smart enough to pay for something that gamers have been enjoying for free since the dawn of online gaming... yeah. real smart.

and live may not have gone down a week, but it has gone down, and more than once. so, until this issue becomes worse, stfu. At least here only some ps3's are affected. when live crashed, everyone got booted.

Also, Sony Europe has responded saying it's a internal clock bug that they're working on, and hope to have fixed within 24 hours (they'...

if you guys read the article, you'd see that credit card info was not affected as it's not given away even if your profile is hacked.

I think we'll see some cool stuff done with it... with MS saying they're going to revive mechwarrior, it's a perfect fit.

Ignore the lag! you didn't just see that video! *waves hand* THERE IS NO LAG. We can do bioshock!

"I'm glad Microsoft takes their time when developing hardware, so that it can be as perfect as possible when it releases"

Just like they did with the xbox 360, with it's flashing red rings and e74 errors, right?

I love this... I post a video showing lag, and 100 sites rush out "ignore what you see, natal has minimal lag! you didn't just see that!"

yes, pseye is required, as that is what provides the data it needs to know where you are in the room, voice recognition, facial recognition, body/head tracking, etc.

But, the gyro in arc is what provides the main input.

5950d ago 7 agree2 disagreeView comment

One thing this article fails massively at, besides being an outright lie with it's misleading headline, is they try to pin Arc's latency on what PSeye produces.

PSeye is not used only for the the actual motion tracking, but calibrating the system so it knows at any given point how far away from the console you are. The actual tracking is done by the gyro in the controller (just like Wii Motion+). So, any lag that is present with the eye is offset by the instantaneous input from ...

it'll be praised, by the casual party game crowd who don't know any better. MS themselves have come out and said the first wave of natal games will be "family oriented" and aimed at casuals. So, real gamers won't be singing much praise at all come november from the way they make it sound. they won't have any games to play on it. then when they do... lag.

seems to be working pretty well so far, considering slim has outsold 360 every month since september, and has sold over 7 million units since it launched. That's more than 360 sold in it's entire first year on the market, with NO competition at all!!!

no, not 3 seconds. 0.166 seconds. but, toss in another 50ms lag for online, and whatever lag is already in the game (killzone and gta4 had bad input lag, for instance), and things can start getting laggy.

5950d ago 3 agree1 disagreeView comment

There's 2 things wrong with that.

A) If they did show the E3 hardware, they just lied to everyone. This means they decided to pull natal's CPU, and they're still running around showing natal running with the CPU. This means they haven't gotten it up and running on 360's CPU, and therefore you're seeing a product that will be nothing like that which is going to be released in the final product. different hardware, different software... they're blowing smoke up your ass.

"On topic- I think its much too soon to say that Natal is a failure. How about we judge the final hardware?"

It is the final hardware, it's the software they're working on now. And I'm willing to keep an open mind and give them a chance for improving it some, but i know they won't get all the lag out. it's just not possible to do lag free input on such a complex scale like that, with a camera having to first capture an image, send it over usb to the console, the console...

why the heck would they still show a year old kit when they have a new one? the whole point of showcasing a product in development that you've shown in the past again is to show the progress you've made with it. that isn't happening here, so they either haven't made any at all, or this is it. I'm leaning towards the latter, as the tracking is indeed better than it was before.

Also, those old natal kits had a processor on the camera that handled the data, the new ones (what we're ...

also folks, just noticed the typos in the vid... please pardon those. It's past midnight and i'm not exactly running on all cylinders right now, so it slipped past me.

No, it wasn't perfect. I was there, in person. I have photographs that show the lag (you can see the girl standing up on one leg with her left leg lifted, and the avatar is still standing with both feet on the ground.

And then there's the infamous Bam! incident...

What ISN'T old news is the fact that there is STILL the SAME amount of lag almost a FULL YEAR later, after all this time they've had to patch it up. Now they're down to mere months before release, and you expect it to magically disappear? They're still showing the same dodgeball demo from E3 2009! It still lags, and still glitches. They've improved the glitching some from when i saw it at e3 though, but the lag is still there just as bad as it was day 1.

A little input lag can work on games like dodgeball, but those action games that 90% of the 360 owners bought their console to play... don't even think about it. You need split second response time for that. Imagine trying to play a game like that online using natal, where each person has 166ms delay just from the controllers, then another 50ms for internet delay (i'm being VERY generous there)... that's over 2 tenths of a second delay for EVERYONE.

Yeah, VGChartz again. I'll just rely on the official sales data that still says Sony has been consistently outselling 360 since september.

5951d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

bigpappy, it's pathetic because it gimps the console. it's pathetic for gamers because there are certain games they cannot play fully (forza 3) without buying an overpriced hard drive, and they are limited to the read speed of DVD when playing a game (GTA4 on 360 was bad about this, objects would often pop in. I once ran into a room and was killed because it hadn't loaded all the objects and enemies on screen yet, so I couldn't see what I was running into). It also prevents developers from ma...

Many of you need to consider that Sony has also likely left room on that OS footprint for upcoming updates, like the wand/eye, etc.

The extra ram available will also help boost 3D performance, allowing for a larger framebuffer (3d would require 2 separate frames per frame, which it would then split in half and show to you one half at a time at 120fps) without cutting into too much of what the system used to use (what we've become used to seeing).

It'll be interesting...
