Truth. The suits need to understand that it's the creative forces that actually run things. At the same time, these creative forces need to truly understand their power and importance. Just like most industries, the money men eventually start to destroy the product (and anything around it) in their quest for money. I foresee that many of these major studios will start to feel the self imposed crunch until they dilute their talent and the product. Some already are. The falsely inflated pro...
I did that with my nephew and Heavy Rain. He's traditionally a sports only, casual gamer. But, when I put in Heavy Rain, he got hooked. I put it in at like 10 pm. I fell asleep on the couch. Woke up at like 3:30 am and he was still playing and telling me parts of the story that I hadn't experienced. Now, he actually buys more than just sports games.
😂
I think that what you are missing is the target audience for the Pro. It's not meant to be a mass market juggernaut. It's aimed at US...the forum commenting, article reading core who want the newest, most advanced hardware that Sony can offer. So, whether it be checkerboard or native, if you want Sony...you are going to get a Pro or at very least keep your PS4. Looking at their projections, they don't expect more than 2 million Pro sales by the end of their fiscal year. (I'd b...
Annie is an example of 2 fictional characters, who have been traditionally portrayed as white, being turned black. However, the difference is that they could literally be played as anybody. Race wasn't a key part of their character. But, some might consider this as black-washing, I guess. I'll give you an excellent example of white-washing for comparison...the movie Gods of Egypt. Every Egyptian god and goddess was portrayed by white people. I'm not offended, necessarily. But, it ...
I agree that the campaign should show historical accuracy (to the point that the devs want), and it does. The Harlem Fighters narrative is a short side-note. Besides that, the entire narrative is a fiction set in history. There are many things that occur that are historically inaccurate and some almost impossible. Yet, the complaint is about the color of avatars in MP.
it's still galling to be upset about the multiplayer aspect. There are a crap ton more inaccuracies in that than...
Okay, first and foremost, black-washing is not a thing. I know it's supposed to be the opposite of white-washing. But, it still doesn't exist. I can't think of anything that has been traditionally racially white being completely turned black. (which would be the idea behind black-washing) Whereas, movies have been doing this since they existed. Music has had a ton of it.
Secondly, if the mere idea of having to play with a black avatar in a video game upset your...
About as stupid as forced exclusion.
@DragonKnight...forced exclusion is absolutely a "thing". While I agree that not including a certain race or gender in a game isn't an example, there are stories of publishers that were indeed forced to change the race or even gender of a protagonist because the publisher claimed the game wouldn't sell.
This might go down as one of the most ignorant statements I've ever seen. The NFL has been notoriously tough on black QB's...to the point where many have been forced to switch positions just to continue playing the game. Whereas, their white counterparts keep getting opportunity after opportunity. Plus, what good does it do the team. No NFL team is starting a black QB for "forced diversity". They are starting them because they think they need to. As much as you might not lik...
Not at all. VR is just a different way to experience video games.
It might hurt in the short run. There's likely to be some confusion for the mass market this holiday. But, in the long game, the options will always be there. As long as they realized this in their financial outlook (didn't over-project), it shouldn't be a problem. Plus, they are catering to different needs. Really, they are supporting two pieces of hardware: PS4 (which includes the Pro) and PSVR. Both provide different services and one needs the other. I can't see that as to...
QD is notorious for releasing content before the game, that might or might not actually deal with the game as a tech demo (like the Kara vid). Then, they usually create a vertical slice segment of the actual game (which is like what was shown at E3) to give an idea of how the tech works in the game. Going by their past, what you saw at E3 should be at least a part of the game to come.
Even with ratings down, down for the NFL is still quite a large sum. They are down about 12% and still averaging over 18 million views across all networks...except for those dreadful Thu. night games. Marketing puts a decent ads to sales ratio as 5:1. So, if only about 3.5 million people out of the 18 million decide to purchase, the money was well spent. Now, thinking about the coffers at Rockstar, this is a drop in the hat for what they are prepared to spend. So, that ratio is likely to chan...
Firstly, I don't completely agree with what you are saying. I agree that there is a complete dearth of compelling and diverse African American characters in videogames. (and TV and movies) However, I don't necessarily think that Ubi is using Marcus to "coon". He's really not the typical trope. (though his back story hints at some of it) He's more of a stereotypical millennial than a stereotypical African American.
Where I somewhat agree is that marketing ha...
I don't think the actor was trying to paint all black people with a broad brush. He's just excited to bring one, lesser realized aspect of the black experience to a game. Simply put, he's saying that there are black hacktivists and techies and Marcus is one. I think people are being a bit harsh on an actor giving some side comments.
You didn't know!?😀
I get you. The idea of having to drop $400 for the new benefits sucks. But, it IS a $100 difference. It's just that, if you already purchased a PS4, you've got to reinvest in order to get those benefits.
This is why the mid-gen idea is a bit controversial for some who already have a PS4.
This is exactly the point of the mid-gen upgrade. It's an inexpensive, stop-gap solution for 4K. As for millennials (assuming they are mass market gamers), they will go with what their friends go with and what is popular. Also, it will really depend on price. If MS comes in way too high, it won't matter for many that they can render 4K natively...especially if they stick to the no exclusives for Scorpio idea. Either way, it's gonna be interesting to see.
True. GTA V was good. But, after spending time i. the world, you pretty much had done everything to death. I think the casino would have helped. Either way, they just need more ways to interact with the world. I'd like to see some hunting bounties...like hunting rare, exotic animals for cash. It would be cool to just go fishing...for the hell of it. (Maybe have leaderboards for largest catches.) Definitely would like to personalize my horse. They gotta keep the side games like the gamblin...
Big companies sell crappy, bug filled, over-hyped, under delivering games often. (and at full price) Yet, people don't go this crazy. Hello Games sold it at $60 because they thought that they could and felt that the value proposition was worth it. Before all of the controversy, they were getting away with it. That's how the market works. If there is demand, you can hike the price. Now that there is a backlash, they can't sell it at that point and think that they will profit.
