psn charges no tax...
exactly, if they wanted to really do something nice for their customers, screw usb thumb drives that are slow and easy to lose (and will open microsoft up to live's content being hacked like crazy now), and just release an adapter that lets you use a third party hard drive with it already!
But of course, if they did, the adapter would cost $80.
No, you won't get any speed advantage. In fact, it'll be quite slow.
Typical fast drives claim to read at up to 30 megabytes/s (MB/s) and write at about half that. SATA hard drives transfer data at 1.5-3gbps.
Using usb for gaming will be sloooooooow. It's just a last ditch effort to get those millions of arcade units downloading from Live! in order to convince developers that Live! is a better place to sell their downloadable content vs. PSN which is available out o...
hey, at least they didn't charge for the features they did remove, unlike 360 which charges you just to press the power button.
I think someone forgot to tell this fool that you do not have to update to the new firmware if you are using the ps3 for supercomputing. Only to enjoy the new gaming features and PSN do you have to update.
"I'm saying, can I play God of War 4 or Uncharted 3 without the software update? NO! "
Actually, yes you can. you just can't play them on psn.
um, we've been background downloading for years.
glad to see home finally starting to get some market acceptance.
The last one was very good. This one is all that and more.
MS: fluffy kitten's dance party 1-12, all releasing at the same time as launch titles! oh yeah, and for you older folks, you'll be able to navigate the menus in reach with it also!
Sony: "pew, pew, pew"
Nintendo: "here's another zelda game. please save wanking for when you get back to your hotels"
however, if the thing vents out of the side of the console like the pic of the supposed xbox 360 slim motherboard suggests (there is a standard fan/heatsink on the cpu/gpu, which blows up towards the side of the console, and not the heat pipe design the current ps3 and 360's use), they're still going to have a lot of problems when people put things on top of their consoles. folks that lay the console on it's side and then toss a game or magazine on top will not get proper ventilation.

And folks... we kinda felt bad last time we leaked specifics about sony's announcements (especially when I heard jack say at sony's e3 conference "see, we did manage to keep a few secrets" when he annouced ff14 exclusivity and move), so even if we DID know the exact game(s) in question, we wouldn't tell you. some surprises just shouldn't be spoiled. i think you guys would agree. we may drop a vague hint or two, but i don't think i'll ever outright spoil a surprise unless it was a ve...
This is gonna be huge. More than one game... I'd imagine Mass Effect being that they've hinted at it for so long. Maybe Gears 3 due to recent comments from EPIC, and POSSIBLY timed exclusivity for GTA5.
Well folks, it gets better. Our source tells us it isn't just one game now, but multiple announcements.
have they had one all year?
Finish GOW3 in 6 hours eh... the game I've been playing for what, 3 days now? And I still haven't beat it? (yes, I play my games on hard... and this one's a pain in the ass on hard!).
And... before you go talking about short games *cough* halo 3, gears of war, ODST *cough*, I'd go check out the average length of a 360 game, then compare them to the average length of a PS3 game. The results will surprise you.
my possibilities (I wrote the article, btw)
Gears of war 1-3 coming to ps3 (maybe on one disc? wouldn't that be pwnage!)
FF7
Bungie making a ps3 game
splinter cell
mass effect
GTA5
4 socom games... almost as many as halo!
definitely a possibility. especially with them talking about wanting to return to the "good graphics" spotlight and all.
The source never specified if the game was outright exclusive or if it was just a timed exclusive, and Square has commented that they are looking at other platforms to release the game on other than PC and PS3.
initial load... to what, the menu? i'd like to see more data on the rest of the game.
