no, the lead was at 5,245,798 when ps3 launched in the US and Japan in november, and by the time it had also launched in europe 360 was at 6,536,730.
that's the issue... as long as it sells well, you'll get those games. and vice versa.
Actually, PS3 is outselling 360 software in many cases as well. look at batman, need for speed shift, etc. as examples.
quit trying to hide from the truth... vgchartz was only used for that one bit. the rest of the numbers are from sony as well as npd and other sales data.
sounds butthurt that his system's sales have plummeted and the ps3 has almost outsold it in 2009... (wii that is)
The fiercer the competition, the harder these companies have to try to win our dollar. in the end, when sales wars heat up like this, we win.
Not over, but heating up. 360 is slowing down despite slashing it's prices, PS3 is kicking everyone's butts by a very wide margin. 360 is not in a good spot right now.
^which adds even more credibility to the point the article is making.
And before the comments start... no. VGChartz was not used for all of the numbers used in the article.
Slim is the only model now.
I updated it to clarify. The European rollout starts in november, but will be finished by the end of next year for all of europe.
There is no way, as you know Sony is bundling this game, and they wouldn't dare miss the holiday shopping period for both the software and the bundle.
No, that is not where the freeze was. It was in the caverns before 3.0 and during a chase scene after 3.01.
A firmware update handles the freezing (most of the time), however you can't fix the burning if you don't realize it is overheating before it dies. Also, some of those fans (which add extra cost to an already expensive box) actually cause the machines to fail.
if we poured kool aid on it, it would work about as well as a 360. we could just wait for the patch, since our problems actually ARE fixable when they occur.
Just because YOU have not had problems, does not mean anyone out there hasn't had any problems. There are several models of PS3 out there, all with different hardware configurations.
So, just because your box is fine doesn't mean that every PS3 is ok and Sony shouldn't worry about it. The fact is, their quality control has been quite crappy lately. When is the last time Microsoft had to recall a firmware update like this? When was the last time it still didn't solve the issues...
To clarify a few things to people who I've seen post questions here...
1. The console I was using during the freeze was a 80gb unit (not a slim).
2. The firmware updates are NOT causing hardware failures. It is software only and can be fixed with a simple reboot.
3. The freezing issues I have experience so far have been isolated, not like with 3.00 when it would freeze randomly but also at certain points in the game making the game unplayable.
oh, ok. so if your system messes up, you are just imagining things unless someone else has had the problem and reported it on the ps3 forums. if it isn't there, you are full of crap. right? after all, every ps3 owner also visits forums and knows to post any problems they have there.
the issues with the game were definitely helped with the update, but not solved. and as other posters here have said, it isn't just uncharted.
"And counting games that were released even before the PS3 existed as lost exclusives is lame"
Why were they counted? Because Microsoft claimed many of them to be exclusive, and that exclusivity was lost (see attached pic... notice that "only on xbox" logo?). That proves that MS never knew it was coming to PS3 to begin with. Look at Unreal Tournament 3, it's box shot doesn't say "Only on PS3", even though Sony had timed exclusivity of it. It doesn'...
GTA4 sold more than that day 1. 2.5 million to be exact. So no, it didn't piss all over anything but itself. It did very well for a full priced expansion pack, however.
Let's not forget that a $300 console and a $60 game are quite different, comparing apples to oranges.
