actually sales do matter. they do dictate which publisher wants to release an exclusive on which console, or which console will have to fight harder and be more innovative to survive.
Actually, if you want to look at the big picture, you have to look at where 360 was when PS3 launched. 5,164,808 consoles. I'd hardly call growing the install base by 2 million consoles ahead of the PS3 since it launched "killing the PS3". It gained 2 million, and now is fast on track to lose that 2 million. In the 4 weeks after slim launched, for instance, PS3 closed that gap by almost a million units. Now all PS3 has to do is continue to outsell 360 on a weekly basis, and it will ...
obviously you cannot read, so let me help you. the headline reads PS3 On track to outsell 360 worldwide in TWO THOUSAND NINE.
BTW... that 8 million console lead... sony just erased 1 million of it last month alone.
Get it now? Nothing delusional there.
Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, MAG, The Agency, DC Universe Online, AGENT, The last guardian, Resistance 3, Killzone 3, just to name a few. 360 better step it's game up.
I'll give you that much, as of last check it was outselling it by 20k in the US. This is before the holiday spike, and before the 250gb launches as well, so time will have to tell on that one.
leeger, you totally missed the point of the article. PS3 is on track to outsell 360 WORLDWIDE for 2009. It has already done so in europe and japan, and is well within reach of doing so for the US as well by the end of the year. read the article closer next time.
it isn't even that much... 500k units, 9 weeks left in the year. That's about 55,555 units per week that the PS3 needs to outsell 360 to beat it this year. It currently is outselling it by about 70-120,000 units a week.
um.. no. you're still wrong. US is part of the world. If it isn't outselling in the US, it isn't outselling worldwide. duh.
(the article isn't talking about cumulative 2009 sales worldwide, but outselling in all of the 3 major territories)
no, it didn't. did you even read the article? it has in europe and japan, but not the us. duh.
360 is 7 million units ahead worldwide, not just the US.
and PS3 is closing in very fast... it closed the gap by 3/4 of a million units last month alone.
wow, what bull**** PR work there.
So I guess that the 750 cars that Gran Turismo 5 has over Forza 3's first disc are just extra content also? And not part of the actual gameplay experience?
After looking at the numbers, the PS3's price cut has helped it achieve a 1,476,192 unit increase in 5 weeks, with an average of 295,238 console per week, up from an average of 81,517 from the previous 5 weeks for a average total of a 213,721 unit per week growth.
Xbox 360 on the other hand, after recieving a similar price cut at the same time, sold 750,732 units over the same 5 week period, for an average increase of 150,416 units sold per week. This is up from the average of 10...
SALES did not increase by that much at all, not even only on amazon. This article is a lie. The only thing that happened was, 360's winter bundle launched yesterday, started at the bottom of the MOVERS AND SHAKERS LIST (not sales), and moved up over 3k positions to number 2 (where it was still beat by some 99 cent cake game). A popular gaming console is expected to do such a thing the day after it releases a new SKU. The headline is very misleading. This article should be reported as fake.
This article is an outright lie. SALES did not increase by that much. It moved up Amazon's movers and shakers by that much, and only because it just launched yesterday (you have to start at the bottom of the list first and work your way up... duh!). The headline is misleading. Reported as fake. I suggest you all do the same so we can get this garbage off N4G.
agreed, the reviewers so far have said things like "the multiplayer is good enough to be put on it's own disc and sold at full price", so I beg to differ. From what I've played of it, it's pretty damn good.
the same could be said about it getting any lower, for all you know it's meta score could rise as the reviews keep coming in.
Some things to keep in mind...
It only needs to move up 1 point on metacritic to tie the #1 of all time spot. It only needs to move up 2 points to break the record.
obviously you've never played it. Tomb Raider only wishes it could be Uncharted. It got beat at it's own game.
Not according to metacritic.

i'm not making money on good ps3 sales, but i am getting a hell of a lot of good games and features.
