
I don't believe that people hate on it for being a direct copy. If that were the case, as someone pointed out, then Dante's Inferno would be in clear trouble. I believe that it is because it is just not up to par. It clearly doesn't look as good as it's "copy". It appears that it won't match the gameplay standards, although I will withhold my final judgment for when the game is actually released. All in all, it is completely average in a gaming season that has several above average ...
we get rid of PEOPLE...because we ALL know that people will become robbers and thieves! That should do it! Right!?!?! LOL @mfwahwah...that was pretty crazy!
with the point about making trophies pointless. In away, they already are...and so is the gamerscore. If you collect these as a symbol of gaming prowess, then the value of trophies should NOT be that you have this many trophies or this high or a score. It should be in the challenge that you had in doing said accomplishments to get the trophy. I never understood why people would rent, borrow, or buy the latest Barbie Super Teen Horse Adventure just to get a platinum. I guaranty you that it was...
was purely sensible and non-fanboyish to boot. I agree that there are games that are on the horizon for the 360 that might come close or even surpass what the PS3 has achieved. But, there are also games in the PS3 pipeline that are poised to do the very same. All in all, this whole "console war" just drives the devs to "one up" each other...which creates great, high-quality titles. Without competition, the industry would stagnate and devolve to the completely average!
