the article even acknowledges that... they just got confirmation from sony on it and therefore wrote a new article with the quote.

There's a reason why those cameras were not allowed in. I've seen natal in person as well at e3... it lags, glitches, and if they had let the cameras in to see that yes, all these months later it still does that (as the guy himself says right before he goes off into his natal hype about how fun it was to moonwalk in a game), some of us would have lost some faith.

There are some surprises in store that many of you may not have considered. Full body camera tracking with the pseye, while not as accurate as natal, when combined with the controller will provide a much greater level of accuracy than you might expect. Having played a few games on the eye already, I am already impressed.

Also... we have 3d. imagine standing in front of your screen, looking into it at the pitcher standing off in the distance. you watch the ball fly off your scre...

The PS3 has been outselling 360 for some time now. that is why 360's 1 year head start has not even been able to be maintained by microsoft. ps3 came out of the gate slow, so slow that it even allowed the gap to hit 8 million at one point, but then it sprinted off so fast that it has closed the gap back farther than it was at launch, and is now chipping away at that 1 year head start microsoft had before ps3 launched. it has been outselling xbox 360 worldwide by at least 100k units per week f...

One of our sources just told us that "the cover art is fake (i assume they mean the one seen on the playstation lifestyle article), but the release date is definitely possible."

to any of you who may think psinsider is full of crap... note the date this was written and the timeframe mentioned in the article.

called it near perfectly almost a year ago. we've gotten a couple rumors wrong in the past by misquoting or when plans simply changed, but our sources are legit.

if this were a ps3 game, and it only had a dvd drive, where 360 had the bd drive, the tone of this thread would be drastically different.

as for swapping, if it's a linear game, it's ok. but rpg's where you have to go back to an old part of the game to do certain things, no go.

you can bash not wanting to get up to change discs all you want, but you can't deny that it limits the way developers can make their games. open world games that span more than one disc have t...

Yeah, unfortunately our one eyed friends won't be able to join in on this one, for now. A good friend of mine only has one eye, we've talked about 3D a few times. It sucks, and hopefully technical advancements in the future will fix that (we already do have artificial eyes, but the resolution on them is beyond low - as in a series of flickering dots outlining certain shapes the camera sees - and there is no color).

had you actually read the article, you'd know that avatar, invincible tiger, and every other 3d game on 360 is not as good as the 3d tech we're talking about here. first of all, they're not rendered in HD when in 3d. second, the framerate takes a huge hit. third, because it can't output any faster than 60fps, you'll end up with a headache before long. 120fps is the minimum you'd want for extended 3d gaming.

and there are no true 3dtv's out on the market yet. not that support HDMI...

just like you enjoyed next gen games for 2 years before we ps3 owners finally got to check em' out (early ps3 games sucked tech wise), we'll be gaming in full HD 3d until ms releases another system.

makes me wonder if this could be the tipping point that forces them into releasing the nextbox? who knows. we'll see how it takes off. i do know i spent years listening to people say blu-ray and HD would never become mainstream, and here we are today with bd the primary movie format f...

well, let me explain. it actually provides an advantage.

every good race driver will tell you that looking down the course at the turns coming up ahead is a must. in 3d, you have proper depth perception so you will be able to very accurately judge the distance between objects in all directions, including front/back. this also will work well with a shooter, when aiming at far away targets and such. it gives a much more accurate way to judge distance on the Z axis, not to mention ...

look bud, sony rocks for supporting the future, and IMO they are the #1 console manufacturer, but that doesn't negate the fact that Xbox 360 has beat the hell out of PS3 all the way up until recently. Xbox 360 gamers were enjoying next gen games for years before we finally got a game that looked and ran decent (uncharted was the first to truly blow me away and say "this is next gen!". heavenly sword came close, but i had seen 360 do as good by that point).

no, it still isn't quite "3D", as you only get the 3D effect when you move around (and you don't game while walking around your room often). while cool for a FPS, many game types just won't lend themselves well to it. Gran Turismo 5 actually already uses that tech when you hook up a pseye (no glasses required, just tracks your face). technically any camera based device could do it as long as the system were powerful enough. wii could even do it. it's a cool technology, but it isn't ...

agreed, although natal still has a LOT of proving to do with me before i'll buy it. it was laggy with the on board CPU, and now that is gone with the load being dumped on the 360's cpu. we'll see though. i'm going to hold my tongue and give it a fair shot, because there are certain games (namely sports) that will RULE with natal.

that said, imagine playing baseball with psmotion controller in 3d... the pitcher pitches, you see the ball fly out of the TV towards you, and actually ...

3d has been around in gaming in some form or another since the NES. however, only now (as the article states) are we reaching a point where we can have real 3D without the colored glasses that ruin image quality by killing all of the color (that, and you see a bit of blur from what the other eye is supposed to see, which can cause a headache trying to focus on things). then shutter glasses came along and worked OK for a bit, but still gave you a headache because it was only 60fps. only now wi...

Well, Aaron Greenburg tried to slam 3D at CES this year, saying "i don't know how well 3d will work in the home, i mean, you have the glasses, you have the phone, the weather outside, all kinds of distractions going on. It's not like being in a theater"...

that's a pretty poorly orchestrated excuse... 3d won't work because you can't answer the phone or look outside while wearing glasses?

none the less, to be fair to the ms side of things, when sony couldn't...

Third parties have never had any luck with the Wii. Wii has been ninty's console pretty much. they needed that however, all of this profit they're making is giving them lots to invest into their future, so the next nintendo console will likely be able to match or beat it's competition feature for feature.

all that is talking about is a compression technology that is used to reduce the file size of 3D video by only storing the parts of the image on the right eye that have changed from the left (much like how 2d video encoding does that between frames). It is a 3D HD VIDEO content delivery system, it doesn't do any good if you can't send it 3D video to begin with.

Samsung also kinda did lie to you... it isn't real 3D. it will work on any image, as it's simulated 3D (the same thing t...
