It resulted in the same thing that Ico and SotC did...good industry reception...better reception from fans of Team Ico...confusion as to what makes it so good from those that don't quite get what makes these games special.

You might "enjoy all games". But, you clearly have an agenda when commenting. I don't see this in depth and profound criticism of anything Xbox on your part. However, when it comes to PS, there's a constant stream of concerned exposition of the many issues you have with it's games and hardware. While you sometimes actually have valid points (not unlike your point about people taking criticism), it's hard for many to accept them because of the frequency with which you...

From my time with the Beta, it's more like SKATE than SSX. It's not trying to be over-the-top. Actually, it seems they are going for that backcountry feel. You have a big, open mountain to explore. You can find places to just create your own lines. The ability to change sports on the fly is pretty unique. Add to that, you can create challenges of some of your favorite spots. I spent the entire Beta alone and didn't have any problems. I can see how adding friends would probably inc...

VR is in it's infancy. There was a time where people didn't think grown people would be interested in playing games on a TV. A LOT of people. There was a time where people laughed at the idea of every person owning a cell phone. Now, hardly anybody keeps a landline phone in their homes. It takes a while for tech to become mainstream. Part of it is trend. But, the bigger part is accessibility and affordability. As those things get addressed, VR will have better potential. There's a...

True. I'd say that if you enjoyed the game, you'd have to enjoy the series. The game is like playing a South Park movie or, at very least, several episodes of the series.

This! Often we get lost in the "good" side of war stories and we miss the stories from the other side. Most often, the people on the other side aren't too different from those on the "good" side. They aren't any more evil. They are just motivated by a different ideology. I'd like to see how the Helghast came to power. How do the Helghast soldiers see themselves? That would make Killzone very interesting, as far as storylines go.

I agree. For it's time, there was nothing really quite like it. Especially on the 360. I swapped systems with my friend frequently last gen. and was able to play a ton of 360 games. I didn't enjoy playing Halo (I know... blasphemy!!!), but the lore and the story were awesome. I had fun with Alan Wake ans enjoyed the story, though the light mechanics became a bit tedious. I wanted a bit more expansion of that mechanic. I absolutely envied Mass Effect. Couldn't wait for that to go m...

A few shares of a company doesn't mean much. However, controlling interest means the board now belongs to you in terms of proposing decisions for the future.

A company (Vivendi) buying up shares of a company to gain controlling interest against the will or desire of the target company (Ubi) is considered a hostile takeover. It's often done to gain access to new business avenues, to improve/expand the existing avenues, or to reduce competition in similar markets. In this case, I'm assuming that Vivendi wants more share of that big gaming cash. If Ubi is considered a weak target, it's easier to just take them than to continue to trod alo...

Despite your down votes, I actually agree with most of what you said. Ico, SotC, and TLG are quite different from the usual. To fully enjoy them it takes a fair bit of empathy and, quite frankly, a bit of emotional maturity. They aren't just about the mechanics. These games don't always resonate with everybody.
My fear was that the dev time would be weighed against the ultimate payoff. (which some of the lower reviews have alluded to) That the reviewers wouldn't just se...

This is the unfortunate (and some might say unfair) position that indie devs find themselves in. They can be obliterated by one bad title. EA, Ubi, Activision, Gearbox, etc. have had missteps and failures on the same level and it's a blip on the radar. An indie has one, and it could literally be the end of the studio.
IMO, HG deserved a bit of the criticism. It's obvious that some things went wrong. But, that's all happened before. "Lies", bullshots, renders, d...

The whole game is about different things to different people. Resource gathering was a pain in the ass to some. The freighters and bases help with that, especially the rare resources. The "story" wasn't really the point of the game. It was the impetus to move forward. Ultimately, the game was meant to be about exploration of a vast universe...to boldly go where no man has gone before. The issue was that, for many, it became too redundant to warrant more exploration either becaus...

You forgot the "in my opinion"...or maybe you think you speak for everyone. What you describe as a "monotonous mess" was actually fun for others. What you saw as "boring", people found things that they enjoyed.
The game was meant to be evolving over time. HG said, many times, that the community would drive where the game goes. They don't need EA or Activision. They need time to work out where they want to take the game and how best to go about it.

But, you miss the reason that some of these "bells" were missing. They were tied to the release of the movie. Now, the DLC strategy of releasing individual characters was dubious at best and the deviation from the tried and true formula might have rubbed the core fans the wrong way. But, it was known (by most) that this Battlefront was a movie tie-in and a DICE reboot. What they had worked...and worked pretty well. If they can use the time to capitalize on the best parts of the game...

This is just silly. Sony, in fact, is in no position to not "care about sales". They don't have an endless chest of money to throw away just to bolster their slogans. They are doing well again, but not well enough to frivolously waste money.
How often have people judged a launch of a console and doomed the console? Not many. Now, couple this with the fact that VR is virtually uncharted territory (at least in this advanced form). What you have is Sony setting themselves ...

True. How are you not "fully invested" in the tech when you are pioneering the tech on consoles?
Honestly, even the statement about "pushing new hardware" is just as ridiculous. Both PSVR and PS4Pro have had quiet launches. In the end, the analyst simply overestimated. They didn't take supply into account, nor Sony actually saying they expected the launch to be "hundreds of thousands" and not millions.

Agreed. Sony as much as admitted that they were going to be cautiously optimistic about projections for both the PSVR and the Pro. I'd be willing to bet that they are pleased with the sales figures so far. They are outpacing the "competition" with the "weaker" solution. They know that uptake for something like PSVR is going to take time. Not only for the consumer, but for the devs to be convinced and come up with fresh ways to explore virtually uncharted territory. The...

Possibly. Or, it's a bit deeper than it appears. The term "stranding" is used by marine biologists to describe the behavior of dolphins and whales beaching themselves for unknown reasons. From that brief glimpse, it seems like Kojima might be at least referencing this type of stranding. He's known for his cryptic nature. Then again, perhaps it's that lost in translation thing that sometimes happens between Japanese and the West...where something that is a bit more profou...

Did you miss the part where the ASA actually played the game and tested some of these things? What about the third party submissions that Hello Games used to prove some of this?
As far as Hello Games "pathetic" manner of defense, when someone attacks you for something that you don't feel you did (or, at very least, is not outside of the scope of industry norms), you defend yourself.
Trailers have ALWAYS been highlights. They are the best parts of games present...

If you haven't played Warframe, you have about 6 mos. to a years worth of content. No lie. The game is that vast. Plus, content updates happen about every 3 mos. or so. On the surface, it's a simple game. But, there is a complexity to it. Creating "builds" for guns, weapons, and frames for situational content helps keep the game fresh. They've improved every aspect of the game since launch and continue to add and tweak the experience. Plus, with patience, you honestly do...
