So, have you missed the 9, 4/5, 8.5, 7.9, etc? Or do those not count?
Reviews are opinions. This game is going to be divided into the crowd that understands the game, and those that were looking for more. Those that felt it was too expensive, and those that find all of the value. I expect more low scores and I expect more high scores. It's just a love or leave kind of experience.
If you didn't know what you were getting, then you weren't paying attention. Hello Games has been very consistent on their message about the game. They released videos where Sean essentially said "this is what you do". They released the 4 pillars videos...again highlighting what you do. At what point can you blame anybody else for expecting something else? If there was more, don't you think they would have teased it to build more hype? The fans of this game knew what the...
First I agree that it shouldn't get a pass. But, at least it should be judged on what it is and not the expectations expectstionsof what someone one wanted it to be. Second, reviews are opinions and thus people will agree or disagree with them. So, "spot on" for you might not be "spot on" for everybody. Third, the tons of media exposure came because people got excited from the reveal. I don't recall any of the games that you mentioned being showcased at a huge trad...
While I wouldn't call it a tech demo or unfinished, I do see this as a beginning. Quite simply, the devs had a vision for a game that kept evolving and moving. They had to get it out. So, we get what they decided to put out in a given timeframe. Now, the good thing is that they didn't scrap some of their other ideas. Which can appear in updates.
This game was not supposed to be some mass market hit...until it got the attention that a mass market hit would get. (that E3 revea...
Yep. The problem is that Goodell didn't give a damn about the quality of the game. He saw dollar signs. Then, colluded to make sure that the supposed auction of the license was priced outside of 2K's means at the time. (there's an entire email chain detailing this) Sony (I believe) only secured a 1st party license. So, a third party can still make an MLB licensed game.
Put simply, it seems to me that EA have mastered the idea of presenting a product with all the bells an...
Here's the thing with the "multiplayer" issue. The servers were completely slammed. They didn't expect so much attention from their humble game. So, of course at launch, there were issues. (servers dropping people offline) Also, you have to understand that everybody will not load into the same INSTANCE of the universe. (think about any mmo where several different copies of the same world exist due to player counts). There are no traditional lobbies to ensure that players wil...
There will be. 18 quintillion possible planets. Plus, each one actually has species that are "unique" to it. (both plant and animal) Needless to say, you won't have a problem finding new stuff.
Me too...payday!!! 😄
I wasn't sure where this was going, but I get it now. IMO, Hello Games has prioritized the importance of freedom of choice and of the pillars of the game. That's it. Providing the center, imo, is the "dangling carrot" for those that MUST have a reason to explore. Plus, as a functional representation of a universe which parallels ours, I am assuming that it started fundamentally like ours. Meaning it started from a massively dense point and, after an explosion, expanded outwa...
Hmmm. I thought I was the only one. I used to dive into competitive MP and actually spend time and energy to get really good. Then, as I got older, I realized that I was kinda like a hamster on a wheel. Doing the same thing over and over (and getting better), but for what? It wasn't always fun. There was really no goal. (aside from game to game victory)
Honestly, it was that realization that just made me chill out and focus on having fun. So, I turned to more co-op with my friend...
😅
Wow. EA is really going full Madden on these licenses. They are really trying to lock Konami out of any license. Won't matter to me, because gameplay is king. If it doesn't cut it, there's always PES and the kit options.
For all of this to be procedural, the game DOES offer up some beautiful landscapes from time to time. Sometimes, though, it's just downright strange....which I like.
That was the result of server overload..but people ran with it like the devs lied.
I don't think the problem is opposing views. The issue is that there seems to be people on some sort of negativity crusade. They basically pick a game apart that they have "no interest" in.
It's all fine for people to have opinions. It's fine to express said opinions. But, if you have to show up every time someone says something about the game to express your negativity, then it seems like you are just being bothersome. (none of this directed at you, by the way...
The servers have been "stressed" due to unexpected loads. It's been fluctuating back and forth.
If you're not sold now, you probably never will be. If it's a price issue, the I'd suggest waiting until it meets your pricing expectations. It's really an intriguing game. Not the "best ever" and certainly not as horrible as some of the low reviews (which seem mostly to judge it based on expectations that the game really had no intention of meeting) If you like games like Don't Starve (survival/exploration), Subnautica (similar idea, but underwater), Minecraft (...
Kind of how it is. Except that they attempt to take the environment and planetary atmosphere into consideration as the animals generate. (especially the color palette) It's actually pretty interesting to see.
So much THIS!!! Sean has gone on the record many, many times explaining that it is essentially a survival/exploration game. Any other expectations, like it being an involved RPG or boss battles, etc, are just unwarranted and products of the projection of expectations that shouldn't have existed in the first place. (if you stayed informed about the game)
Edit: @Cobra951... In the end, the grind (if you call it that) is the need for certain resources and craft recipes. Yo...
No...not obvious at all. It was 2 players, on the first night of the release of a game that got more attention than expected. So, there were server hiccups. That's not a trend. That's singular time where it didn't happen. (that's like saying a CoD game lied because people couldn't connect to a lobby on the first night it ships) Now, if people didn't fly off the hook and go looking for lies, they would understand how games handle millions of players. When a game has hug...
