The same reason that they do in slasher films, it adds tension to chases and cheaply allows the slasher to stay in the hunt. You ever notice the slasher never run? It's a nod to a horror movie trope.
I think Unreal01's issues are not with just power. It's power PLUS where that power will be applied. No doubting that XboxX isn't more powerful, but is the difference worth the sacrifice in terms of of the library of games...where Sony clearly trumps MS in volume and variety of 1st party output. The OG Xbox was clearly superior to the PS2. But, the PS2 had such a foothold on the indusrty when the Xbox fame out that it didn't matter. Here we are in a similar scenario. But, this...
I said it before. It's like watching Usain Bolt at the Olympics. He was a world beater when he won while breaking records. However, for some people, he just didn't live up to the hype when he just beat the field by 10m. (forgetting that the field is indeed full of world class athletes)
It's a silly, pedantic argument that boils down to getting a chance to take shots at something, someone that is achieving at a high level.
Patience is a virtue. Apparently one that some no longer have.
@moldy..."...you guys will spin it either way."
As will you!
You have, in the past, given Sony flack for the exact plan that you laid out for them THIS year's E3. Which, imo, proves that you pretty much just want to complain about Sony. (which is your prerogative, but don't expect to be taken seriously)
Add to this you nitpick 2 games, neither of which is a 1st party game, to highlight how Sony announces too early. Too early for who? Maybe some pe...
Exactly! When Steve Jobs pitched the early ideas for the iPhone, the industry didn't get it. There were a ton of doubters and lots of "Why?" and "How?". Yet, here we are in an age where they have basically indispensable.
When you have a complex idea, it can be difficult to explain. But, most people donlt give a damn about the idea. They want proof of concept...an actual product. So, it's find to be esoteric at this point as long as Kojima directs his team ...
The thing is, you are looking at the evolution of an much older style of game...the point and click adventure. Think of games like Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion and this is a branch of that style of game.
Cage has constantly worked on changing and improving his formula. Each of his games has tried to increase the level of interactivity. Besides, there aren't a ton of devs that take on this genre. So, naturally, evolution of the genre will be slower than something like FPS'...
And guess what, when MS was leading last gen what did they "give"? This is what happens with competition. Companies will try to enrich their platform by value added propositions. MS needs to do this. because they aren't leading. Sony doesn't need to because they are. At the end of the day, these are strategic decisions and don't "hold back" anything. Each company is charting their path in their own way.
It's funny because the market will take care ...
😂👍
IMO, Sony is using PSX as another choice for when to show games. When E3 was at it's peak, there was no other place to garner the same type of hype and attention. Companies would be in scramble mode trying to get something....anything...on the stage. That might likely be the last chance to get that type of attention for a year.
Now, with so much coverage of the other conferences, they have more flexibility. Their devs don't have to rush. They don't even have to travel too...
Here's the rub, though. The engine for Driveclub was purposely tweeked to the hybrid racer style. It was running crazy amounts of physics (each rain drop actually has it's own "true" physics), reflections and lighting were all real time and applied to every surface, surface and tire physics, etc. It could have been a racing sim. But, the devs chose a different route. It's a fair comparison and it's cool if Driveclub outshines Forza in this one particular aspect.
They are not mistakes...they just aren't for YOU! These consoles aren't meant to be platforms of their own. They are meant to ADD functionality to the original platforms. In the past companies used "slim" models to continue momentum in the middle of a gen. Now, they've added "slim" models AND an upgrade option.
The assumption that we won't see consoles before 2019 is a bit silly. There wasn't a ton of money wasted in R&D for these mid-gen c...
Nailed it. It was a safe and moderate conference. Previously, it felt like they had to blow the roof off. Now, it's about continuation of momentum.
Personally, I don't mind reveals 2-3 years out. At very least, it shows commitment to games. I'd rather get a glimpse at what devs are doing and working on early, than to wonder. This Sucker Punch new IP wait is killing me.
THIS is why companies can't just listen to the noise. Sony gets knocked for showing games 2 years early. Now, flack for showing games coming and NOT showing games years out. Just let Sony be Sony and be happy that you KNOW that they will deliver games.
Personally, I think Sony was doing 2 things. One is that they were saving some surprises for their own conference which is focused more on their core players. Two is that they were allowing those devs with new IP time to get their...
Very true. It's a game that you have to PLAY. Watching vids and other people just doesn't convey enough of the Yakuza experience. The combat looks clunky, the tasks look menial, etc. But, somehow once you play, it hooks you. It's severely underrated.
Exactly! I think fanboys on both sides have kinda lost perspective on what these mid-gen upgrades are trying to do. They are stop-gap bridges to the next wave. The PS4 and Xbox One were both released with moderate hardware to be safe and affordable. Because of that, they weren't going to improve too much over the course of 5-6 years. So, both Sony and MS bunped up the power and added 4K to please the core gamers that focus on those things. However, this core is only about 20-30% of the to...
😂Munson!!!🤣
I would almost bet on new creatures. Imo, that's kinda the root of this game...dispatching different types of enemies in various ways. But, new weapons would be icing on the cake.
This is the type of DLC that I don't mind. I generally HATE all micros (skins, boosters, gun packs, etc.) But, expansion content (when significant) I can get behind. That being said, the last expansion that I purchased was the Enter the Dragon-esque island expansion in the game Sleeping Dogs. It was just too much to resist the nostalgia of playing a Bruce Lee-like story with the grainy film filters. I wasn't disappointed in the least. All said, though, price and length will play a rol...
@Detective
He's not black. He WAS voiced by T.C. Carson who is black (of Living Single fame). What we are probably seeing is the typical olive skin prevalent in the Mediterranean combined with a tan. (see the tans of the movie 300) Now that the story has moved to Norse territory, he is mich more pale. Which makes sense because they've moved farther away from the equator...where the people tend to be olive to brown skinned.
