no, it's in-engine. in game means you're actually in control of what is going on. this was a cutscene, which was in-engine.

problem is, throwing in those effects taxes the hardware more, so that begs the question... will the game still look that good when you're actually playing it with all that action going on at once? considering halo odst still didn't manage to hit a HD resolution, bungie has a lot of convincing to do before i'll buy into that.

The visuals aren't exactly stunning in this day and age. Modern Warfare 2, Spec ops, the new Splinter Cell, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, all of these games outperform what is seen in the trailer. That said, it is an improvement over the halo 3 engine, which is welcome.

however, they should have shown at least a bit of the action. all they showed was big distant explosions... just like the last teaser. another teaser that shows nothing more than the last teaser is a big no-no in my b...

judging by the cord I've seen in pictures of the headset, I don't think it's length will be an issue.

The contest begins tomorrow (december 5). each site will post a blurred pic of a game, and you must guess it in order to win. 2 headsets per site will be given away.

well, it's a pretty small inconvenience for a chance to win a $80 headset.

i like the features that adjust game and voice volume so you always hear your team. that can come in handy.

um... at this point last year, ps3 enjoyed it's biggest sales week of the year on black friday week. same as with the year before... and this year as well. in fact, i'm willing to bet every console ever released in north america has enjoyed it's biggest sales week of the year (at this point in the year) on black friday week.

It's not really saying anything when a popular sales season comes along and you say "sales are up more than any other time this year!".

Dustin from PSInsider here... for the record, I apparently goofed when writing the rumor and said it was about porting firefox, when our source was quick to jump down my throat about having misused his/her words.

The original message the rumor was based on simply said reps from sony and mozilla had been meeting with each other, but said nothing about firefox (they could have simply been discussing ways to improve the ps3's current browser). I made the mistake of assuming it was i...

so many people forget the ps3 has a browser that can use facebook... and that the xmb integration is something totally separate (which is why the feature is tucked away, they want most of us using facebook on the browser).

our site leaked this months ago... though the time we said it would happen was off.

well, technically the VRAM is not available to the OS to use, as it has a dreadfully slow access time (slower than the hard drive itself)when the CPU tries to access it (it's lightning fast for the GPU when it accesses it though). The PS3 was designed to have the GPU access the CPU's RAM, but not the other way around because it's rare that the CPU ever needs the GPU's RAM in gaming situations. So, 256mb's is all the browser uses (which is why you cannot open more than a few windows at the sam...

that's good to hear. I haven't had much time with my ps3 lately so I haven't been keeping up on the updates (damn week long music festivals!)

the issues with the current browser is that it's flash support is very dodgy, many sites don't work properly with it (I haven't tried since the new fw update though) such as facebook (a lot of buttons don't work properly) or yahoo mail (i wasn't even able to reply to an e-mail with it, the reply button didn't work).

there's a lot of room for improvement.

this comes from a source I trust very much... they helped us with other rumors in the past, like pinpointing the exact date we'd hear about firmware 3.0, the price cut, the slim, and more.

So far this person has been on point with their rumors.

I use my ps3 browser all the time, when I don't feel like booting up the PC, waiting for windows to load up, waiting for my wifi drivers to load up and connect, and then waiting for firefox to open up and display my homepage. I'd much rather be able to do all that much faster from the comfort of my living room.

Plus, having a built in browser makes searching for game tips easy... I don't even have to leave my PS3 to find out how to beat that level!

I agree with you, but in this case, ANY improvement is a welcome one.

i would imagine some plug-ins would work with it, though I doubt we'd get ad block pro or any of that stuff.

And firefox is much more well known than chrome, so it would have a bigger impact to say ps3 has firefox than to say it has chrome.
