It's the same EVERY Sunday! A throng of HHG haters comes on and bashes HHG and most of them don't even bother to watch the vid to see if he is actually making some comments of substance. They just read the article title and blast away. It's a shame, because most of the time he at least has an interview that IS newsworthy! Sure, there is speculation on his part at times. But, don't IGN and gamespot do the same things in written form? They want him to divulge his sources. However, if he is trul...
Memory cards were an industry standard at the time of the PS2 launch. The multi-tap was in response to games that were becoming more and more focused on multiplayer activity (multiple controller ports were not built into the design of the PS2) The HDD and network adapter were offered as "extras" simply because the infrastructure for internet gaming was not truly established. (this was somewhat of a test for the viability of internet gaming on the PS2) Internet in homes was not anywh...
Maybe he is just saying that outsourcing isn't necessarily handling an issue yourself. Yeah, the issues are taken care of...but who really did the work??? I don't know...but that is what occurred to me before the thought of racism.
Dark Void has a compelling premise...but it is the execution that I am afraid of! I think I will wait for reviews for that one. Mod Nation Racers is pretty awesome. I have been building tracks since day one of the beta. I think that will shock some people and be as much of a critical hit as LBP. Bad Company 2 is the TRUTH! I had as much fun on the ONE map that they provided in the beta as I had with all of the maps in MW2! I am not downing MW2 by no means. Bad Company 2 just feels better too ...
I'm not sure that YOU understand what momentum really means for a console. It is NOT just about sales of software or hardware...it is about brand awareness, critical acclaim, notoriety for doing something innovative or new. You spoke about PS3 owners "point of view", yet your point of view is just as skewed. You asked what games will "do the PS3 any justice?" I would reply that each and every EXCLUSIVE will in fact provide yet another example of what the PS3 offers. If thi...
I feel you on that point of subjectivity. However, there is a BASELINE that we pretty much operate from. How else do journalists score a game (again subjective I know...but consistent as well) Point being, you might disagree and I might disagree...but if the other 99% of people agree that something is "better", "graphically impressive", or whatever adjective you would like to interject...then in essence there is some truth to that. I am not going to touch the actual subjec...
But, I think most are using UC2 as the shining example of what PS3 is capable of. Much like 360 owners will tout Gears and Halo. I would say that if you are still questioning whether or not to buy a PS3 after the year that it has had in gaming...then you just don't like the brand. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that might be the only reason (aside from lack of money to spend on a new gaming machine and library).
I think you nailed it. Flower is more of an innovative game that is relaxing and beautiful, but not really full of substance. No knock on the game, as I DO quite enjoy the relaxation that it provides. However,
Shadow Complex is more akin to an side-scrolling action shooter. Hard to compare them side by side, but I would guess that since Shadow Complex pays homage to old school Contra style gaming...that is what put it over the top.
and I ONLY played it on PS3!!! It was an excellent romp with 3 other friends online! Probably some of the most fun that I have had in co-op in a long time. I loved the random weapons and the anticipation of finding that perfect gun to compliment your arsenal! It was definitely underrated and I can't wait for another one.
Doesn't fiction suggest that you are taking liberties with story telling. Therefore, making things up as you go. As for "sloppy"??? There aren't many gaping holes in the story that take huge leaps of logic, or lack thereof, to follow! The author, and I use that very lightly, is reaching HARD!!!
Got my code from my Qore subscription yesterday. To answer your questions. First, the kart handling is a little touchy...so it takes a lap or two to get used to. After about 3 minutes, I was controlling pretty effortlessly. The intro was quite entertaining. It would be cool if there were commentary during actual races. The auto-populate feature is awesome. It seems to be random, yet specific to the type of track that you are making. You won't find snowy mountains trees being thrown on a deser...
Like the tank thing. I think that will be better balanced once the game releases. Although I would have to think that a real tank can stand a fair bit of punishment, I have seen them bombarded by rockets and still remain. The respawn issue is a bit less for me because that can be coordinated with good teamwork or patience. On the sniper issue, that is also a teamwork thing. I ALWAYS set the enemy targets. That way, if you have counter snipers they can see them on the map. What else do they ha...
WOW...that is such a thorough analysis of a game. Play it for an hour...oh yeah...it's trash. I just played the game last night for the first time. It will take the first hour just to get used to the ebb and flow of the game. Let alone to get a good grasp for what the map looks like as a whole. Plus, you didn't get a chance to explore what the weapons can do once they are leveled up and attachments are added. No...it is NOT MW2. There are things that take getting used to...like real gravity o...
It's just the fact that the map in the beta is a bit smaller...although it is still HUGE...and doesn't have room for choppers on top of everything else. It would be a bit of a balance issue to add them to what is going on.
but as AI advances and devs create more real-life situations...there is going to be a lot of controversy. However, these are the growing pains of a "new" avenue of entertainment. It happened with music and movies, so it was bound to happen to gaming (because of it's immense popularity). The only thing to do is to educate the masses on gaming culture and continue to push the boundaries (not necessarily like what was mentioned in the article)so that REAL dialogue can be had. On anothe...
Probably one of the best comments that I have seen regarding race in these types of articles!!! +BUBS
I just played for the first time tonight!!! Spent 5 hours and had to rip myself away to eat!!! Loving it!!!
Umm...actually I enjoyed KZ 1 when it first came out...as an untried and unheard of franchise. The AI was actually impressive for games of that time (with flanking, taking cover, and even cover fire). Graphics were great (again for that time). Story was pretty cool, one of the most intense beginnings with the speech that set the tone for all of the bloodshed to come. It had NOTHING to do with wanting it to beat Halo, because I don't own stock in anything (so I make NO MONEY from that). For me...
I have been pleading that very same sentiment since seeing his first show. Everybody has to start from somewhere...right? Maybe if we gave constructive criticism instead of hate...the show might improve and be great. I know that might sound like a stretch, but I am all for trying to help anybody that is trying, with passion, to reach a dream.
That was exactly what I had in mind. It is EASY to create dialog for a cut scene that is just a progression of the storyline. However, when you take several choices of dialog and try to make them flow naturally it can become somewhat disjointed and stilted. This is NOT a knock on the game, this is the very nature of games that have these types of choices in dialog. ME, KOTOR, IP, and I suspect Alpha Protocol (if it ever sees the light of day) have this same issue.
Plus, it is not JUST ...
